Chapter Text
In a makeshift tent outside of Arkhangelsk, Pavel Batov sighed as he read the latest front movements
The Germans were making gains in Russia again and were inching closer towards the city
He knew he should´nt have declared the war on Germany. He should have listened to Zhukov. Russia was not yet ready for war after 3 decades of anarchy. He thought that the war would be easier, especially after the Slave Revolt that drained Germany of its men.
´Its really is over now,´ he said looking up towards Marshall Georgy Zhukov. ´You were right, I should have let Russia rebuilt herself before waking the Germans up. Did I really Serve Russia? Did I really have to send millions of young Russians towards their death?´
´Marshall Batov,´ Zhukov spoke up. ´You have done the best with what you have. But alas that wasn´t enough. Perhaps the best we can hope for now is a ceasefire with the Germans´
´You are right Zhukov, we have fought the best we could, but if this goes on any longer, Russia will fall fully to the Germa..´
Batov was interrupted by one of his advisors barging into the tent. ´My Marshall, the German…´ He took a second to breath before finishing ´they are here.´
As they were evacuated out of the tent, bombs began to be heard dropping around them. As Batov came out of the tent, he saw the German Luftwaffe overhead beginning to drop bombs on the city.
´Shit´ the Grand Marshall mumbled. ´We really have to get out of here.
However, as he ran towards his armored car in the distance, a bomb was dropped near where the tent was. It was not close enough to fatally injure him but the bomb´s blast wave was enough to launch him forward, hitting head first into a nearby tree.
The last thing Pavel Batov saw was Georgy Zhukov running towards him while the sky above him distorted into a wormhole as German planes flew above him
When he opened his eyes again he felt coarse sand below him and three creatures he had never seen before, look directly in his eyes
