Chapter Text
Fate has its particular way to work. If you asked Seokjin, he would tell you that Fate has a twisted way to work.
He grew up listening stories about soulmates and their link, how it was the first thought that they listen, that little peak of their lover’s soul and how it was meinfull and how much said about their significant other. So since he can remember he dreamed about that first thought that it would tell him a vital and fundamental piece of information about his soulmate, perhaps it would be about their interests, perhaps their goals or even their worries and Seokjin would remember and treasure every bit to form the puzzle and then find his soulmate.
So it was so underwhelming when the first thought that he ever listen was,
“Ok, paper toilet, repellent, salt, noodles and coffee… ah and a beer, why not? Don’t forget!”
It was so mundane and tell him nothing about his soulmate and it was even worse when a couple hours later the second thought he listen was,
“Paper toilet, salt, beer and what else? Ah c’mon, think!”
Disappointed but at least now he knows that his soulmate has a bad memory. Or it is better to said that two of his soulmates have a bad memory ‘cause the next day a new thought with a new voice appeared,
“Haa… seasoned seaweed flakes, I forgot to add them”
By the third voice Seokjin was convinced that Fate might be playing games with him, maybe Seokjin had offended Fate in his past life and now Fate has a revenge on him ‘cause nothing else explains that “A… or it is D? Or both?”
A high scholar, it must be a joke ‘cause there is no way that one of his soulmates was still in high school. Maybe they were a deserter and they were finishing high school or maybe they went to a shitty university. None of both excuses give Seokjin pace.
On the fourth voice he decided that he didn’t want soulmates.
“Keep up with tik tok trends shouldn't be this hard”
If a high scholar was bad, a tiktoker was the second worst thing. So why even bother? Fate was overrated and he can choose his own destiny. Was he being dramatic? Yes. Was he justified? Also, yes.
While Seokjin was having a crisis, the fifth voice was also having a crisis but for a reason completely different.
“What happens if my soulmates don't have an internal monologue? Would they listen to my thoughts anyways? Or do they see my thoughts written? Noo, they wouldn't understand my handwriting! Please no, let them hear me! Wait, what happens if my soulmate is deaf or mute?”
Fortunately Fate had mercy of Seokjin and he couldn’t hear the rest of his soulmate spiraling. That was something, maybe he could pick a soulmate between the fifth, the first ones seem normal enough a bit forgetful but everyone has their flaws or maybe he talk to soon ‘cause a voice that he hear before just thought,
“Never think about it before but soulmate system can be a bit ableist”
So his soulmates were overthinkers. Great!
The sixth and last was interesting and everything that Seokjin expected of the first thought.
“Wei Wuxian missed the summers on Lotus Pier. Where he spent his days with his Jie and Jiang Cheng gathering lotus seeds and eating them on the dock. He wished that he could come back even for a day, he dreamed of taking Lan Zhan and A-Yuan to Lotus Pier, showed them the city and told them stories of his childhood. A couple of strong arms that hugged him from behind brought him back to the present. “Wei Ying, where do you go?””
A writer, published or not, at least Seokjin knows something about them. Finally he can feel a connection with his soulmates. Don’t get him wrong, listening to random and common thoughts is funny sometimes but it is like listening to other people’s conversations as you walk by the street, you know? Funny and entertaining but you forget about them as soon as you listen to another conversation.
So yes, Seokjin was happy and when the voice of the tiktoker talk again, he tried to be less judgy.
“What the fuck is a wei wuxian?”
Same. Oh, their first coincidence. Maybe there is a future with his soulmates.

Fate has its particular way to work. If you asked Taehyung, he would tell you that it is a perfect way to work. If you think about it, you would know that everything is about romance.
A shopping list? A perfect opportunity for a meet-cute on your favorite store.
Opportunity that Taehyung didn’t miss, he went to his favorite store and waited for his soulmate but they didn’t cross paths that day. He was sad but it was ok, nothing that is worthy is easy.
His second chance was a mystery. Where did his soulmate add seasoned seaweed flakes? He tried to order a couple meals and asked if there were seasoned seaweed flakes missing but he received a no for answer. So he had to stop ‘cause he hadn’t enough money to spend.
On the third one, he felt close to his objective. His soulmate had an exam, Taehyung also had a week of exams. He felt on his bones that they attend the same university but without knowing what were A and what were D, he found himself on a dead end.
Next he recorded tik tok challenges and saw and commented on every last trend that could belong to his soulmate (male, korean, in his 20’s, beautiful (he didn’t see them yet but he knew that they are beautiful).
Sometimes he wondered which of his thoughts his soulmates heard. Were they trying to find him, too? To help them, Taehyung made the effort to think often about his favorite places to go, to think about his plans for the day, littles clues that would guide them to him. But a month passed since he heard the first voice and there is no sign of his soulmates yet.
But he kept hearing new voices so he still had hope that once he heard all of them, they would be reunited.
When the number of soulmate ascended to five, he made a part of his routine to check the Lán Zhàn | Lán Wàngjī/Wèi Yīng | Wèi Wúxiàn tag every night waiting for his soulmate post.
Nothing could ruin his excitement or break his determination to find his soulmates and his happy ever after. Anything could make him doubt, anything except his last soulmate.
“Well, he is hot. This will be worth it after all.”
Taehyung was sure that he wasn’t the only one to scream “What?!”
