The Marauders - The Graham Norton Show

Summary:

This week, the beautiful and dynamic British band, The Marauders, grace the red sofa with their presence. With the release of their self-titled debut album, Graham gets the scoop on the inspirations behind the album as well as getting the chance to reveal a very big Marauders secret to the world!

Notes:

I've taken some creative liberties with Graham given that he is a real person and it's extremely hard to write him as a character so please take him with a pinch of salt!

This is really just my excuse for writing an interview where I can share all the headcanons I've come up with for the band.

Just a note: this takes place before the concert fic!

Okay, enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“We have some amazing guests tonight! First, I’d like to bring out Britain’s latest heartthrobs and our beautiful musical guests for the evening, The Marauders!” Graham calls out excitedly, gesturing to his left to where Remus, Sirius, James, and Peter walk out, all bright-eyed and smiling.

Remus walks up the steps first, nodding humbly at the loud roar the audience gives off. He turns once he’s up on the stage and holds a hand out for Sirius, who walks up in tall heels. She smiles graciously as she walks up the steps, pressing a kiss on the side of Graham’s face, just after Remus does. James and Peter walk in succession, shaking Graham’s hand before taking a seat on the red sofa in their usual arrangement.

Peter wears a simple white shirt, a few buttons undone and pairs it with brown trousers, whilst James opts for a lilac jumper and simple black suit pants. Sirius walks in wearing a long black dress with a high neck. Their hair, messily tied into a bun behind his head showcases her diamond studs and the long slits that run up on each side give the audience a scandalous view of her long legs. Remus, on her right, matches her, wearing a black suit and a black shirt underneath, giving a monochrome effect.

“Welcome to the show everyone,” Graham says after settling down into his own chair, facing the four of them once the crowd calms down.

“Thank you so much for having us, we’re really excited to be here,” Remus answers politely, looking between the host and the audience.

“First and foremost, I think a congratulations is in order.” He raises a brow at them before zeroing in on James. “James Potter, you recently became a father, didn’t you?”

The crowd gasps in shock before erupting into a deafening cheer. James nods proudly, smiling to the point of no return. Peter slaps him on the back whilst Sirius knocks into him, sharing a not-so-secret smile.

“Thank you, yeah, my girlfriend Lily and I had a baby boy a few months ago, well, in July so he’s nearly 7 months now, but yeah, we kept him under wraps for a while, just basking in the joy of being new parents but we’re ready to share him with the world now.” James grins, “His name is Harry and he’s beautiful. Erm, yeah, the last few months have been the best of my entire life.”

The crowd lets out a loud applause again and James accepts it humbly before Graham starts speaking again. “And if I’m not mistaken, you found out whilst you were writing this record, right?” He asks.

“Yeah, so we were well into making the album and Sirius had just finished recording our single Me and Your Mama. We were all in the studio, listening to it for the first time, trying to fine-tune it and I guess it was the emotions and the thrill and anxiety of just finding out, but I listened to the song, which I didn’t even write by the way, Sirius did, but I remember listening to it and thinking, this is how I feel about Lily and my life with her and this little thing that I had just found out about but was so excited to meet and to love, so, I just told them.” James gestures to the other three who smile in tandem with him.

“And he just found out as well,” Sirius adds, smirking as he gestures to James.

“Well, I managed to keep it in for about 3 hours which is my personal best, I think. I blurted it out after we listened to the song and at that point, we didn’t have a name, so I got to name it, as sort of a love letter to Lily but also as a message to my son that this is how I feel about his mother, and this is how much I love her. It’s dedicated to the both of them, really.” James finishes, pressing his hand to his heart as he smiles earnestly.

“That’s beautiful James, congratulations.” Graham smiles sincerely. “What was it like, having James drop such big news on you guys like that?”

“It was definitely a bit of a shock,” Remus laughs, his dimple popping out of his cheek, “But, you know, we couldn’t have been happier. James is definitely the most organised and sensible out of all of us, which doesn’t take a lot, but he is, and he’s the most incredible dad; just getting to watch him every day really secures my faith in humanity.” He says, tilting his head towards James who reaches over to pat his knee.

“You know, if I’m honest, I didn’t hear him properly at first and I thought he was critiquing the song because he looked really stressed out. And I was so confused because the song is so good! But yeah, we were so excited for him and even more excited at the prospect of a little Marauders baby.” Peter says, earning a chuckle from the audience.

