in paper rings, in picture frames, in dirty dreams

Summary:

Soobin and Yeonjun are getting married, but Soobin just won't get Yeonjun a simple ring. He needs it to be the best, the prettiest, the most beautiful ring in existence, but honestly, the only thing Yeonjun need is Soobin.

Work Text:

“Soobin, no. That’s too much.”

Yeonjun hissed quietly, his eyes widening at the sight in front of him. A white gold ring with a 4 carat oval cut diamond right in the middle. It was absolutely gorgeous, the bright light reflecting the rainbow shine from the stone.

“Ssh. Do you have a bigger diamond?” Soobin swatted his hand away, his eyes on the sales assistant.

“Holy fuck.” Yeonjun just sighed, rubbing his temples.

It honestly doesn’t matter with Yeonjun what kind of ring they get. Hell, Soobin can give him a fucking ring pop and he would still gladly say yes, but the younger was too stubborn, only willing to give him the best of the best, and although it’s absolutely endearing, it’s still completely not worth it.

The sales assistant came back with a velvet red tray, variants of ring colors from gold to white to rose gold, with all kinds of diamond cuts Yeonjun could imagine.

Soobin picked up a rose gold one, a pretty 5 carat pearl cut diamond in the center with three small ones on each side. Soobin didn’t say anything, just twisted the ring in his hands, before pulling Yeonjun’s hand and slipping it into his ring finger.

Yeonjun was honestly proud of himself he didn’t combust on the spot. Soobin already proposed to him, the evidence was on his other ring finger, but the act never fails to make his heart stutter.

“What do you think?” Soobin asked, his eyes shiny. Or maybe it’s just because Yeonjun’s been seeing too many shiny things today.

“I- um,” he eyed the sales assistant. Thankfully, the lady seemed to understand his stare, and nodded before leaving the couple to talk.

“So?”

“Soobin this is absolutely ridiculous.” Yeonjun nearly tripped over his words, the beating of his heart making it hard to breathe.

“Hyung..”

“Bin, listen. I love shiny things, yes, but this is too much.” Yeonjun shook his head, the weight of the ring in his hand felt too heavy.

“There’s nothing too much for you, hyung.” Soobin’s eyes softened, his finger touching the diamond.

Yeonjun didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry.

“You don’t have to look at the price, you know.” Soobin winked, as if that would make Yeonjun feel better about burning thousands of dollars.

Sure, Yeonjun knew dating the heir to a multi-billion dollar company would come with certain expectations, whether it be the clothes he wear or the jewelries on his body, but it never really mattered to him. He likes what he likes, and price tags never scare him, but he just doesn’t think buying a $100K Cartier ring is a good financial decision.

“You know it’s not about the money, Bin. It’s just-“ Yeonjun tried to find the words. He couldn’t, not with Soobin eyeing him like all of the diamonds in the world would not matter.

“I just think all of these are too much.” Yeonjun finally sighed.

He does have a thing for shiny things since he was young. His parents adorned him in the most lavish and shiny things, diamonds, pearls, ultra-luxurious gems, but they were all low key. Subtle. None of those Van Cleef bracelets or fancy Cartier necklaces. He must admit the ring on his finger right now is so pretty, too pretty, even, but Yeonjun likes subtlety when it comes to his jewelries. Let his fashion and confidence do the talking, instead, and this ring felt like shining a spotlight on his head.

“Okay, then we’ll look for simpler ones!” Soobin said cheerfully, his eyes turning to crescent moons as the dimples in his cheek deepened. Oh, how gone Yeonjun was for this man.

They thanked the sales assistant, and walked out of the shop, hand in hand. Soobin’s phone rang and he picked it up. Yeonjun pulled him to the side so he can talk more easily. After a while, Soobin ended the call.

“We have one more place to go before we get lunch. Is that okay?” Soobin asked, squeezing Yeonjun’s hand in his.

“Of course it is, love.” Yeonjun smiled. He really adores the way his boyfriend- no, future husband is so attentive, so willing to listen to what he needs, and also the way he takes charge when Yeonjun couldn’t.

Yeonjun was taught to lead. All throughout his life it was drilled into his head, that he would someday take over for his dad. But it takes a toll on him, and meeting Soobin gave him the freedom he never knew he craved. The freedom to follow, to let someone else take the lead and knowing they would never let you down. Yeonjun loves him for that, amongst other reasons.

But right now, he felt like he wanted to step his Louboutin boots on Soobin’s feet so hard he wouldn’t be able to walk. Plus, the younger was thankfully wearing Birkenstocks.

