Chapter Text
Alarms blared from the TV, nobody in the house was awake. Until Owen woke up, he walked out of the hall and looked at the TV. They did it. Russia and France launched nuclear bombs at America. “Why would the French do that?” Owen asked himself, scared out of his mind. The TV was showing that a new zombie virus plague had also swept across the land. He ran to ask his parents what was happening, to find they weren't there. He tried calling them just to hear the ringtone on the bedside. He tried ringing his friend next, William, no answer. Maybe his other friend Lilah? It ringed for a bit, then, “Owen? You’re alive?!”
“Lilah! Thank goodness.” Owen said, suddenly, tears started rolling down his face. “My parents aren’t here, half of America is on fire, William isn’t picking up…”
“It’s ok, Owen. Where’s your house? I’ll be right over.” Lilah calmly asked through the phone. Owen told her the address and 10 minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Owen opened it up to not find Lilah, but William standing at the door. “Hey.” He simply said, he was covered in blood. “Oh my god, you’re hurt!!” Owen shouted.
“Ow. My ears hurt. And I scraped my leg on the way here.”
“You’re covered in blood!!” Owen exclaimed.
“Well, that’s what happens when you hit your family with a chair after they try to eat you.” William said deadpan.
“Oh my god…” Owen said, feeling bad for William. “It’s fine.” William remarked, “I got my dad’s axe collection though.” He puts a duffel bag on the table, in it was three axes and a machete. “Why did your dad have a collection of axes?” Owen was puzzled and trying to forget the gravity of the situation. “He liked vikings.”
Through the door that was left open, Lilah rushed through and hugged Owen. “Can’t… breathe…” Owen gasped. Lilah loosens her grip, but doesn’t completely let go.
“Hey Deli Meat.” William says cooly. Lilah lets go of Owen and runs to hug William. He does a sidestep and Lilah trips and rolls over the couch, falling on the floor. “No.” William states, and Lilah lets out a groan, “Why are you always like this…?”
A moan can be heard from the master bedroom, Owen goes to check it out, “Guys… there’s something in my parents room…” William grabs one of the axes from the table and walks to the bedroom. “Owen… don’t come into this room again…” The swish of a blade followed by two thuds could be heard.
This day will never be forgotten by anyone…
