" Jake.."
Jake groaned as he tossed on the couch, It was 8 AM, Christmas day, and His birthday. Jake promised to come visit Sherry one day, and Now that he was actually in the states, He could probably have a proper birthday and Christmas experience. Jake started to open his eyes, only to be met by Sherry's blue ones. Not only did she startle him, she was a bit too close for his comfort..
"Didn't know you wanted to see me that much, Super Girl."
Jake teased as he yawned, sitting up and scratching his neck. He sat there for a bit before looking at Sherry, who was still looking at him. This caused Jake to cock a brow, confused on why the blonde was staring at him so intensely. Did he say anything wrong? Did his breath stink? .. did he stink??? Jake scratched the back of his head
"What?"
Sherry reached down and planted a decently sized box in his lap. Jake's brows went up as he looked at the box and examined it. Not only was it nicely wrapped, but it even has a little bow on top.
"Wait, This is for me?"
"Who else would it be for?"
"Touché."
Jake started to open the gift up, gently ripping the paper off and keeping in mind not to make a mess. He finished ripping off the paper, and before he opened the box, Sherry stopped him.
"Before you say anything and get confused, I remember when we were in the store.. I noticed you looking at some expensive art supplies.."
Jake's brow lifted, and then he opened the box. It had the exact things he looked at and wanted inside. Jake sat there in silence, and to be frank, it left Sherry nervous. Did she just buy him things he didn't want? Was if he gives it away???? The more she thought about it, the more Jake stared and started inspecting the stuff inside. It was hard to see, but the man was super happy and excited, but then curiosity struck Jake. Sherry seemed to be very observant of what he was doing recently..
"I appreciate the gifts, Sher."
Jake said dryly as he put the items in the box aside. Her looked at Sherry who seemed to be.. upset? Now his brows furrowed, Why did she look sad? Did he say something wrong??
"Why do you look so sad?"
"Do you actually like the gifts?"
Oh, That's what this is about. He guessed that she was expecting a bigger reaction, he thought his face shown his happiness. Wow, Sherry are you saying that Jake looked unhappy? The nerve! Jake smirked and crossed his arms.
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I don't know, Jake. I can't read your face! Your expressions are either angry, or neutral angry."
Damn, did he always look so pissed? Jake rolled his eyes. The hell did he want her to do? Smile? He's smiling right now!
"What do you mean? I'm smiling right now."
Which was true, He always had a stupid 'asshole' smirk on his face. Sherry was obviously unamused and she stood up, going to the fridge and pulling out random ingredients. . Was she about to cook?
"What are you doing?" Jake asked confused and Sherry's unamused look turned into a smile.
"Making breakfast for you, duhhh!"
".. For me?" Now Jake was REALLY confused. Why was she giving gifts, and trying to cook while knowing she's bad at it. "Why are you doing all this stuff? The gifts, the cooking.. Sherry, You know you can't cook."
Sherry did a loud, dramatic gasp "Jake! I can cook! I can make eggs!" She was already cracking eggs into a bowl, scooping some of the shells that fell in out. "You really don't remember? It's your birthday! It's also Christmas!!!"
..shit. shit, shit, shit.
How could he forget his own bithday and Christmas??? Sherry loves Christmas! And he didn't even get her a gift. He stood up and watched her, She's trying to make him a birthday breakfast.. she's going to burn those eggs. Jake walked over and bumped her aside.
"Hey! I was doing something!"
"You'll be fine, besides, I need to make up for not getting you a gift."
"I don't need a gift."
"Sherry, you love Christmas. I'm going to get you a late gift later, Okay?"
Sherry knew he couldn't fight his stubbornness, so she allowed him to take over the kitchen and allowed him to get her a gift.. "Fine." She responded, and Jake laughed at her response. Sherry rolled her eyes once again, and turned the TV on. She flickered through the channels until she stopped at the news one, and decided to hear what they had to say.
"-The snow will be so heavy, most shops will be closed down. Please make sure to have back up generators, food, and water. Make sure to stay warm!"
"Seems like we're snowed in. Guess you're stuck with me all day." Sherry said with a smirk, and Jake rolled his eyes "Seriously? A little snow doesn't hurt anyone. They didn't need to close shop" He was obviously unamused, Now he had to get creative with Sherry's gift.
