Lee Donghyuck has been swept up in dating rumors.
A fansite has recently posted on an online community claiming that Lee Donghyuck has been seen visiting a mysterious apartment complex after his comeback schedules with bags of groceries far too much for a single person. The fansite posted photos of Donghyuck being with a man and child walking around the apartment complex. Netizens have been quick to point out that the apartment complex is well known for being an affordable option for starting families and is in the vicinity of well-known public schools and hagwons.
In response to rumors, many fans have defended Lee Donghyuck by claiming that he has already established himself as one of South Korea’s top artists has kept a clean image throughout his time as an idol in the group DREAM and has never failed to be respectful of his schedules and fans. There has also been a growing number of fans who claim to looking forward to Lee Donghyuck having more mature family-oriented schedules and will be fans of his partner.
Lee Donghyuck’s agency has yet to comment on these rumors.

There’s a hole in Mark’s heart.
It’s not big enough to truly affect his way of living. Just enough to rip at the seams and make life a little less pink.
At the age of 35, Mark had gotten divorced from his wife after discovering she had an affair with their neighbor of two years. There had been problems in their relationship, but he had never thought that their love of 10 years would end so easily.
He comes and goes from the convenience store after work, staring at the stars until he comes back home, wishing his daughter a good night. Wooyeon doesn’t grow tired of waiting for Mark, but Mark has grown tired of not being the best for his daughter. He had grown tired of life becoming blue.
And at the age of 38, Mark finds himself falling in love again.
Donghyuck had come to him like a fairytale come true.
He hadn’t considered dating after his divorce. He felt himself too old to be a part of the dating market, his heart willing to mend itself just a little bit at the seams, but his mind had told him far too many times that there wouldn’t be anyone out there who would consider him attractive enough to consider dating a single father.
Mark was met by Donghyuck by accident. And it’s just easy falling in love with him.
One night Mark had decided to pass by the local convenience store at Wooyeon’s request.
“Are you okay?” Mark asked the young man right before him, sitting on the steps of the convenience store.
The young man nods aggressively yes before taking the milk coffee from Mark’s hands. He gives Mark an awkward laugh, “Milk coffee? I haven’t had this in years.” He turns up and faces Mark.
Mark thinks that he’s met with the face of a cherub. Everything about the young man is golden, from the soft brown curls that kiss his eyes to the sparkles on his cheekbones. He tries not to stare at the young man anymore, but Mark ends up dropping his bag.
The young man laughs again, “You must have worked a lot today. Donghyuck by the way.”
“Mark.”
Donghyuck smiles at him before dusting off his pants. “Mark,” he clicks his tongue. “Do you want to join me for ramyeon? I’ll pay.”
“Sorry, I have my daughter to take care of.” Mark comments.
Donghyuck looks at him wide-eyed, “Are all the good men in the world married?”

“Aren’t idols not supposed to have relationships?”
Donghyuck frowns, almost pouting. “Not if their manager approves it.”
“Your manager approves you dating a divorced man with a child?” Mark calmly states, arms crossed and looking over to the young woman sitting in the booth behind them. She gleefully waves at them before taking a sip of her iced coffee. Donghyuck smiles too at the scenario as if this were the most normal of affairs.
Had Mark not known better, he would have thought Donghyuck’s manager was his older sister cheering him on a first date. Next to her, is a giant bag of goods Mark can only guess are meant for him. He’d take another look, but the luxury brand names make him double-take in his seat.
“My guess is it’s normal for idol managers to be wingmen these days,” Mark cooly comments.
“Nope,” Donghyuck gleams. “Mine just really likes you. She already knows we’ve already—”
Mark covers Donghyuck’s smile with his hand.
“Can we not talk about it right now?”
Mark almost loses his composure before taking a deep breath. Five months ago, he wouldn’t have guessed that he would have shared the same bed as one of the most popular idols in all South Korea after his divorce, but fate had different plans. Fate had made him humbled in front of Donghyuck’s velvet gaze.
Donghyuck laughs, “Anything for you.”

Wooyeon gets introduced to Donghyuck only two months later, Donghyuck begging Mark to help him rear Wooyeon.
“I don’t want you to think about me as a burden, Hyuck,” Mark starts looking through the mess of the bed he and Donghyuck left. “You haven’t seen enough of the world yet.”
Donghyuck pushes forward, bumping his head with Mark’s forehead. He closes his eyes before softly saying, “There’s nothing you could say that could make me rethink my decision to be with you.”
One condition of their relationship had been to meet in a different district each week to assure themselves that the media wasn’t following them. Mark was worried that Wooyeon’s identity wouldn’t be exposed to the public without his consent if he had been seen freely dating Donghyuck during the day and night. He had seen how fans could be Donghyuck even made sure to talk to his manager about more public-friendly schedules as they rarely went over schedule to make time for Wooyeon.
“Why would I think about you as a burden?” Donghyuck continues, weaving himself in and out tightly. “All I’ve ever wanted in life is to find someone like you. And to be a part of your family…that’s what I want now.”
With these words, that’s how Donghyuck also comes to find a space in Wooyeon’s heart, right underneath the love she has for Mark.
And likewise, for Yerim in Mark’s heart, the manager who hadn’t left Donghyuck’s side all his years as an idol.

Donghyuck only works hard because he has this stupid idea about having to buy two summer homes for his in-laws before proposing.”
Yerim pauses and frowns. “Now, don’t give me that worried look. I promise you that Donghyuck is taking your relationship very seriously. Just don’t look at your SNS in the meantime. It really will mess with your mind.”

