Chapter Text
VOL 00: Adieu, Milady.
(Chapter 01 - 11).
Rise and shine from her deathbed, Lady Y/N of Hell is forced to adapt to and navigate the Demon World upon her contract with the one and only Lord Sullivan - all while assuming the position of a bodyguard for his grandfather at Babyls High.
"And there are those who are simply too powerful than the others.”
A smirk was drawn on the woman’s face.
“Far, far beyond us. Those are…the superior. Transcendent. Ones that have never experienced death. They bring fear and command respect. Their names were uttered with pure terror and fright. Just their very existences make death sound much more pleasing.
However, what is the meaning of spending eternity in a place like Hell anyway? It’s already known that we devils can never truly die, and yet the transcendent ones still loathe death. Hunting down Chainsaw Man, erasing every factor that can lead to the possibility of meeting the inevitable fate, they went to great lengths to make their stay in Hell permanent.
Nevertheless, even the greatest shall meet their fate when the time eventually comes.”
Hearing this, the entity could only manage a hum, perhaps being weary of her bold exclamation. Their reaction, however, still gained the red-headed woman’s mesmerizing gaze. Her smile grew wider over time that it almost seemed grotesque, even if, by human beauty standards, she was a very stunning woman - white, long-sleeved shirt tucking elegantly in black pants.
“I’m a fan, actually. I’ve always wanted to see the final doom of you devils, but especially you. It’s a win-win with Mr.Hero of Hell here. I want to make this day as memorable as possible.”
Control twisted her head in a lovesick-like manner.
“Will you help me then, Chainsaw Man?”
Her eyes busted open all of a sudden.
“It might feel uncomfortable to have your power weakened significantly. But believe me, it is, without a doubt, a necessary part of bringing you to life again. After all, it took a ton to seize you from death himself.”
Of course, it was the light that first hit her orbs quite sharply. Then, pupils dilating, senses being overwhelmed by varied sounds and smells, throat so hoarse that felt like something had been crawling inside, the young girl couldn’t help but blink slowly. The man’s words came in a close second, and, although having the same impact, weren't able to stir up any kind of emotion in her E/C eyes.
It has always been a human’s instinct to get frightened in an unfamiliar place. Even the most put-together ones would show outward signs that depicted minor to significant discomfort. Mankind feared things they couldn’t grasp—things that were unknown to them.
Yet, the young girl, although looking humanoid, was not by any chance a human. Hence, her expression remained neutral, icy cold even, eyelashes fluttering like a butterfly's wings.
Sullivan noted how a lot might be fooled by the young girl’s dollishly alluring appearance. Truth be told, she was a well-evident beauty. Many would find those orbs to be especially appealing, cross irises being engulfed in a myriad of E/C.
And yet, it’s also those cross irises that the devils reigning over the darkest depth of the Earth would recognize with ease, stuttering her name out with utter fear and respect laid in their fumbling voices.
Lady Y/N.
“Sullivan’s my name.’
The young girl cocked her head a little, a pop sound echoed in the air. She glanced sideways at the bald man.
“And don’t think about it. I’m not afraid of fire.”
Lord Sullivan nonchalantly added, using his power to add more wood to the fireplace.
“What a pity.”
Y/N said without a care, finally acknowledging the other figure in the room. She stood up straight from the velvet armchair - something that she might have been occupying for hours, days even. What’s the meaning of time anyway? The devil pondered for a moment, irritated that she couldn’t trace any memory back from her supposed death.
In that process, Y/N decided to take a seat next to Lord Sullivan, who seemingly knew even more about her than herself.
“What is your deal?”
“Deal?”
She hummed.
“There’s no question left that nobody wants us devil to live without any payback.
Contracts, power, flesh. You name it. An already-deceased Tomato Devil can be sold for four hundred thousand Yen on the black market, even if it’s one of the weakest devils that ever happened to exist.”
The demon took his time to make some tea without gazing back at her. “Ah, so that’s how you see this world.” Simultaneously, he offered her some sweets, which she accepted with no perplexity, paying little attention to the coo that Sullivan voiced out.
“...Sweet.” Y/N licked her dry lips, sipping a bit from the Bergamot-smell brew. Legs swinging, she observed her new body with curiosity evident, then puzzled by how delicate a human could be.
“It’s my ultimate tea set and sweet cakes~ I take that you like them?”
“It’s good.”
Y/N pressed her skin lightly. Such smooth and delicate flesh that she couldn’t help but take an interest in.
Sullivan gazed with amusement at the young girl, yet immediately reached his hand out to stop Y/N from “experimenting” on her body. He sweatdropped profusely. “Don’t just break your bones for fun!”
Sighing, the legendary demon deduced that he would keep stuffing sweets in her hands in order to prevent Y/N from doing things.
The girl hummed in response. She’s slowly getting used to unwrapping those candies. “To tell you the truth, well, that’s everybody’s way of seeing this world.”
“That’s pessimistic.”
“It’s crucial, nonetheless.”
Her abnormal irises met his face as the young girl carelessly remarked. “For instance, I can make you fall unconscious right at this very moment. In fact, I can do many things to you, then somehow find my way back to Hell and hunt down Control’s head until that chick dies painfully at least a million times. Then again, it’s too risky. There are always factors that can’t be measured by eyes. Besides, as you said, I’m weakened.”
