*‘just another day….’ ‘just another dam day’* Yanfei huffed sorting things in her locker before heading off to the library for studying. It was for one of her law classes exams so she felt a bit crunched with time she had to rush somewhat collecting her materials before being bombarded
which wasn’t fast enough as soon she turned around a hand flew beside her face landing on metal which she initially flinched at but it became a scowl seeing who it was. “sup weirdo~” hearing it fall from the mans mouth made Yanfei feel like she’d just vomited into her mouth with how sickly hearing his voice in a saccharine tone made her want to gag.
she had a feeling in the pit of her stomach with what he wanted there was that dam look in his eyes “I heard your part witch” he started not paying attention to her eyebrows furrowing more as lips pursed ready to reject whatever the hell he is going to demand of her.
“out with it then I’m a busy woman after all” Yanfei huffed out looking over his shoulder there were some onlookers from she could peer-over briefly as he snapped his fingers for her attention again. patience was running thin by this point with even humoring him at is something she briefly question but realized he’ll grab her shoulder to pull her back to pin. “there’s this hot chick and it’s not your mug of course” Yanfei scoffed at his jab at the end “and what do you purpose for me to do?” she expects him to say cast a charming spell on him but it would be null considering being basically the prom king and other women would be at his feet begging him to make them his prom queen.
his demand could’ve fell on deaf ears with what he wanted was absurd coming out of his mouth next “make me a love potion” blinking once even twice and thrice! “you know that’s impossible right?” Yanfei stated flatly ready to leave from this conversation but got stopped by the instigator slapping all of her folders causing some papers fly and eyes to widen as all her hard work was flung into the air. “what on earth is your damage??? I said it wasn’t possible”
anything she said fell on the wayside as it was met with a scoff “your just saying that to get out of it” he accused her with. Yanfei wasn’t lying exactly she didn’t know or let alone know how to make it, hell even if she did the ingredients needed are impossible to get! it came to a stand still for awhile until his goons finally showed up “what took you numbskulls so long?”
escape became a thinner option as now it was 4 people against one person and if she tired to pick up her belongings ones going to kick the wind out of her. this hour has became the most infuriating moment of her life. “then how about making me smarter for my exams pops is expecting a high grade on the table” his words were dipped in venom as he kept pushing and pushing to get something out of her. until she snapped back at him “I- I don’t even fucking know to make either those your-”
everything was in slow motion within a blur of actions that didn’t let Yanfei react in time as she was socked into the cheek that her reeling into a locker. all she could hear was static while her ears rang aggressively until it started to fade out so she could hear vulgarities being said to her as now a crowd has formed.
they wanted to see a witch duke it out with a raising star demon weapon “bout time you woke up” turquoise eyes tried to return focus still slightly dazed “makes sense you don’t know how to do anything your not even a real witch” dread started to set in with his phrasing “should’ve expected from a tranny like you” there it was the pit of her stomach sank like stone
she wasn’t sure where he heard it but more than likely he had heard from the grape vine from someone in a game of telephone. Yanfei was going to react in the heat of the moment but stopped as a large blur was flying towards the assholes head. causing him to topple over as if he was a ragdoll in a video game. the main boss was out cold but his goons weren’t and they were pissed
they aimed to avenge their boss returning the favor of who knocked him out. the culprit was a girl with hazel hair that had a bucket had framing her face as a jingling and clacking of metal could be from her dog tag taking out dudes with little struggle. it seems like she’s done it before with practice and all Yanfei could do was just watch as this girl held her own until the goons gave up and hauled their boss away yelling she won’t get away with it again next time
