College Worries

Work Text:

Theo’s more than ready to leave Beacon Hills, the same town that had brought him nothing but misery and pain, the same town that had watched him get dragged down to hell, only to be brought back by the same man that he is incredibly proud of right now.

Liam though, is convinced that it’s going to go terrible. He’s terrified of telling Theo that he got accepted into college. Not that Theo hadn’t done anything to make him feel that way, he was even the one to remind him that he had to fill out his application forms, and spent hours looking up collages that had good History programs as well as a decent Lacrosse team.

But Liam saw how much the idea of going to college freaked Stiles out, and the small nit-picking fights that couples kept having around school every time college applications where due to pass their screens, he had even caught Corey and Mason whispering furiously at each other in the corner a few times. People were arguing and breaking up everywhere Liam turned, and it’s not like he and Theo where the poster children for healthy communication on a good day, he was scared and dreading the possibility of losing Theo.

So, he waited until his acceptance letter was in his hand. Anxiety bubbling away in him when he realised that he had to actually have the ‘what happens now’ conversation with Theo.

In the end he doesn’t even really tell Theo, he just waves the letter in front of his face and waits anxiously, staring in a way that must be off putting as Theo reads it.

He was at least expecting a screaming match, maybe a bit of crying, the type of crying where they both deny that they have feelings while screaming in each other’s faces.

But instead, Theo smiles, wide and excited, eyes sparkling with pride and joy. Liam’s admittedly thrown into a loop, he doesn’t even hear the first part of Theo congratulating him, chiming back in just as Theo was pulling him in for a kiss. He breaks it a minute later, muttering about housing and how many bedrooms, and is suddenly talking about how Liam’s and Mason’s colleges are only an hour apart, so they are going to live with him, and Liam will just have to commute each morning, and then he’s muttering something about how much easier it’s going to be for him to be able to find a job now that he had two college towns to pick from- and then he’s off again. Pulling out Liam’s laptop.

“Why are you so excited?” Liam asked.

“Where getting out of Beacon Hills. You know I hate this town Li” Theo scoffs.

“Then why are you still here?”

“Because you are” Theo answers it like Liam’s an idiot for even questioning it. Maybe he is.

For the next two months Liam hates every single time that he has to see Theo and Mason together at the same time. Both of them wouldn’t shut up about leaving. Mason’s already trying to con Theo into using his truck when they all live together. Theo wouldn’t shut up about Mason throwing parties and how he refuses to be the designated driver just because he can’t get drunk.

Corey at least seemed to agree with Liam that their boyfriends where being completely ridiculous, but neither of them could deny how adorable it was to watch them argue over theoretical gas money through.
