When Edward Elric was pulled through the portal gate, he didn’t expect to meet a Superhero. The older of the two Elric brothers had fallen into another alchemist’s transmutation circle. It was not an ideal move on Ed’s part (but in his defense, he’d pulled an all-nighter comparing notes with Alphonse, his younger brother), but he’d survive, hopefully. It was just his luck that Al also fell into the gate. So not only was he stuck with the responsibility of looking after himself, but now Ed was stuck looking after his younger brother too. It was a creaky old building that whined almost as much as a baby. It wasn’t his fault that the bright blue of the transmutation circle practically blinded him.
“Are you alright Al?” questioned Ed. It wasn’t every day that you fell into a portal that transported you who knows where.
Al seemed to look at him with a look that said, “Did you forget that I am a soul haunting a six-foot-tall suit of armor?”
“Where are we, Ed?” Al pondered.
Ed flashed a sheepish grin . It appeared to be a residential park, not unlike the parks of his hometown of Resembool. No people were to be seen though, despite the somewhat sunny day and what appeared to be cumulus clouds. The clouds looked like the puffs of candy floss that they’d get at the annual fairs.
A sign at the edge of the park confirmed Ed’s hypothesis. It read: METROPOLIS CITY PARK. Now neither brother was a history buff, as both preferred science (so they could practice alchemy), but neither had ever heard of a city as developed in the small country of Amesteris.
“Some city called Metropolis.” Ed patted himself off and brought himself to his feet.
A burning smell met with Ed’s nose very swiftly, as if the scent was in a rush to meet the entire area. At least the burning smell explained why no one was out on such a lovely day. That was one of many questions answered.
“Do you see that smoke?” Al asked as he looked at the oncoming smog.
“I wish I didn’t,” Ed answered. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire and both of the boys knew that very well. The burning down of their childhood home had cemented that into their head very well .
The duo raced to the source of the smog, as any stable, mentally healthy teenager would. When they got to the scene, they saw, as expected, a fire. It was a small fire that was ravaging an office complex.
Without a second thought, the Elric brothers raced into the building to save a young group of two who were calling for help. Almost immediately as they ran into the building, both the Elrics and the young duo were pulled out by a man dressed in red, blue, and yellow.