“Bvlgari. Really.” Yeonjun crossed his hands, his eyebrow raised.

“Okay, don’t be mad at me. I booked an appointment but only because I absolutely love their Serpenti collection and I think one of their necklaces would look so so good with the shirt you’re going to wear for our family dinner so please, can we just look at it first?“

“Okay. Okay.” Yeonjun sighed. His boyfriend is so impossibly sweet, sometimes. “Okay, let’s just go in, first.”

Soobin beamed, nearly jumping like a kid, before taking Yeonjun’s hand and pushing the door open.

The sales assistant was really nice, immediately serving them champagne and macarons as another sales assistant went to the back to get the jewelries. Soobin’s eyes lit up at the sweet treats and Yeonjun brushed the younger’s hair affectionately.

The Serpenti collection.

Yeonjun has been eyeing it ever since it came out, and although he absolutely can afford it, hell, he can afford to buy the whole collection, but he just didn’t need it. Where would he even go with a $100.000 necklace on his neck?

But oh, how his breath was taken away.

In front of him was an array of necklaces, rings, and bracelets. White gold, diamonds, sapphires, with the distinctive viper design, it was all so breathtaking.

“This is the one I told you about.” Soobin pointed to a beige velvet box.

On top of it was the most gorgeous necklace Yeonjun has ever seen. It was small, not as big as the other Viper necklaces. A white gold necklace with diamonds studded all the way to the back. The small viper head was so beautiful. It was the kind of subtle seduction that Yeonjun absolutely loves, a silent promise of something more dangerous.

Soobin knew, of course. He knew what would get Yeonjun’s heart racing. He always do.

“Do you want to try it on?” Soobin softly touched Yeonjun’s hand, awakening him from his trance.

“Yes.”

And oh, did Soobin choose well.

The necklace adorned his neck so beautifully, Soobin actually gasped. Yeonjun softly touched it, reveling in the way the gold and diamonds felt cold on his neck. He craned his neck, looking at how the necklace moved with him, and felt himself sigh.

Soobin, on the other hand, was frozen to the spot. Once again, he wondered how he got the chance to be so lucky, to have Choi Yeonjun as his soon-to-be husband.

If their world was full of glittering gems, Choi Yeonjun was a shining diamond. Honestly, if it wasn’t for his drunken mistake at that one Gala night Yeonjun’s parents had, he wouldn’t even be here, staring at the most gorgeous man he has ever seen, the man who would spend his whole life with him.

“I’m getting you this.” Soobin deadpanned. Yeonjun immediately turned around, a disapproving look on his face. “Hyung, I know you can buy it yourself and all but please, let me get this for you.”

“Just this one.” Yeonjun caved, he always do. He couldn’t handle Soobin’s soft look, as if he were seconds away from worshipping the ground Yeonjun walked on.

Soobin pulled him by the waist, turning him around so he was facing the mirror again. He tucked his chin on Yeonjun’s shoulder, the height difference making him feel giddy.

“Tell me what you think.”

“I wonder if this necklace would look better with your hickeys under it.” Yeonjun whispered.

It was so easy to rile up his boyfriend, and Yeonjun absolutely loved it. He adores the way the blush on Soobin’s face slowly forms, creeping from the tip of his ears to the apple of his cheeks, and all the way down to his neck. Soobin’s grip on his waist becomes tighter, as if trying to ground himself.

“You can’t just say that.” He groaned, his head falling on Yeonjun’s shoulder. Yeonjun laughed, and Soobin felt the butterflies going 180mph around in his stomach.

“I love this, Soobin.” Yeonjun said, turning around to meet Soobin’s eyes. “I love you.”

“You’re making me want to get you 10 of that.” Soobin sighed.

“When we get married I’m banning you from buying shit for me.” Yeonjun just rolled his eyes, but the smile stayed on his lips.

True to his word, they left Bvlgari with only one box. Yeonjun slipped his arm around Soobin’s, walking close together. It was sunny outside, but not too hot, the perfect weather to chill outdoors. Soobin pulled them into a chic cafe, and they sat together on a couch outdoor, with a canopy of vines above them. It was so romantic Yeonjun couldn’t help but sigh happily.

“You should really stop getting me things, Soobin.” Yeonjun said as he put down his glass of Prosecco.

“I don’t even buy you that much stuff.” Soobin rolled his eyes, his fork chasing down a piece of scallop on his plate.

“Do you need me to list it, mister?”

“It’s not that much, I would know.” Soobin smiled at him, the dimples making it hard for Yeonjun to think straight.