“I was going to ask about the song because when we tweeted that you guys were coming onto the show, we had so many requests to ask you about the meaning of it. A lot of people assumed that you, Sirius, were harbouring a secret child!” Graham exclaims, pointing to them.

Sirius smiles, rolling her eyes. “Oh my gosh, it was the funniest thing. We realised the song, Me and Your Mama, as our first single back in November and honestly, we didn’t think much of the title, you know, we were more concerned with the lyrics and the composition and production of the song because we were really proud of it. All of a sudden, we looked online and there were so many people making up stories and rumours that I had a baby or that I knocked someone up; it was crazy! I’m attracted to men!"

“I hear that!” Graham laughs, winking at him.

Sirius barks out a loud laugh alongside him. “Anyway, the song comes out and Lily, more than anyone, is getting the biggest kick out of it. I know that I technically wrote the song, but come on guys, there are four of us. Barely anyone thought it was James which was a bit hilarous. But I’m here to set the record straight: I do not have a secret child, nor have I gotten anyone pregnant, it’s actually James’ secret child. You can all stop speculating now!”

The crowd begins to applause as Sirius takes a sip of their drink. He places it back down on the table and crosses one leg over the other, quickly checking to see if the dress hasn’t revealed something.

"That is just priceless. You’ve heard it here first folks, the secret child Sirius allegedly has is actually James’.” Graham exclaims.

“Now that just sounds like we’re lovers,” James says, turning to face Sirius.

“We cannot confirm nor deny.” Sirius wraps an arm around James’ shoulder, leaning into his embrace with affection.

“You managed to keep all of this under wraps very successfully, especially in this line of work; it’s very impressive,” Graham says.

“Well, when we found out, we didn’t really plan to keep everything hidden and honestly, we’re very surprised we’ve even managed to keep the news hidden for so long. I guess a few people had started speculating but very few. People have seen us and come up to us on the street, even when Lily was six, seven months pregnant. I guess we were lucky in one aspect because she really didn’t show that much, Harry ended up being very small, like me – I was only 5 pounds when I was born, and he was the same. Honestly, I just want to start wearing dad trainers and ugly shirts, you know really submerge myself into dad mode and so that’s the real reason I’m telling you all. Don’t be alarmed when I pull out a fanny pack on tour.” James explains, beaming as the audience begins to clap.

Graham chuckles, nodding alongside James. “And how’s fatherhood been treating you?”

“It’s truly the best. I sometimes think I was born to be a father; you know. I love performing and writing songs and I genuinely love what we do but the time I spend with him, it’s so special. I look forward to everything with him, changing dirty nappies, cleaning up vomit, it’s honestly the best. And getting to see him grow even in the last eight months, It’s made me such a better person, I’m more grateful and I celebrate all the little victories now. You know, I could take all the words in the English language, and it still wouldn’t describe how much I love him.” James says quietly, smiling to himself as the audience coos. He presses a hand over his heart and bows his head in appreciation before taking a sip of water and clearing his throat.

“And how has it been for the rest of you? You’ve all got yourself a little mascot now.” Graham asks, turning to the other three.

“It’s been incredible. We are so obsessed with him. He’s just decked out in merch – actually when we found out about him, Peter and I actually spoke to our merch team to see if we could get little babygrows with our logo on them and hats and honestly anything we could get our hands on, we got it for Harry. He even has his own personalised noise-cancelling headphones.” Sirius gushes on proudly.

“Oh, yes, we have a picture!” Graham turns around and points at the screen, where a picture of Lily, holding Harry in a baby carrier appears on screen. His body is faced towards Lily’s so the audience isn’t able to see his face, but they are able to see the tiny headphones on his head, strapped over with an elastic for security. The angle shows off the band’s logo on one of the earpieces, whilst Lily’s hand covers the logo on the baby carrier. Lily’s face is partly covered by her hair as she leans down to press a kiss to Harry’s head.

The audience breaks out into a chorus of aw, whilst the band, more so James, split into a bright smile, eyeing the picture on the television screen behind Graham.

“Has he listened to the album?” Graham asks.

“Oh yeah! The kid loves our album, so he obviously has good taste.” Peter adds smugly after the crowd settles and the picture fades off the screen.