But Mark is the foolish type that doesn’t learn.

He’s seen the increasing number of schedules Donghyuck has signed onto the two years they’ve been dating. Every day it seems like Donghyuck is more and more famous—more than he had been as an idol group celebrity. While Donghyuck promised that he would make more time for him and Wooyeon in between schedules, the distance was much farther than Donghyuck realized.
“Did something happen?” Wooyeon rubs her eyes. She looks at him like a confused puppy, her hair in two messy pigtails, and her baby hairs flying out from her short nap. She walks up to him, asking for a hug in what Mark can only say is the silence of the night.
No, Mark wants to say, because that’s the responsible thing to say as a parent. It’s his job to make up for the fact that Wooyeon just has him in the world. It’s not a burden he should be sharing with others, especially someone like Donghyuck, who pours sunshine after the rain for the world.
Mark has lots of doubts that wants to overpour, but it doesn’t slip out of his tongue. He smiles and says, “No sweetie, why do you think that?”
Wooyeon looks at him before replying, “Uncle Donghyuck isn’t here again today.” She smiles up at Mark in between the seconds that pass. “But he promised me that he was going to my award ceremony tomorrow.”
Mark softens. “We’ll see. Your uncle Donghyuck is a very busy man and I’m sure he’ll do his best to be there.”
Wooyeon nods, yawning in her response. “He never breaks his promises, papa.”

Now, Mark knows it’s silly to doubt the sincerity of Donghyuck’s love towards Wooyeon.

On days without a schedule, Donghyuck would dress himself silly to pick up Wooyeon from school—to the detriment of Wooyeon’s teachers. It was hard to let Wooyeon go home with a stranger dressed in twenty scarves and an oversized bucket hat so large that it almost looked comical despite Wooyeon insisting that Donghyuck was her family.
And on days without a schedule, Donghyuck would be the one to take Wooyeon to the doctor. He would wait patiently outside the smallest of clinics in Seoul, spreading rumors with old ladies to kill time while Wooyeon received her yearly physicals. When Wooyeon cried that she hurt herself on the playground, Donghyuck came to the school right away to see if he could help.
But, in the back of Mark’s mind, he wonders if this is just another page of Donghyuck’s life.
Donghyuck’s career is resurging more than ever and the time they spend together will inevitably come to an end seeing that Donghyuck will have more and more opportunities to meet people closer to his age and have the same lived experiences.
He turns off his phone.
It pacifies his worries for a bit.

He’s forever grateful that Donghyuck had made time in his schedule for Wooyeon as Mark had to take a double shift at the office today. His superior placed a portfolio on Mark’s desk on Monday, almost demanding a presentation within the next hour, and only now did he have the chance to review everything.
He almost cried, knowing that he would miss another one of Wooyeon’s award ceremonies.
The first he missed was due to divorce settlement court calls conflicting with his parenting schedule. Wooyeon smiled to him saying that all was good, but Mark knew his daughter better than the saccharine lies that vainly tried to soothe his heart.
Wooyeon isn’t the type of child to wear her heart on her sleeve. She’s the type of child to persevere through the bluest of storms, holding on with the small candlelight within the small palms of her hands.
Mark only wishes that he had the same courage as her.
Instead, he closes his eyes, waiting for tomorrow to come.

Mark sees Yerim looking out both ways of the door. The same giant glasses and bucket hat laid over her face and head, almost comical had Mark not known her any better. Behind her was Donghyuck, wearing similar shades. On his head laid a university cap, which made Mark believe that Yerim was trying to pass him off as a graduate student instead of one of the most popular idols now.
After seeing the coast was clear, Yerim motions Donghyuck to sit right across from Mark. She takes a seat next to him, still vigilant of her surroundings. In her hands, is a giant paper bag that Mark assumes is a goodbye present.
Donghyuck goes ahead and orders for their table, while Yerim looks through her phone. Mark eyes her curiously before clearing up his throat. He figures he might as well get this over with. Donghyuck had been more awkward than usual, and Mark is certain that it’s because while Donghyuck likes him, it’s nowhere near the level of commitment and adoration Donghyuck has for a career that has spanned multiple domestic and world tours.
Mark must have had his head in the clouds because it takes him forever to process Donghyuck’s words:
“Mark, I want to take our relationship to the next level,” Donghyuck pauses. He shifts in his seat and shifts again before looking back at his manager for encouragement. Yerim gives him a quick thumbs up before looking through the vicinity of the coffee shop again for privacy.
“I—I want to make this—no us work.”
Mark simply looks at him, eyes wide like saucers. “You’re not breaking up with me to save your career?”
It takes Donghyuck minutes before processing Mark’s words into an intelligible answer.
“Stupid,” Donghyuck huffs, almost like a wounded puppy. “I wouldn’t break up with you for anything in the world. Who’s going cook for Wooyeon when she comes back from school hungry?”
Donghyuck’s honest answer almost makes Mark laugh. “I can cook.”
“Not as good as me!” Donghyuck interrupts, his face becoming flushed red with indignancy. “I would make a good house husband.”
“He would!” Yerim immediately vouches for him. “Please don’t break up with him Mark!”
“Okay, okay,” Mark smiles, his heart relieved from all its worries. “I admit it. You’re a very good cook.”
“The best.”
“The best.”
“But I’m a better kisser.”
“Well, that hasn’t been verified yet,” Mark jokes before Donghyuck leans forward.
“We have all the time in the world for me to prove it to you.”
