Memory

Summary:

When Scarlet Grey dies due to 'unforseen circumstances' while away at boarding school, Ivy is forced to impersonate her sister, in an attempt to 'take her place'.

Whilst on the hunt for diary pages, Ivy stumbles upon a piece of information that could help her get to the bottom of the mystery of her sister's dissapearance, and sets out to visit the boy in hopes of uncovering some answers.

What Ivy stumbles upon however, is far different than anything Scarlet desrcibed in her diary.

Notes:

I don't think anyone's ever wanted these two things to crossover, but here it is anyway.
Enjoy this thing that no one asked for!

Chapter 1: Someone needs to know the truth

Chapter Text

What a nightmare.

Ivy let out a silent breath of relief.

A close-call with Penny of all people was not ideal. It was especially difficult given the fact that she had no clue as to why she was even upset with Scarlet in the first place - what ever had Scarlet done to illicit such an intense hatred in Penny?

Oh Scarlet, what did you do?

Ivy sighed. At least in the end she had gotten what she had come for.

Crumpled up and covered in dust, the most important part was Scarlet's hand-writing, clear as day flowing across the paper. Ivy unfurled her fist, finally allowing herself to relax as she quietly nestled into the covers of her bed. The gentle snores of Ariadne filled the room as Ivy unfurled the pages.

You're going to meet a girl named Penny Winchester.  She's got a whole swarm of bees in her bonnet when it comes to me so you should STAY AWAY FROM HER.

Scarlet was, if nothing else, late.

Penny thinks she's the queen, and will try and order you about so you have to put her in her place. She actually has more in common with a poisonous toad.

The other person you have to watch out for is Nadia Sayani. She's shaping up to be Penny's new sidekick.  She looks pretty and simple, but don't be fooled; she's super rich and super clever, so you'll have to brush up with your acting skills. She might spot that something's afoot.

Ivy wasn't sure her acting up to this point had been anything more than a botched attempt at best, and a failure at worst. This was going to be even more difficult than she had first thought.

She turned over the page, checking that the writing did indeed carry through to the other side, and wasn't going to leave her on a cliff-hanger now.

Don't get discouraged by Penny and Nadia though: you have someone else on your side.

Ivy's eyes widened. Someone else was on her side?

She kept reading, curious as to who Scarlet could be talking about.

I know somone who can help you - he's the only friend I've made here.

His name is Varian - weird name, I know,

As much as I'd love to point out how annoying he can be, I think you two would get along really well. He's almost wetter than you, which is an incredible achievement, but he's pretty nice. Well for a boy anyway.

I will warn you, he has a tendency to create things that blow up in his face - mind yourself around him, he can be dangerous, if well-meaning. Also, don't bring up The Adventures of Flynn Rider around him. Once you get him talking, it's very difficult to get him to stop - if you're not careful he may end up talking your ear off, or boring you to an early grave

Classic Scarlet - teasing everyone and everything.

You can talk to him about all of this. You need to find the rest of my diary; he can help you. So meone else needs to know the truth about

About what?

Ivy fumbled about, trying to check if she had perhaps dropped a page. But she hadn't. This was the last of the message, at least for now.

So much for not leaving me on a cliff-hanger.

Ivy sighed, sagging back into the sheets, her thoughts buzzing like a swarm of bees.

Clearly, there were many things Scarlett hadn't told her about Rookwood. Varian was one of many things Ivy had never had insight into, nor did she know where to begin looking for information on him. Where does one go to meet a boy when they are attending an all girl's boarding school like Rookwood?

Perhaps the townspeople of Rookwood would know of him? Ivy thought it may be a possibility - she would have to wait until the weekend before she was even allowed to ask for permission, but it would surely be worth it, if she could uncover who this 'Varian' was, and finally have someone on her side in all of this.

Of course, that presented the issue of keeping everything out of knowledge of her fellow students. It especially pertained to the likes of Penny and Nadia, who would no doubt go straight to Miss Fox if they found something they could use against her.

Ivy decided it was too important not to take the risk - she was going to need all of the help she could get if she was going to get to the bottom of the mystery at hand. If Scarlet trusted this boy, then she was going to have to as well. She couldn't do this on her own.

Her eyelids began to grow heavy. Tomorrow would be a new day. Another day without her sister. Another day of pretending to be someone she wasn't. Another day to hunt for diary pages. Another day gone until the weekend.

Ivy pulled the pillow over her head, trying her hardest to sleep. She clung to the new hope she had been given, desperate to hold on to it.

Someone needs to know the truth.