"Jake, if people went outside when the weather's like this, they could get hurt." Sherry informed and Jake shrugged.
"If they're freaking out over a little snow, then they should see Edonia when it gets cold."
Sherry rolled her eyes and muttered a small 'whatever.'
hours later..
after breakfast and cleaning up her kitchen, Jake was sitting on the sofa, his journal was open and it looked like he was writing something down - at least, that's what Sherry thought. Every single time she got close to see, He would hide it. It was starting to get annoying, What was he doing!? She sighed, sounding defeated, and sat at the other end of the couch and watched TV.
As she stared at the screen, she couldn't help but notice Jake's movements from the corner of her eye, she was becoming even more curious. What was he doing? Why did he keep looking at her??? What was he writing!? Sherry then caught his gaze, and it seems like he was a bit startled.
"CAUGHT YOU!"
"What?"
"I thought I was crazy, but I knew you were looking at me!! Geez, Jake, If you think I'm pretty, just say it."
Sherry was obviously teasing him, and her words made Jake blush, It caught him off guard. Jake seemed to have went quiet again, he was pondering over what to say. He did think she was pretty, but that's not why he was looking at her. Jake was actually drawing her.
"Ok. I think you're pretty, But that's not what I was looking at you."
Now it was Sherry's turn to blush, She didn't expect him to just say it. She looked at the journal he wasn't paying attention to, and she decided to yoink it from his hands.
"Sherry! Give that back!"
"Finally! Now let's see- wait what--?"
The journal was snatched from her, but what she saw was a very good drawing of herself. She was beyond shocked, and now, Jake was holding onto that journal for dear life.
"I knew you were the creative type, but I didn't know you were that good!"
Jake was silent again, still holding the journal, he then sighed and opened the page to show her the drawing. "You ruined your own damn gift." He said with a frown, and Sherry's eyes lit up. He was drawing her gift! How sweet! I guess since they're snowed in, he had no other choice!
But he was drawing her..?
"But why me?" Sherry asked
Jake shrugged, looking at the drawing "didn't know what else you'd like.." he admits, leaning back and continuing to draw her. "Stay still this time, Will you?" He asked with a smirk and Sherry playfully rolled her eyes.
"Fine, just this one time!"
It took a while, but Jake was finally finished. He made sure Sherry stayed still, even when she groaned and moaned about how 'numb her legs were' and 'I have to pee' Jake blew the eraser shavings off the page and carefully ripped the page out.
"I'm done."
"Finally!!"
Jake handed the page over, and Sherry definitely looked amused. "I still can't believe you drew me! It looks so good!" She exclaimed "You even got my nose right!" Jake couldn't help but laugh at what she said, "Well, I only worked hard to make it look good for you, Super Girl." He said with a genuine smile. Sherry continued to examine the photo
"I'm framing this."
"What??"
He saw her get up, and look for an empty picture frame
"What do you mean you're framing it? Like, you're going to put it on the wall????"
"Yeah I'm putting this on the wall! This is amazing!"
Jake instantly frowned. I mean yeah, he gave it to her, but now whoever comes over and asks about it, they're gonna know he drew it.. The man had a reputation to uphold.
"Okay so I don't have an empty frame.. but I do have tape!" Sherry held up the tape and Jake immediately shook his head and got up from the sofa. He walked to her and took the tape from her hands.
"First off, No, that will look so tacky." He said as he put the tape away. "Second, you can like.. store that in a drawer, throw it away, anything else instead of .. framing it!" Jake said, now leaning up against the wall.
Sherry grinned, and Jake knew that grin. That was her equivalent to an 'asshole' grin. "What? You nervous about anyone seeing it?"
Damn you, Sherry.
"Yeah, I got a reputation to uphold." He said with a roll to his eyes, and Sherry laughed. She laughed even though he was being dead serious
"Okay how about this, I won't tell people that you drew it.. but I will still buy a frame to hang it up. We'll both get what we want, Deal?"
Jake sighed "Alright, but if you tell anyone, I will--"
His threat was interrupted by a hug. Jake froze for a bit before hugging Sherry back, resting his chin on top of her head.
"Thanks, Jake."
"You're welcome, Merry Christmas or whatever."
Sherry laughed a bit
"Happy birthday."
