Yahaba had come to Sendai so he could finish some of his jobs and because he knew that Kentarou was there he had texted him so they could hang out.Don’t get him wrong Kentarou liked hanging out with Yahaba,they had gotten close since their third year when they were forced to cooperate together as both captain with vice captain and setter with ace.Him,Yahaba and Watari became friends and they actually still kept in touch.But the fact that they were about to hang out alone,that frightened him.They had never been just the two of them minus some studying sessions but then they were just taking about school so it was easy but now they had to talk for their lives and Kentarou was never good with words.
They had decided to meet up at a club that was near Kentarou’s home.He was never a fan of alcohol but he knew that Yahaba was so he agreed.It was a five minute walk from the Frogs dorms to the club so he arrived first.He waited outside for Yahaba for about five minutes.As he watched the people come and go he started fidgeting with the drawstrings of his hoodie.He wasn’t sure of what to wear so he just threw on a white hoodie with some blue jeans that weren’t either too tight or too baggy.He knew that he was underdressed but he couldn’t care less.As he was thinking Yahaba appeared and he looked completely different from Kentarou.He was wearing a black crop top that was tight and was making a small bit of his stomach visible and some grey cargo pants with a black belt that really complemented his waist.Kentarou felt his mouth go dry and had to stop his self from blushing because he was aware that he was down bad for the other.
The walked inside and they were immediately greeted by loud music blasting from the speakers and the smell of alcohol.They went to the bar and after showing their IDs they ordered something to drink.Yahaba ordered something strong while Kentarou just took an orange juice with some vodka in it.Then they moved to a quieter area so they could catch up and that had started to scare him.He wasn’t trusting his mouth to speak but he thought that if he let Yahaba do all the talking he should be alright.
An hour passed and he had learned everything from why Yahaba was there to even news about Oikawa who was literally on the other side of the world.Apparently he was having trouble keeping in touch with everyone but he was planning on coming back and organising a get together at the first chance that he got.
“What about you?I have been talking for the past hour.You haven’t told me anything”
He took a deep breath before he spoke.”Well there’s nothing too interesting to talk about”
“Bullshit you said that you guys recruited a new setter for your team.Tell me about him”
“You know Kogane we have played against him.Angry bird looking guy from Date Tech?”
“I remember him he was really energetic how are you and Tsukkishima getting along with him?”
So he told him about Kogane and the many times that both him and Tsukkishima wanted to strangle him but they stopped one another.Yahaba was laughing with that obnoxious laugh of his which was more of a kettle going off than an actual laugh and second year Kentarou would have punched him for that but now he couldn’t bring his self to do it.
“The Frogs dorms must be ten times worse now huh?”
“It is but it’s funny at the same time.Kogane lives next to Tsukkishima who lives next to me and you don’t believe the amount of times that he had slept over at mines because Kogane was banging on his wall”
“Why was he banging on the wall?”
“Cause he is freaking out about Shirabu’s underclassman”
“Huh?What do you mean?”
“Well we think that they have something going on and he is always asking us for advice”Yahaba started to laugh again and Kentarou cracked a smile at the action.He was wrong him being alone with Yahaba wasn’t that bad it was actually pretty fun.
Another hour later and Kentarou had to go to the bathroom.He splashed some water on his face and then got ready to get back out there.As he was walking towards Yahaba he noticed that a random guy had stolen his sit and was talking to the former setter but he looked uncomfortable.He walked a bit closer just so he could eavesdrop without getting caught.
“How about I buy you a drink and you come over back at mine’s”
“Who do you think you are?Do I a look like someone who would open his legs after someone bought him a drink?”
“Please don’t play hard to get doll.Look at you with an outfit like this you’re practically begging for it.Why don’t you let that pride of yours go?”
“Leave”The guy tried to lean in but he got pushed away by Yahaba.
“Oh come on!I guarantee you that you’ll have way more fun at my place,seriously.”
“I think I made it clear that I’m not interested,why are you still here?”The guy then moved closer to Yahaba and placed his hand on his thigh and the setter looked really uncomfortable.Kentarou had to intervene but he had to do it calmly because otherwise he would punch the guy with everything he has.He took another deep breath and he then he sat next to Yahaba wrapping his arm around the other’s shoulder.To his surprise Yahaba leaned more into him and he placed a kiss on his forehead.
“I would really appreciate it if you left my boyfriend alone.He made it clear that he wasn’t interested”His voice was calm but the glare that he sent to the other was enough to make him get up and leave.Five minutes had passed but neither him nor Yahaba had made a move to move back to their original seats and if Kentarou wanted to be honest he didn’t want to move.
Yahaba was the one who broke the silence first.”Do you want to go to the dance floor?”
