Tsurugi knew this was going to happen. Once they saved the galaxy, it was only natural everyone wanted to go do the things they never could before. He knew that.
But he didn't know at the time just how lonely that would be. No more always having company. No more spontaneous late night adventures. No more... just being able to go see someone any time you wanted.
Now, don't get it wrong. Tsurugi was glad everyone got to do what they always dreamed of. He was content that he got to continue with things as well. He just missed the close-knit relationships that had developed between all of the saviors.
Especially one relationship. Toward the end of their journey, he had potentially gotten into a romantic relationship. Tsurugi always said potentially because they never said much about their relationship status and it had been... how long since they had seen each other? Good things never seemed to last for him.
It was a late night. Tsurugi had abandoned trying to sleep. Once he started thinking about these things, there was no stopping it. Dare he say those thoughts haunted him at times. Knowing there was nothing he could do to bring back those days.
All the Kyurangers sent messages to each other in some capacity on quite a normal basis. It wasn't like they didn't talk to each other. But there certainly was a difference between reading a message and actually listening to the story.
Tsurugi was broken out of his thoughts by a knock on his door. Before he could say anything, the door to his room opened. There weren't many people who had access to his house like this. That made figuring out who it was easier, though the culprit did show themselves before Tsurugi even had a chance to guess.
"Spada?!"
Tsurugi had not been expecting any visitors. Let alone any visitors this late at night.
"I uh, was in the area and thought I'd drop by." Spada offered. A very obvious lie.
"My word... why are you here?" Tsurugi questioned, getting off his bed and walking over to Spada.
Spada didn't reply right away. He avoided looking directly at Tsurugi. Almost seemed as if he was fumbling for what to say.
"I... I missed you... so I kind of... spontaneous idea?" Spada mumbled out.
"You just decided to come all the way to Earth without any thought?"
"Maybe?" Spada smiled nervously.
Tsurugi was in disbelief. He had not ever expected something like this to happen. He had no idea what to do now. He had no time to prepare for a visit. Hopefully his guest didn't mind if things were a bit out of order around here. Then again, he was the one who dropped by without warning.
"Well... it's quite late. You must be tired." Tsurugi changed the subject.
"Mmm... but, I can stay up and talk for a bit. It doesn't seem like you were trying to sleep either." Spada replied.
"I was actually just thinking about how it's been a while since I've seen anyone in person."
"You manifested my arrival here." Spada teased.
"Come sit." Tsurugi invited him to the bed.
The two sat in silence for a while. There was a lot to say, but no words to say things with.
"I... I'm sorry about not visiting sooner..." Spada started the conversation. "We... have some loose ends to tie up."
"I guess we do." Tsurugi agreed.
They had never once mentioned the brief relationship they had since going their separate ways. Looks like it was finally time to make a choice about what they were to each other. Tsurugi knew what option would be the easiest on the two of them to choose, but he really didn't want that one at all.
"I... don't really know how to say this..." Spada mumbled.
"Do you not wish to continue what we started?" Tsurugi assumed the worst-case scenario. Considering everything, it seemed the most logical thing to do, even if that wasn't the ideal choice.
Spada's eyes widened at his words. "No! Not... not at all. I... I do want to... make this work."
"Oh... my bad." Tsurugi apologized. "I'm more than willing to do that as well."
"It's just... we're both so busy with our jobs." Spada sighed. "But I love you. And I want to be with you more. Being away from everyone really made me realize how much I miss what we had back then. I never thought I'd get this lonely."
"Me either. I didn't think we'd see each other so little." Tsurugi nodded. "I miss those days when we were all together. Especially when it was us two alone."
"Glad to know we're on the same page despite the time." Spada smiled.
Tsurugi stiffled a yawn before he spoke again. "We can discuss potential solutions in the morning. It's quite late... and I have meetings left and right tomorrow."
"Of course. Are we... sharing the bed?"
"If you're okay with that."
"I am. I'd love to be near you again."
That was enough of a decision. The two shifted to lay down on the bed together. They both were lying on their backs in silence. The atmosphere was awkward.
"So... um..." Tsurugi tried to think of something to say. "Do you... want to cuddle?"
"That sounds like a wonderful idea." Spada was very quick to agree to that.
Tsurugi didn't get a chance to even move his position before Spada had already snuggled up against him, laying his head on his chest. Guess this was the cuddling position for the night then. He could work with that.
Tsurugi readjusted the blankets over the two of them and then wrapped his arms around Spada. It had been so long since they had done something like this. He really missed these moments. It felt so natural to do this again.
So natural that Tsurugi moved and kissed Spada on the head without a second thought. Not that Spada was going to complain. His smile only grew after that action.
"I love you." Tsurugi stated. "I'm really glad you decided to drop by tonight. It made things a lot better."
"Glad to help..." Spada replied, yawning as well now.
"Goodnight. Sleep well."
"Night."
They fell into a comfortable silence. Spada fell asleep in a few minutes. Tsurugi stayed awake for a while. He was already puzzling over how they could make this relationship work out. It was going to be hard to do. They both had very busy lives.
But, nothing could keep the apart forever. For a big as their galaxy was, it still had a limit to it. They could always find each other again. And Tsurugi was certain that no matter what, they would keep finding each other no matter how hard things tried to keep them apart.
