It has been well over a year since Shadow had disappeared, It happened right after a battle with a very formidable foe that Sonic couldn’t face alone. But then an explosion happened, Sonic was injured after the fight but Shadow was no where to be seen after that. Everyone was okay, thankfully.
But, everyone had thought that Shadow must have sacrificed himself in that last moment, the very last few moments of his life. He wasn’t the most friendly hedgehog, he was often by himself and he was quite the anti social, but he still had a heart of gold that was something Y/N truly believed in.
The person that took it the hardest was probably Y/N, she did not want to believe that he was truly gone. Shadow did keep his distance from her at times but there were times that he was around her , though it was quite brief, after all he did enjoy his solitude. But there were times that Y/N did reminded him of someone that he was close to the past, but he often shakes his head and pushes that thought out of his head.
Everyone else has moved on and said their final farewells to Shadow, all except for Y/N. She was hold a red lace that was Shadow’s Shoes. She was in the space ship like everyone else was. There was one thing that they all had to do before returning home.
The space ship stopped moving , she turned her head slightly , she wasn’t sure why the ship stopped moving, so she placed the red lace back in her pocket and headed off to the Captain’s room, where Sonic, Tails, Rouge , Amy, and Even Knuckles were, it was a bit odd that they all be in the same spot like this.
”Hey, Why did you stop moving for?” Knuckles yelled out a bit annoyed.
”…Hm.” Tails looked at the space ship displayed and it looked like there were two issues with this so far. “ We’re gonna have to replace some parts, at least the good news is we are pretty close to a planet.”
”Alright! I was getting a bit stuffy in here anyways.” Sonic grinned, getting excited for a brand new adventure.
Amy sighed. “Sonic, it hasn’t been that long since we left the last space ship.”
Y/N took a few steps forward. “Well , you know how Sonic is, right Amy?” She smiled at the pink Hedgehog.
”Anyways we need someone to look out for the ship while the rest of us go to the planet for resources and parts for the ship.” Tails explained.
“I’ll stay in the ship.” Y/N replied.
” I’ll stay here too and keep her company, it’s been a while since it was just us girls.” Rouge replied. “Right, Y/N?” She smiled.
Y/N slowly nodded.
”Alright, well that means Sonic, Amy, Knuckles and I will go then.” Tails explained.
Amy looks at Y/N with a worried look on her face. “Are you sure you don’t want to come with us, Y/N?”
”I’ll be fine , Amy. Thank you. Anyways someone has to keep an eye on Sonic, right?” She smiles.
”Oh! You’re right!” Amy quickly agreed.
”Hey! What is that supposed to mean?” Sonic yelled out with his arms crossed.
Everyone laughed at that, Sonic was known to be quite reckless at times, and has put himself in danger many, many times. whether it is towards Eggman or the Aliens or frankly any other villain, really. But Sonic has a good heart, its why he is surrounded with so man good friends.
Y/N watched as everyone starts to get ready, she saw Amy brought her hammer, though she did often wondered how strong Amy was really. Although she knows Amy has a soft spot for Sonic, she chuckled a bit and the thought of them being together is honestly quite adorable. She wasn’t sure if Sonic felt the same way about her. Sonic lives for adventure , not really romance. Still she as secretly rooting for Amy.
Rouge was flapping her wings as she flew near by, She watched as Sonic and the rest left the space ship. She watched as Y/N gazed outside . The two of the girls were watching the entire gang leave after all. The space ship then turned quiet. Rouge had a sad look on her face as she looked over at Y/N.
Y/N hasn’t been quite the same after what had happened with Shadow, they weren’t exactly close but Y/N cared for many people. She felt that way for all of them.
“Hey..Y/N are you doing, alright?” Rouge flew right near her.
Y/N slowly lifted her head and looked at the bat and smiles. “Yeah..” she replied. “Thanks Rouge.”
Rouge placed her hand on her head. “ Mhm..I miss him too, you know.” She gently patted her head.
Y/N lightly hummed. “ Mm..you know its odd, but I still feel that he’s somewhere out there. I know that everyone thinks he’s gone for good.” She explained. “Or maybe I still haven’t exactly accepted the fact that he truly is gone.”
Rouge pressed her lips tightly. “He’s gone..hon.. It’s been a whole year.” She spoke softly.
“Yeah…I figured you would say that.” Y/N slowly pulls away and walks towards the window and placed her hands on the window.
Rouge slowly goes back down on the ground and proceeds to stop flying, she knew that Y/N went through a lot of pain with this, grieving was never easy. “Hey.. when we get back home, how about I take you out for a shopping spree? Just us two.”
Y/N turned her head slightly and smiles at Rouge. “Yeah, I like that. It’s been a while hasn’t it? I also like to eat some good food again.”