”aiya such sore losers” the girl huffed watching them run away watching other people walk away never getting help for Yanfei. she could faintly hear them call the girl ‘ghost girl’ in the distance leaving her and the girl by themselves. the girl huffed victorious turning around helping Yanfei collect her belongings from the ceramic tiles “dudes like him think they rule the world huh?” the girl asked making small talk and all Yanfei could do was chew on the side of her cheek picking up lose paper. ‘*she wants something out of me too I bet ugh they’re all the same*’ permeated her thoughts until the girl spoke again “I’m Hu Tao by the way” she said collecting the last paper and handed it to Yanfei “Yanfei Ping” now she could’ve deny the girl this information but she didn’t
some part of her decided to let it fall out of her mouth as she glances down to Hu Tao’s hands that were injured because of her. she felt a twang in her heart and a lump in her throat in which Hu Tao took it as that she must be thirsty with social cues “before anyone catches me lets head out Yanfei, I’ll buy you a drink”
to say the least she was puzzled even more so cause she took up the offer and was now sitting on a staircase watching the sun slowly descend for the night. whatever she was thinking about got halted when a cold soda can touch her bruised cheek and flinched “augh!?!” she looked up to see Hu Tao and her blossom pupils staring back to her. “sorry about that yan” Hu Tao said it so casually as if there were even closed to begin with
Yanfei paused for a moment before taking the drink from Hu Tao. then properly looks at her drink and back to Hu Tao "why are you going out of your way for a complete stranger?" before Yanfei can say anything Hu Tao cuts her off "weirdos should help weirdos right?" Yanfei had to hold a snort from coming out "really?" Hu Tao would look offended but not really in reality "duh! people call me the ghost girl! and your part witch so we match" Yanfei could only laugh at the absurdity of it all, comparing her heritage to a nickname this girl was given and didn’t even get the context about it. she decided to ask about context on another day part of her is telling her that it would sour things for some reason "hey!! I'm being serious right now!" Yanfei finally takes a swing of her soda "I get that its just your entrance coming in and what your saying right now is so insane”
Hu Tao takes pride from it looking smug about it "well how else would I come in to saving a pretty girl from some walking dicks?" Yanfei snickers briefly as she trails do and looks at Hu Tao's hands that have cuts and bruising "well for one thing not being reckless hold on" she pulls out her travel first aid kit and beckons for Hu Tao to give her hands to her "eh?? don't you think they look badass-" Yanfei took Hu Tao's hand which surprised her with a tint of pink dusting her cheeks "your hands are so calloused Tao" Yanfei murmurs wondering what she does to have cause this as for Hu Tao? she couldn't say anything as she felt Yanfei's soft hands tenderly take care of her hands it felt surreal
carefully Yanfei moves Hu Tao's hands tenderly applying alcohol swaps and then Neosporin afterward bandaging her hands. ‘*there we go*’ Yanfei mumbled to herself now Tao was finally going to say something to Yanfei that she thought would sound badass but. Yanfei kissed both of her knuckles halting anything to come out of her mouth and becoming a deer in headlights "my grandmother ping taught me a spell that can ease the pain and heal simple wounds" Hu Tao mimicked a fish gasping for air because this girl she was crushing on from afar for god knows how long kissed her hands! even tended to her injuries!! normally people would just end it with the bandaging but not Yanfei who claimed it was just a “healing spell” with a hand kiss. she could just implode right now on the spot with her gay ass ascending to the afterlife.
"so what you want to be friends Hu Tao? as you'd put it weirdos should stick together" Yanfei says to pull the other girl back to reality "wha- oh right! hell yeah" Tao was pumped and jumps up for a moment feeling victorious. passively Yanfei thought Hu Tao wanted a favor out of her but seeing her body being bathed in the fading sunlight changed her mind. Yanfei deiced to try out her soul perception technique taught by her father long ago. and used it to see Hu Tao's soul "your a weapon like me huh?" Tao stops as a light blub lights up with a wicked grin "then be my meister!"
Yanfei blinks for a moment before getting up and taking Hu Tao's hand "and you can be mine then Tao" if Yanfei could notice Hu Tao's 'soul' evacuated from her body
Hu Tao boots up after a moment seeing Yanfei take out her razor phone "ah yea yea we should swap numbers" she takes hers out and punches in Yanfei's "see you around Tao?" Hu Tao nods as Yanfei leaves for her apartment and when she was far away Tao squeals 'holy fuck holy fuck I got her number' Hu Tao jumped around like a madman with how her day went earlier this made everything better.