“Harry’s the first baby I’ve been around in quite a long time and just getting to see him grow, you know, he’s so aware of everything around him and oh, does he love music! Peter’s right, he’s got incredible taste. His favourite album currently is The Colour and The Shape by the Foo Fighters, so if that tells you anything about him, he’s already got a good ear.” Remus nods proudly, leaning back against the sofa. His eyes get caught on the sliver of skin, peeking out from the slits in Sirius’ dress and as if she knows, she shifts in her seat, letting the fabric fall against her leg, revealing more. Remus clears his throat quietly and slaps on a smile, turning his attention back to Graham.

“Can we expect him to be a producer on the next record?” Graham asks playfully,

“Well, he’s in high demand but fingers crossed, hopefully,” James answers, laughing gently.

“I wanted to talk about the record. It’s been out for a week now and it just seems to have shot up, everyone is talking about it, and they're all blown away by it. And I know this is your first album, but you guys have been making music for years now, haven’t you?” Graham asks inquisitively.

“Yeah, so we’ve released a few EPs and singles over the last few years, but this was the first time we’ve committed to an entire album,” Remus explains, leaning his arm on the sofa behind Sirius.

“And you all met in school?”

Peter nods with a knowing smile, “We were all put together in the same dorm. We went to a boarding school and became fast friends. I think it must have been two or three weeks after we first met that we decided to become a band. Our lovely headmistress gave us the idea of the name after we pranked a few people in our year. So yeah, we’ve been at this for a long time."

“We’ve been really lucky to receive so much support over the last decade and more. It’s not normal that a band like ours gets as much attention as we have, especially when we’ve only just released our first proper album, so it genuinely means the world to us. And more importantly, we still like each other!” Sirius giggles, looking over at the other three. When Sirius turns to look at Remus, their eyes lock for a moment too long and they try to cover it up, turning back to face Graham as she shuffles back, pressing her back against Remus’ arm.

“That’s the most important thing!” Graham exclaims, sharing a mighty laugh with the others. “It is quite rare to see a band come out with their debut album and already have such a strong and dedicated following behind them.”

“What can we say, our fans are the best.” Peter grins warmly. “We’re lucky to have a really great relationship with them. They’re very honest,” He laughs softly, “And we always take what they have to say into consideration. It’s funny when you release music, there will always be songs that you’ll personally connect with and love and yet there will always be the odd one or two that the fans vibe with. It’s really interesting to see what they resonate it. After all, we're here because of them.”

“They are very passionate, I must say!” Graham exclaims. “I don’t think we’ve ever had a response like we had when we told them you were coming on. They’re very…well, feral, is the first word that came to mind.”

Peter chokes out a laugh and nods along. “Yeah, they’re very, er, vocal about how much they love us. It’s a bit of an ego trip sometimes but we are very grateful.”

“Now, there’s a very unique thing you four do, especially whilst performing, can you tell us a bit about it?”

“Absolutely, yeah, so we all play multiple instruments, more specifically, we play each other’s instruments. So although my preferred instrument is the drums, the other three can also play the drums fluently. The same way that Remus’ preferred instrument is the bass, and pretty much all of us can play the bass.” Peter explains.

“This means whenever we perform, we sort of hop around on stage, so on one song it might be me on guitar, Sirius on keys, Peter on drums and Remus on bass, which is our standard order, but on other songs, Peter is on keys, I’m on bass, Sirius is on the drums and Remus is on the guitar. We tend to change it up quite frequently, just to keep people on their toes. On certain songs, we have a strict order, but on others, it just depends on who wants to play what, you know, or if someone has a specific request to play a certain instrument.” James continues, gesturing to the other three as he speaks passionately.

“That is one of the most interesting things I’ve heard from a modern band!” Graham smiles in awe as the audience breaks into a loud cheer. “It truly is a feat. How did you four even come up with this idea? Was it planned, or was it fate, that you all found each other and knew how to play every instrument in the book?”

Remus lets out a laugh, swiping a hand over his mouth as he shakes his head back and forth with uncertainty. “I guess it was a bit of both. We were put into our dorms at random, so I doubt it was planned in that way, but when we got to talking, we realised we were all somewhat musically inclined, so we decided to form a band. And then it must have been when we were 15,16?” He turns to look at the others for clarification and then turns back to Graham once they nod, “That’s when we decided to learn each other’s. It was more because we were studying and sometimes one person couldn’t make rehearsals, or someone had an idea for a beat, or a melody and the designated person on that instrument wasn’t available at the time. And then slowly we all learned. We’re still learning right now, to be honest.”