However, it’s to Y/N’s astonishment that the man still managed to choke out lighthearted laughter, as if tolerating a child’s nonsense babbling. Maybe her current body wasn’t intimidating enough? Maybe her flesh was too soft and she was so, so much smaller than how she used to be? Y/N frowned, and couldn’t help but wonder silently. If only she was able to return to her primitive form, then perhaps he wouldn’t take her words lightly.
Sullivan shook his head.
“Your view is quite troublesome, isn’t it? Alas, it’s even more troublesome to change something so inveterate all of a sudden. I expect no less since you’ve lived in a truly chaotic world. You don’t seem to be hostile like your peers, though.”
“It’s troublesome, but it’s a necessity in order to survive. A lot has been going on. Even the greatest couldn’t survive with their sole power anymore. We need to adjust.” It seemed that Control’s words were starting to get into her head, but Y/N could hardly resist. She went on. “I see no point in being hostile anyway. The others are just acting like they know everything in order to keep their reputation.”
Her voice turned into whispering abruptly. “They’re hopeless in their own ways. It’s between you and me, but that old hag Falling used to set her whole territory on fire when she first learned how to cook. She banned everyone from talking about it though. And nobody ever wants to cross a Primal Fear’s line. Such cowardice move.”
“...I admire the spirit.” The old man coughed. “So about the deal—”
“Ah, it’s settled. You wanna make a contract?” Y/N’s hand twitched slightly. She’s trying to do origami with the sweet’s wrap. “Contracts, contracts…Humans sure love making contracts with us devils. Some even exchanged their life span for the supporting hand of an influential one. Take, for example, last week, the US president sacrificed every citizen of the United States's one-year lifespan in order to summon 20% of the Gun Devil. Such a hard decision to make, and the rest is surely history.”
“Yes, but I’m afraid our contract is unlike those.”
“How come?”
“We’ve already made one.”
The expressionless face Y/N had held on for the longest time seemed to be sculpted into a puzzled one. She tilted her head a little.
“...Well, then my unconscious self is surely a mess. I can’t seem to remember much. Is it my fragments of power that you took? Flesh maybe? Gateway to Hell?”
“No. It’s much more simple—” The old man sounded too gleeful for her liking. “In exchange for your revival, I asked you to be some sort of guard, caretaker maybe - that must be the word - for my grandson during his stay in the Demon World. Apparently, you consent.”
Needless to say, Y/N was stunned. Confusion danced in those E/C orbs as the girl finished her crumbling origami crane. She placed one on the table.
Who’s in their right state of mind would want a devil to protect their grandkid?
“That’s quite,” Y/N pondered for a moment, choosing her words carefully. “Risky?”
“I know more than to doubt your power.” The smile on his face was unmistakable. Then he turned into one of those comical chibi characters with a ray of sunshine and rainbow shining over him. “You should see my grandson, actually! Ah, I’ve always wanted to buy clothes and all of those things. I’ll definitely spoil him rotten. Still, we need a celebration first, marking this day eventful, because I finally have a grandson! I won’t have to hear my friend boasting about their grandkids anymore!”
Upon the man’s words, she just shrugged. Then again, what if it was risky? It’s none of her business to warn those demons of just how many dangers would come seeking the very bad-luck-magnet Y/N.
She doubted that anyone would want to mess with “Lady Y/N”, though.
“...To conclude, let’s all have a tea party!”
And just how did this man ever come to that conclusion?
Y/N realized that there was no use trying to understand how Sullivan’s brain truly functioned, so she stopped and began to work on her second origami crane.
She thought about various other shapes, yet cranes gained her favoritism the most.
“Here.”
Y/N hummed and decided to give this crane to the teenage boy that somehow appeared in the spacious living room. Her gaze rested on his clearly puzzled appearance.
The young girl casually remarked.
“So you look just like the picture.”
The teenager flustered a bit, perhaps at receiving a paper crane for no reason. Tilting her head, Y/N noted how humans displayed their emotions so frequently and easily—-either that or he was just odd.
She stared at him a little, taking in the boy’s facial features, then his smell. Blue hair with puffy cheeks. With those assets, he looked especially delicious than any other human.
She then tried and poked his right cheek, to which he let out a yelp, cheeks darkening significantly.
“And your skin is as soft as mine. Magnificent.”
Sullivan cooed. “Ahh, so adorable, you’re all getting along!”
For Suzuki Iruma, however, this was certainly something he was not, at the very least, expecting when his presumably “grandfather” called for him. Actually, it’s a surprise that he met a pair of E/C orbs all of a sudden. Bright, E/C ones that seemed to probe deep into the bottom pit of his soul, giving Iruma’s stomach a churning feeling in that process.
Their owner took the form of a teenage girl just about his age. Her uncommon irises gave it away that she was, by no means, a human. Yet, she appeared strangely humanoid - a very appealing one, even. Very few people would object to calling her a beauty - if there were any at all. Her delicate, elegant appearance adorned well with a graceful figure. Just by her look, one may deduce that she’s grown up in an elite, top-class family.
He wouldn’t be surprised if Sullivan introduced her as some sort of demon noble’s heir, because he truly thought so. Something about this young lady screamed divinity, a little sinister maybe, but nothing compared to the superiority that she gave off. It also didn’t help that she was staring at him intensely and that made his heartbeat accelerate with a tingle feeling.
Sullivan gestured his hand.
“My dear grandson, don't be shy, come meet your future classmate!"
“My future...what?”
Y/N only hummed.
