Work Text:

Stiles noticed things, details that others might overlook. And one detail that had recently caught his attention—much to his chagrin—was the size difference between him and Peter Hale.

It wasn't just that Peter was taller, although the height difference was significant. No, it was the whole package: the broad shoulders, the muscular arms, the way his clothes seemed to cling to him in a way that was both intimidating and, well, kind of hot.

Stiles shook his head, trying to dispel the thought. This was Peter Hale he was thinking about, the same Peter Hale who had a penchant for sarcasm and a moral compass that was, at best, questionable. But try as he might, Stiles couldn't ignore the flush that crept up his cheeks every time he found himself standing a little too close to the older man.

"Something on your mind, Stiles?" Peter's voice broke through his reverie, tinged with that familiar, teasing lilt.

Stiles looked up, meeting Peter's eyes. "What? No, nothing. Why would you think that?"

Peter chuckled, taking a step closer. "You've been staring into space for the past five minutes. Either you're contemplating the mysteries of the universe, or you're thinking about something—or someone—else."

Stiles felt his cheeks redden, cursing his inability to keep a poker face. "I'm just tired, okay? It's been a long day."

Peter raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. "If you say so."

As Peter turned to walk away, Stiles couldn't help but let his gaze drift downward, taking in the way Peter's shirt stretched across his back, the way his jeans fit just a little too well. It was ridiculous, really, how something as simple as a size difference could have such an effect on him. But as he watched Peter walk away, Stiles couldn't shake the feeling that it was about more than just physical size. It was about presence, about the way Peter seemed to fill any room he walked into, both literally and metaphorically.

Stiles sighed, his thoughts drifting back to the many times he'd found himself pinned by Peter's gaze, the way his heart would race when Peter stood just a little too close. It was disconcerting, the way Peter seemed to loom over him, making him feel both vulnerable and inexplicably safe at the same time.

It was a contradiction, one that Stiles couldn't quite reconcile. Because for all his bravado, for all his sarcastic quips and eye rolls, Peter Hale had a way of getting under his skin, of making him question things he'd never thought to question before.

And as much as he hated to admit it, Stiles found himself wanting to explore that contradiction, to delve deeper into the enigma that was Peter Hale. Because beneath the sarcasm and the smirks, there was something else, something that Stiles couldn't quite put his finger on but desperately wanted to understand.

So as he watched Peter walk away, Stiles made a decision. He would stop running, stop hiding behind his own sarcasm and deflection. He would face whatever this was, this strange, confusing pull between them.

As much as he hated to admit it, Peter Hale had gotten to him, had wormed his way into his thoughts and feelings in a way that no one else ever had. And as terrifying as that was, it was also exhilarating, a challenge that Stiles found himself wanting to take on.

So as he took a deep breath, steeling himself for whatever came next, Stiles couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation, of excitement. Because for the first time in a long time, he was stepping into the unknown, into a future that was as uncertain as it was thrilling.

As he looked up, catching Peter's eye from across the room, Stiles felt a shiver of anticipation run down his spine. Because whatever happened next, whatever this was between them, he knew it was going to be one hell of a ride.