“It’s very rare to hear about natural talent nowadays; it’s very refreshing. Now tell us a bit about the album. It’s only been out a week, but it’s been getting amazing reviews, I mean, people are going crazy over it!” Graham says excitedly.

“Well, it’s our first official album, so we decided to go very cliché and just call it The Marauders. We haven’t discussed it in depth but I’m pretty sure we’re going for a Led Zeppelin thing.” Sirius says, sucking in a quick breath as Remus’ fingers begin to stroke her shoulder blades, ever so delicately. “It’s also a lot more personal than anything else we’ve put out. It’s about love and sadness and sex. You know, what every great album is made up of.”

“Of course,” Graham nods at Sirius knowingly, “And you’ve got quite a few songs to support that. Sex on fire is one that sticks out. Tell me, what is that one about?” He asks smugly.

“Sirius wrote that one, didn’t you?” Remus asks, tilting his head forward to catch their gaze.

She pushes her tongue into her cheek, narrowing her eyes at Remus for a second before nodding slowly. They turn back to face Graham, who’s looking a bit too pleased with himself. “What can I say, the title speaks for itself. The song, like a lot of the songs on the album, is just about really good sex.” She says before smirking. He leans down and takes a sip of his drink, angling their body so that their entire thigh is on display. She smiles when Remus chokes on his breath lightly and watches as he takes a sip of his own drink, pushing a hand through his hair.

“Well, the album has absolutely skyrocketed everywhere! This is from a recent Rolling Stone article:

The Marauders embark on a journey of sex, sadness, and self-actualisation through their self-titled debut album, giving us an insight into the wonderous inner workings of the London-based group. Their ode to psychedelic rock is signified by the album's opener, Me and Your Mama, and ends with the heartfelt dedication to childhood and adolescence, a theme that runs heavily through all their work. From Sirius Black’s erotic recital of desire to Remus Lupin’s gut-wrenching lyricism on Lover, You Should’ve Come Over, the Marauders continue to successfully seduce their audience on another incredible, yet not surprising, record.

I mean, how incredible is that!” Graham cries out, as the audience bursts into applause, hollering, and whistling whilst the four try to hide their sheer astonishment.

“It’s lovely to seduce an audience, isn’t it?” James says, getting mildly flustered.

“Darling, it’s lovely to be seduced,” Peter says, patting James on the leg before reaching down to take a sip of his drink. The audience, once again, erupts into a fit of laughter as Peter looks over his glass and winks at them.

“Here, here! And you four are about to embark on your first world tour! You must be so excited!”

“We’re absolutely buzzing! We’ve done some smaller tours but never an entire thing all in one go, so we’re really excited. We’re very fortunate to be able to travel to some really cool places.” James smiles appreciatively.

“We always get such a rush whenever we perform so getting to do that every night for the next few months is definitely very exciting. It’s also worth the hours we put in just to see our fans singing our songs with us, screaming it at the top of their lungs – it’s the best part, hands down.” Peter continues, flashing a smile as he presses his hand to his heart.

“Will Harry be joining you on tour?” Graham presses with a cheeky smile.

“Yeah, he’ll be sorting out our lighting for us,” Sirius replies with a straight face.

James tucks his lips into his mouth as his eyes crinkle with joy. “Well, he’s still young, but he’s already showing signs of being a musical prodigy, so maybe in 20 years, he’ll be playing alongside us. For now, though, he’ll be supporting from the stands, wearing a lot of protective gear!”

“I think everyone is more interested in whether or not Lily will be coming on tour with us.” Remus drawls out, wiggling his eyebrows at James.

“Ah, yes! I wanted to ask you about Lily, because she features on one of your songs, About You, is it?” Graham ponders.

“Yes!” James replies cheerfully, straightening up at the mention of his girlfriend.

“And how did that come about? Is Lily a musician too?”

“No, she’s a medical researcher, specialising in women’s health so her job is definitely a lot more important than ours,” James emphasises.

“But she does have an incredible voice, always has.” Remus adds, shuffling forward to where his leg barely grazes Sirius’.