“You got us a private yacht for my birthday in fucking Capri, Bin.” The older tsk-ed.

“I rented it. I could’ve bought it, though. Do you want a yacht?” Soobin tilted his head, looking like he was actually considering it. Yeonjun slapped his arm in annoyance.

“Absolutely not.”

“I’m kidding, baby.” Soobin laughed. He pulled Yeonjun closer, wrapping his arm around his shoulder. “I just want you to have everything you want. I can’t give you the world, but I can give you all the best things in it.”

“You’re the best thing in my world, Bin. I don’t need anything else.” Yeonjun sighed lovingly, bringing his hand to cup Soobin’s cheek. The younger turned to kiss his palm, so soft, almost like a whisper.

“You’re too good to me, Yeonjun. I’m so glad I threw up in your bag at that Gala.” Soobin giggled.

“Ugh, don’t remind me of that. I still can’t believe your alcohol tolerance is so low that three glasses of champagne had you throwing up in my Birkin.” Yeonjun playfully shoved him away, only for Soobin to pull him closer.

“Excuse you, I had too much food before that. But aren’t you glad it happened? You lost a bag, but you got me, instead.” Soobin giggled again, making kissy faces at the older.

“Whatever.” Yeonjun waved his hand, but Soobin twisted him and pulled him close, their noses touching.

“I love you, Yeonjun-hyung. More than anything.” Soobin whispered.

How could Yeonjun ever want anything else?

“I love you so much, Soobin.” Yeonjun whispered back, before closing the gap between them.

Soft lips on his, so full of love Yeonjun was surprised his heart didn’t burst at the amount of feeling overflowing from him, dripping out of him everywhere.

Yeonjun felt Soobin take his hand, and a while later he felt something cold on his finger. He broke the kiss and looked down-

“You did not.”

“I had to get a matching ring for your necklace, hyung. You just looked so so pretty wearing it and I just-“

“You absolute idiot.” Yeonjun shook his head, but the smile was still on his face.

The viper ring was absolutely beautiful, simple enough that it doesn’t blind him, but a very tasteful pick for someone who was very much picky with what he wear.

“Thank you.” Yeonjun kissed the younger on his cheek, loving the way Soobin still turns red whenever he kisses him.

“Anytime. But, hyung..” Soobin bit his lower lip, and Yeonjun knew something else was going on.

“What is it, love?”

“We still have an appointment after this.” Soobin’s voice was timid, his eyes darting some other place that’s not Yeonjun’s eyes. “At Harry Winston.”

“CHOI SOOBIN YOU-“

“I’m sorry!! I can’t just cancel it, besides you haven’t had your wedding ring yet, and don’t even think this measly ring would cut it because I want you to have the best-“

Yeonjun just let the younger ramble on, keeping a strict frown on his face, but he knew Soobin knew he was happy. Soobin knew Yeonjun loves to be doted on, to be treated like a princess, even if he never shows or asks for it. Soobin knows him, and that’s all that matters.

“Alright, alright, but we’re not doing big diamonds. Keep it under 5 carats.” Yeonjun finally caved, again. Soobin scratched his head.

“Damn, I asked the SAs to prepare their 7 carat ones, though..”

“Choi Soobin!!!” Yeonjun slapped his arm again, a playful frown on his face. Soobin laughed, the deep dimples Yeonjun loves so much so prominent on his cheeks, like small craters.

“I’m kidding, hyung.” Soobin’s laughter finally ceased, looking softly at Yeonjun instead. “I want what you want. Anything you want, it’s yours.”

Yeonjun’s heart felt like it was about to burst with how much he truly loves Soobin. His love language has never been gifts, but Soobin was so happy every single time, those eyes turning into crescent moons whenever he gives yet another prettily tied up box for Yeonjun, that it fills him with immense happiness, too. If Soobin is happy, then he would be happy, too. God, they are so hopeless, Yeonjun thought.

“I love you, Bin. I love you so much it hurts.” Yeonjun brushed Soobin’s cheek with his knuckles, never tired of the way the younger always leans into his touch.

“I love you more, Yeonjun-hyung.” Soobin whispered, taking Yeonjun’s hand and kissing it. His smile turned mischievous, before leaning down and whispering in Yeonjun’s ear, “Now, let’s get all of this done with so we can go home and I can fuck you with that necklace on and nothing else.”

“Choi Soobin you absolute pervert!” Yeonjun’s cheeks turned red so quick, and Soobin laughed again, hand squeezing Yeonjun’s.

“You love me for it.”

“Yeah. I do.”