“Are you sure?We can go back at my dorm if you don’t feel comfortable.No need to pressure yourself”
“Look at you being sweet!It’s fine to be honest I just want to drink some more”
“I’m not letting you drink anything else.I’m also not letting you go back home alone so you’re coming over”
“Fine but at least dance with me for a bit,please Kyou”Kentarou was weak,he was weak at those pleading eyes so he sighed and Yahaba’s face lit up.That fucker knew that he had gotten his way and he got up practically dragging him on the dance floor.They happened to past by the dude that was harassing Yahaba before and he still had the audacity to wink at him.Once again he received one of Kentarou’s glares.
People were dancing and singing with their friends and/or significant others and the atmosphere was overwhelming but Kentarou couldn’t bring his self to leave.If Watari was there he was definitely making fun of him and calling him a simp but the way the light shined on Yahaba’s face was starting to make it hard for him to think.He was cautious of course,he didn’t want to do anything to make the other uncomfortable,he knew that he was shaken up by the previous situation even though he wouldn’t admit it,setters and their pride.
The dude from before had the audacity to appear on the dance floor and once again try his chance with Yahaba who looked mere seconds before slapping him.It was amusing to say the least.The dude placed a hand on the other’s waist and pulled him towards his self but got pushed away and Yahaba moved closer to him.Kentarou was laughing his ass off.It was like watching Tom & Jerry in real life.
“Quit laughing and help me out you prick”That made him laugh more but he agreed on helping the other out.He let him wrap his arms around his neck and he let his own hands fall loose around his torso.The lighting had now turned blue and god it illuminated Yahaba’s face perfectly and suddenly his neck and tips of his ears started to feel hot .The universe must have been playing a prank on him because "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor" started to play and with the current situation it lined up perfectly.
“Is that good enough for you princess?”He asked with a smirk on his face.He looked back at the dude who was looking red with anger.This outing was so worth it.
“Is he leaving?”
“Nah he is just looking at us but he is definitely pissed”
“Good enough”They parted away but they remained close.Yahaba was dancing while he was just standing there.
The dude actually walked over at them again.It was now seriously starting to get annoying and Kentarou just wanted to grab the other’s hand and just drag him back to his dorm.He was starting to get tired but he walked next to Yahaba placing a hand around shoulder and listening on the conversation.
“I’m not used to no sweetie so you’re coming back at mine.Give it a try”
“Seriously dude it is getting annoying.Aren’t you able to see that he is taken?Please do us a favour and leave"
“Seriously you are choosing him over me?Please you’re making me laugh”
“Okay no fuck this we’re leaving”Yahaba was just laughing.The fucker probably enjoyed the whole situation.
“Why don’t you leave?Cutie can stay I’ll take good care of him”
“Yeah you’re right it has stopped being funny.We’ll be talking our leave now.Have fun”
“Fucking finally”
They finally left the club and they started their walk at Kentarou’s.Inside the dormitories he prayed that neither Tsukkishima nor Kogane were awake or else they would be pestering him for forever.Luck was definitely not on his side today because the moment that they stepped on his floor and Kentarou went to unlock the door both Tsukkishima’s and Kogane’s doors opened and his two co-workers popped their heads outside.
“Yahaba-san!Hii!Do you remember me?!I’m from Date Tech”How can he be so full of energy at three in the morning?
“Of course,nice seeing you again Kogane you too Tsukkishima”Tsukkishima nodded and then he looked back at Kentarou sending him a smirk before he walked back inside closing the door.Kentarou definitely heard him laugh.Kogane also went back to his own room and Kentarou unlocked his door and walked inside leaving a wheezing Yahaba on the hallway.
“If you don’t shut up I’m kicking you out”That only made Yahaba laugh more but he followed him inside.Both him and Watari had come over before at his dorm so it wasn’t something knew but Kentarou was still worrying.The club experienced went as smoothly as it could with everything that occurred but here they were alone and Kentarou still had a massive crush on him.They stayed in silence just looking at each other for a while and Kentarou was actually contemplating the idea of kissing him.It could either have two possible results.One Yahaba actually reciprocated his feelings and they took it off from there or their friendship gets ruined.The ace actuality decided to give it a try and moved closer to him.
“What’s up Kyou?”Yahaba said.Kentarou moved closer and cupped his cheek.He searched his face for any signs of discomfort and he found none but just to be sure he asked.
“Can I kiss you?”
“Fucking finally”Yahaba said with a small laugh and Kentarou couldn’t help but grin.He leaned in and placed a soft kiss on the other’s lips which tasted like strawberries and alcohol.When he pulled away he looked up at him.
“Are you wearing lip gloss?”
“Strawberry flavoured”Yahaba said and he leaned in for more kissing.
The next morning he woke up with Yahaba in his arms and the most disgustingly soft smile appeared on his face.He was down bad.