“We were in the studio one day, giving Harry a tour, he must have been 3, or 4 weeks maybe and we had just played some of the album to her. We were then brainstorming some other ideas and she walked in, humming the bridge of the song. And it was like a movie, where all four of us turned to look at her and then we looked at each other because we knew, it clicked then, that she was the missing part. You know, she completed the song.” Sirius explains thoughtfully, pressing her hand down on the sofa next to Remus’ until they’re touching.

“And so we asked,” James says.

“More like begged!” Remus corrects, grinning.

“Yeah, that’s more like it. We begged her. And she wasn’t sure, you know, she had just given birth and kept going on about how she wasn’t a professional which we did not care about at all. Poor thing was breastfeeding when we asked but she finally agreed, and we only recorded two takes and it genuinely is the greatest song I’ve ever made. It never fails to make me smile.” James laughs softly, crossing one leg over the other as he leans back against the backrest.

“And it’s become such a fan favourite! The question we’ve gotten asked the most is if Lily will be joining us on tour and we are trying! We are!” Peter exclaims, putting his hands up to surrender.

“She’s just a very busy woman with a very important job so, hopefully, she might be able to take some time out, I don’t know, but hopefully! Fingers crossed!” James cries, holding up his crossed fingers for the audience and camera.

The crowd cheers as Graham sorts through the remainder of his talking cards. “Lily was originally your friend, wasn’t she, Remus?”

“Yeah, we grew up together in Wales; we were neighbours, but we moved around the same time, I moved to Reading whilst she moved to Ireland, but our families are close, so we stayed in touch.” Remus explains, leaning forward as he spreads his legs, knocking one into Sirius’. “After school, she moved to London to go to university, and we were making music, so we reconnected, and I introduced her to James.”

“There is more to that story, Moony, go on. Tell everyone how she met James.” Sirius urges, leaning forward convincingly.

“This is the funniest story!” Peter whispers, leaning forward towards Graham. “Happened nearly 6 years ago and I still get such a crack out of it.”

Remus smiles at Sirius before pursing his lips. “Alright, she’ll hate me for it, but you guys are right, it’s too good not to tell.” He gives in with a grin. “So this was back when we were 18 or 19 so she was in her first year of university and we were making music full time. We had put out an EP and a few singles and were starting to get some attention, which was very cool. Erm, but it was a random day when we had met for coffee. I should also preface this by saying that I hadn’t told her we were in the band, I had only told her that my friends are I were trying to pursue music. So one day, we’re having coffee and our song starts playing in the café!” He exclaims, face splitting into a wide smile. “And I’m so surprised and shocked that I sort of zone out for a moment. I genuinely freeze up and I’m smiling like an idiot to myself until Lily pulls me out of my thoughts and asks if I’ve ever heard of the band playing, The Marauders.

He looks at the audience with an awkward smile as they proceed to laugh. The other three on stage try and stifle a laugh whilst Graham’s jaw drops open. “No!”

“Yes!” Remus replies with wide eyes. “So I freeze, and she goes on about how her friend from University is obsessed with them and how she started listening to them and now she really enjoys their music. Them being us.”

“So, did you tell her?” Graham exclaims, sitting on the edge of his seat.

“God, no! I was so freaked out and confused; I had no idea what to do. And the thing is, she starts humming along to the song, and I genuinely become a bit speechless. I have no idea what to say, and she obviously realises that and asks me if I’m okay. I then blurt out the fact that I have some tickets to their show! We were playing at the roundhouse as part of a festival thing. I told her I knew of the sound guy working with them and that I’d be happy to invite her and her friend to the concert that was in a week’s time.” Remus continues to explain, collecting more and more laughs from the crowd.

“What happened when she saw you guys perform?”

“Well, I decided not to tell her. I wanted to see if she realised before we went on. The other thing is that we hadn’t done a lot of photoshoots and appearances, so a lot of people knew us by our music, less so by our faces. Anyway, I obviously rehearse with the band and then text Lily that I’ll meet her in line. So then we’re in line, and our tickets get scanned. I got tickets up in the seats just so that I’d be able to identify her whilst I was on stage. Her friend and her get comfortable and about 10 minutes before we’re supposed to go on, I tell her that I need to use the loo. The next time she sees me, I’m on stage!”

