Work Text:

cody and noah sat along the beach, leaning on eachother, for some sense of security.

“do you think we’ll make it out of here..?” cody says, his voice shaking. noah sighs, he wants to say they’ll make it out but, in actuality, he doesn’t know.

“i’m sure we’ll make it out. we’ve got to, we can’t die here.“ he says, he doesn’t want to admit his doubts, especially with the boy he loved dearly.

for some reason, noah and cody had this bond that was unbreakable. they trusted eachother more than anything. cody blushed, he felt safer whenever he was with noah.

“you promise..?”

cody mumbles, his body shaking. noah nods, gently rubbing cody’s back for some sort of comfort.

“i promise.”

. . .

he sees the light of the campfire, he sighs, he was right. or so he thought. he hears a twig snap, he jumps. maybe it was someone from camp..?

no. no it couldn’t be. they would’ve said something.

he ran through the forest, the campfire flicking through the trees guiding him. he wasn’t athletic— but he’d rather die trying and having some chance rather than just dying hopelessly.

but he slowed down, he wasn’t athletic. he hears the breathe of the killer. he can’t move. hes paralyzed.

“please don’t hurt me. please.”

he had so much to live for. so much potential.

he yelps in pain as a knife gets lodged into his shoulder, someone had to hear that, right?

“please.. i’m begging.”

nothing. no matter what he said, nothing could hear him.

the rope was wrapped around his neck, he already was getting rope burn.

“pleasepleaseplease-“

his body gets dragged across the chalky sand, into the water.

his body flails and tries to fight back, but it was to no use.

after a bit, he finally gave up, the water filling his lungs as he drowned.

. . .

“where is noah?”

cody asked, noticing duncan’s group finally made it back. courtney lowers her head, guilty.

“hello..?”

he asks again, scared. noah couldn’t have left him, right..?

“he left the group because he thought he was going the right way, we lost him.”

duncan finally admits, cody’s eyes widen.

“what?”

he felt this pit in his stomach, no, no, this couldn’t be happening.

“he was being a bitch, we should be glad hes gone.”

duncan said ignorantly, rolling his eyes. courtney immediately scolded him.

cody knew that noah was in danger, they left him, alone and defenseless.

without saying anything, cody grabbed a small torch and ran to find noah in the woods.

“noah?”

he called out, helplessly. noah needed to be safe, he promised. tears pricked cody’s eyes as he continued to search, he didn’t care that he was bringing attention to himself— he needed to find noah.

and he did. he saw the old rope, and looked into the water. the moon reflecting, it looked.. beautiful.

until cody saw the red vest noah wore under the blood stained water. “no.. this isn’t real. this can’t be real.”

he felt the tears spill. this couldn’t be happening. he was too late. “noah..” he sniffled, crying.

he noticed the water bubbling, that wasn’t normal was it..?

“noah..?”

he saw noah’s body rise above the water, “noah!?” he exclaimed.

noah looked at cody with his piercing eyes.

“co..dy?”

cody couldn’t speak, he stood there, shocked.

“noah..”

he felt, so, so, bad.

“i’m sorry. i’m sorry that they left you. i’m sorry.”

he cried, noah looked at him blankly, he twitched here and there— due to his body (?) or whatever it was.

“it’s.. not your fault cody. it’s mine.”

cody looked at noah with sorrow, “but- they left you. even duncan-“

“it’s my fault.” noah cut cody off.

cody pauses.

“noah.. i wish it wasn’t you.” cody continued to cry.

“if it wasn’t me it would’ve been someone else.. i may have broken my oart of the promise but that doesn’t mean you can give up.”

cody sobs, “what am i going to do without you?”

“it’s okay, i..”

noah doesn’t know if he wants to tell cody.

“i love you. you’ll make it out of here.”

cody looks up at noah, shocked, but sad.

“oh, and, if duncan doesn’t want to get hurt, i suggest he stays away from here.”

cody nods, “i love you too, noah.”

it was too late, noah was already gone, or so it seemed. he was watching cody, just from under the water.

soon, the other campers found cody.

“cody! you could’ve died!” courtney exclaimed, cody shook his head, “i know.”

“you.. found noah..?”

courtney says quietly, cody nods, his cheeks stained with tears.

“i’m sorry, cody.”

“it’s okay.”

duncan starts walking towards the water, “duncan, i suggest you don’t go near the water if you don’t want to die.”

“what?” duncan looks at cody, puzzled.

“noah said so.”

“you talked to noah?”

“sort of.”

he felt the eyes of his once alive crush staring at him.

“it’ll be okay.”

noah whispered, only cody heard, though.