Rouge lightly snickered. “Oh Hon, don’t I know it. I’m also a bit tired about space food too. But It won’t be long till we go home again, just hang in there a little while longer, alright?”
”Thank you , Rouge.” She spoke softly, She turns her direction back to the window once more.
Space really was like a dark void sometimes if it wasn’t for the stars. The stars are something she will never tire of. She heard Rouge say something but she wasn’t really paying attention all that much, there was something that caught her eye.
Her eyes glimmered a bit when she saw a dome floating by, as if space was drifting, it didn’t look like it was going to anything in particular , It did make her a bit curious. Curious enough to go check it out of course.
“Y/N? Hey are you listening?” Rouge turns around and saw her staring at something. “Y/N? Hey where are you going?” She walks yup to her.
“I’m sorry Rouge! I gotta leave the ship too!” She puts on a space suit since she would never be able to survive the cruelty of space’s elements.
Rouge flies after her . “What’s gotten into you? “ She then noticed a dome. “What…?” She blinks a few times.
“ Hmm..” She uses the space suit to its advantage and uses the pressure to fly towards the Dome and lightly landed.
”Hey, wait for me.” Rouge lands on the dome as well. “…what is this?” She looks around the dome.
”Not sure…weird..doesn’t look like anyone is here.” Y/N spoke and saw a door and walked towards it. The door opened up.
The interior was dark at first until the lights turned on. It was gray and there was some writing on the wall but she didn’t understand what language it could possibly be in. It was rather interesting. She continued to walk through the corridor until she saw a big iron plated door that had a warning sign above it. Luckily the door didn’t have a passcode function or lock.
Y/N wasn’t afraid, she has been through too much , with the silly adventures with Sonic and everyone else to be afraid, The excitement of adventure helped her with that and it was even fun at that. Once she entered through the door , it revealed a big room . The first thing she noticed were these transparent cables all connecting to what looks a giant Pod.
”…What in the world..? Y/N mumbled, She couldn’t help but be curious about this pod. She decided to walked towards the Pod and it was just as transparent as the cables were, but it looked like it was filled with water. She rubs the glass and saw a black figure that looked like sleeping.
”Wait is that..” Her voice cracked slightly.
She rubbed the fog off of the glass and saw Shadow the hedgehog sleeping in the Pod. “Shadow!? Oh ..my god you’re alive!” Her eyes filled with tears.
”Shadow? Wait, are you sure?” Rouge Flew quickly and she gasped when she saw him too. “He really is..” She flew around the pod and saw a control panel .
”The Aliens must have taken him when he was weak.” She spoke. “Don’t worry Shadow we’ll get you out of there.” She pressed her hand against the glass.
Rouge started to type through the program that appeared . It said Observation of the ultimate life form.” It looks like they were doing they’re research …hmm..” She found a button that said eject program and she pressed on it.
The alarm was going off making the lights blink red and the water started to drain in the pod and the glass of the pod slowly lifting up. Shadow was still unconscious.
Y/N looks down and gently patted his cheek. “Hey, Shadow wake up. “ She heard the alarm getting louder and louder but Shadow wasn’t waking up at all.
‘Warning, Warning, Program Ultimate Life Form has been activated. This place will self destruct in 400 seconds. The program alarmed’
”We have to get out of here , Y/N” She yelled.
Y/N quickly nodded and picks Shadow up, holding him in her hands . “Come on !” She started to run out of the long corridors and on to the space platform. “Don’t worry, we’re gonna get you out of here.” She whispered.
‘Warning! This Dome will self destruct in 60 seconds. ‘
“We’ll never get there in time.” Rouge quickly replied.
”No, we will! Get on my back. Trust me.” She spoke with urgency.
Y/N held on to Shadow tightly and felt Rouge climb on her back and pressed a button on the suit that would push the space suit pressure to the max. She knows if Rouge flew over it be way too late. She wasn’t going to leave without Shadow and she surely wasn’t going to die here either.
The pressure built and quickly blew air at a dangerous speed. She flew towards the ship and the dome was starting to blow up.
Rouge gritted her teeth as they were all going at a very fast speed and she clicked on the space station door and quickly opens it.
”I can’t believe we…made it. Why didn’t you tell me you had something crazy like that sooner?”
Y/N pulled off the space helmet . “Well It’s a photo type . I’m glad it worked..”
She looked down and saw Shadow in her arms. “ Shadow…thank goodness..” She teased up. “I never gave up on you..I’m so glad you’re okay.”
A small tear drop fell on Shadow’s cheek and he groaned slowly waking, his eyes slowly opened, his vision was blurry but it slowly started to clear “Ngh…Y/N…? Rouge..?” He slowly spoke out.
Rouge smiled and Y/N continued to cry but had a smile on her face, relieved to know that he really was okay, leaving a perplexed Shadow.