“I still remember her face,” Sirius says, breaking out into a laugh. “Remus had told us about the whole thing, and we found it so funny. We walked out onto the stage and started playing, and we all looked at this redheaded girl whose face completely dropped!

“Yeah, so we’re on stage and we do the first song and then I introduce us. I think I said something like “This show is particularly special because I’ve brought one of my oldest and best friends who knew of our band yet failed to realise that I am part of it!” And it was truly, the funniest thing that has ever happened. She looked so embarrassed poor thing! And then I brought her backstage, she threatened to beat me up, the usual. And that’s how James and Lily met, the day I surprised Lily by being a member of one of her favourite bands.” Remus finishes, brushing a hand through his hair. He leans down and grabs his drink, taking a few sips to help with his flushed expression.

“Oh my god, that belongs in a movie. You guys have the movie rights for that, right?” Graham asks, fanning the cards over his hot face.

“It truly is the best story. We tell everyone we meet, and everyone gets such a kick out of it!” James laughs, leaning over his legs with a bright smile. “I should remind everyone that it was not Lily’s fault, Remus is right, there were not a lot of photos of us as a band at that point, we were quite mysterious for a while. But yeah, kids that’s how I met your mother!”

"Remus even wrote a song about her, before she knew about us," Peter adds, nodding to him.

"Yeah, it's called Ziggy. She has the brightest, fiery orange hair; my parents used to call her that when we were younger and it just stuck. I still call her Ziggy, even to this day." Remus chuckles.

It takes a moment for the audience and the four of them to settle, all taking a sip of their drinks to cool their throats. Graham waits for the quiet and darts his eyes down to his talking cards before crossing his leg over the other. He narrows his eyes, looking at the four suspiciously. “Do you four enjoy the holidays?”

Sirius raises an eyebrow. “…Yes. What are you playing at Graham?”

“Nothing, nothing! But I’ve heard that you four particularly enjoy Halloween.”

James and Peter burst out into laughter, falling on top of each other whilst Sirius covers her face with her hands. Remus on the other hand, purses his lips and takes a deep breath. “Who sent you the video? It was Lily, wasn’t it?”

“Yes, it was Lily.”

“I knew it! I no longer feel bad about telling that story! Lily Evans, I know where you live!” Remus cries out in a huff, pointing to all the cameras in haste.

“As a treat for the audience and viewers at home, we have a Graham Norton exclusive. A never seen before video of The Marauders. This was at Halloween, correct?” Graham asks the four after speaking to the camera.

“Yeah, we threw a Halloween party last year at the house.” Peter nods, wiping a tear from his eye.

“Alright, let’s just play it before these lot start crying!” Graham says to a camera before it moves to the television behind him.

The video starts to play and on-screen are Sirius and Remus, dressed in the famous Fleabag jumpsuit and Hot Priest outfit respectfully. In the background, I’ve had the time of my life by Bill Medley plays and Sirius and Remus sing to each other on the coffee table makeshift stage. The house is filled to the brim with people, all cheering at the two performers. They sing at each other before jumping off and pushing people back.

Sirius, then, runs to the other end of the room just as the song begins to build into the iconic chorus. She sets off, running towards Remus who braces himself for them and just like that, she jumps into his hands. Remus lifts him high, up above his head gracefully and spins her gently as she keeps her body tight and straight. The audience around them lets out a roar of cheers as Remus puts Sirius down gently, holding him close, as if they are about to kiss.

The video then suddenly jumps to another clip, where it seems as if Remus is running towards Sirius. The audience in the studio gasp as Sirius attempts to lift Remus above their head, yet instead, she ends up flipping him over their own body, effectively throwing him over the sofa. Remus manages to fall into a flip and land gracefully enough for being extremely drunk.

“I’m sorry,” James starts, clearing his throat as he tries to not burst into a fit of laughter, “Moony is literally the size of a tree, what made you think you could lift him?”

“I was drunk! And he picked me up so easily!” Sirius groans, trying to shield his eyes from the screen.

“It’s like you threw him over your shoulder!” Peter gasps out, falling back onto the sofa as he claps a few times, breath hitching as he laughs.

“I’d like to point out that for being completely off my face drunk, I do manage to stick the landing quite well,” Remus says, trying his hardest not to grimace.

“No, wait, actually I agree,” Graham replies, nodding. “You’re quite flexible aren’t you, Remus?”

