The highest score he had gotten on any assignment or test since his early primary school years.
It wasn’t as if he couldn’t score higher, he just wouldn’t.
Izuku learned early on that in order to survive as a quirkless person, you can never be noticed.
So he dumbed himself down. Katsuki would always score higher than him, no matter that Izuku’s intellect is far superior.
And then he got a quirk. And everything changed.
But by then he had learned it was best to be underestimated.
So he never scored higher than eighty-five percent.
Not in junior high. Not at UA. Not even in his online post-college level analysis class that he took after school.
Izuku kept his head down, and the rest of his body too, for that matter. He put on his signature sunshine smile and slid under every radar there is.