“Grew up doing gymnastics, yeah.” Remus takes a sip of his drink, face flushed. “Is this the part where I redeem myself?”

“Well, if you can, we’d love to see it,” Graham asks slyly, gesturing to the empty space between the audience and the stage. The crowd begins to cheer, and Remus looks as if he’s contemplating it, turning to look at the other three who smile with elevated eyebrows.

He finally stands up and the audience roars in anticipation. The other three and Graham begin to clap along as he removes his suit jacket, Sirius automatically reaching out to hold it. They share a sweet look before Remus steps down from the stage, mapping out the area.

“I haven’t stretched and I’m wearing a suit, so…” He says, shrugging.

“A man of many talents, our Moony.” Sirius comments, watching attentively.

Remus takes a deep breath once the audience settles and in an instant, throws his body back, flipping over himself until he’s back on his feet with a little jump. The audience begins to applaud again, and this time the four on stage give a standing ovation, clapping loudly. Peter brings his fingers to his mouth and whistles loudly, as James reaches over to pat Remus on the back. Sirius holds the jacket out for him, and he slides his arms back in, nodding a quick thanks before sitting back down.

“Christ! That was terrifying!” Graham cries out, fanning himself.

“That’s what would’ve happened in the version where I hadn’t just thrown back 4 shots of tequila,” Remus says, wrinkling his nose. “I blame Peter for that fall, he’s the one that got me drunk.”

“Oi, when you say it like that, it sounds awful!” Peter says defensively, pressing a hand to his chest. “Remus gets absolutely plastered every Halloween. It’s become a sort of tradition.”

“It’s the best holiday.” Remus shrugs. “It’s just nice to see everyone. We always have a big party at the house and it’s not a family holiday where there are commitments. It’s the least stressful one in my opinion.”

“Yeah, but that’s because you never plan it! And you always make us stay behind to clean!” James argues playfully.

“You used to live there!” Remus retaliates with a small laugh.

“I should ask, James, what was it like moving out of your house? You’ve probably lived with these three for over 10 years?” Graham asks gently.

“It was definitely emotional, but Peter moved out after a few months of us buying it!” James reveals, pointing to Peter on his right.

“Listen, I’ve grown up with women my entire life, my mums and two sisters. Then I moved into a dorm with three other people. It was time to live by myself. And don’t listen to James, I’m down the road, closer than he is!” Peter explains, gently shoving his shoulder.

“So it’s just the two of you?” Graham asks cunningly, pointing between Remus and Sirius.

“And Frankie, our dog,” Remus adds.

“And how’s that?”

“Living together?” Remus repeats. “It’s lovely. We even have our own studio in the basement, so we’re always working. But it’s nice; we’ve been in the same house ever since we left school and so much has happened in it. The house itself is a big inspiration for a lot of the stuff we write.” He finishes, trying his hardest to divert the conversation.

“Peter has a point though, do you two not crave your own space after living together for so long?” Graham presses.

“Well, the house is big. And it’s incredibly expensive in London, Graham; we’ve got a mortgage to pay.” Sirius says feigning innocence as her leg bumps into Remus’.

“I highly doubt your mortgage is a problem, especially being such successful musicians,” Graham argues playfully, raising a brow.

Sirius shrugs, taking a sip of her drink. “What can I say, Remus would get lonely without me.” They say in a low voice, shifting his jaw to try and hide the smile growing on her face. All eyes are on Sirius and then Remus whose lips curl ever so slightly into a smirk.

“Alright, I’ll stop pestering. You are treating us to a song.” Graham turns to the audience as the four move off the stage and towards their instruments. “Alright! Performing their hit single, Me and Your Mama off of their debut album, it’s The Marauders!”

Notes:

Lily!!! The story of how Lily found out about the band is genuinely the entire inspiration for this band AU and I'm so glad I got to write it in this fic. I think it's such a funny way for her to find out, I can just imagine her face when she sees Remus on stage!

And of course, James Potter is a father in this universe, he is meant to be a DILF - And baby Harry wearing Marauders Merch CANON!!!

Also, Remus Lupin doing a back flip - yeah, that was for my own entertainment (and Sirius') hahaha *bites fist* I may have written a character that is just too attractive

Let me know what you think!

Kudos and comments are appreciated :)))
