Amazing at Hiding My Feelings
An Owl House fanfic
Chapter one
“Wake up, sleepy head!” Called a voice cheerfully.
“Five more minutes,” he grumbled.
“Oh come on Hunter, we’re gonna be late for school!” Luz knew he wouldn’t want to miss his first day.
He shot up. Pausing to push some of his hair out of his face and rub his eyes. “Titan! I forgot!” Luz rolled her eyes, “That’s why I came to tell you.” She grinned at him and he glared back sleepily. After about a minute, Luz turned to leave and Hunter got out of bed and followed her up the basement stairs. He had asked if he could stay in the basement as he had so many good memories down there, also it was closest to the sewing machine. They split off in the hallway, Hunter went to grab some pants and a shirt and go change in the bathroom. Luz turned the corner into the kitchen. “Buenas noches!” She said to her mom and Vee. “Good morning Luz.” Vee smiled, “did you get Hunter out of bed?” Camilla asked, not turning away from the stove where she was cooking some eggs for the kids. “Yup! He’s changing right now.” Just as she finished speaking, he entered the kitchen and took a seat across from Vee. “What’s for breakfast?” Hunter asked, yawning as Waffles came in and settled herself down on his shoulder. “Scrambled eggs.” Camilla replied, turning to smile at her children. Luz sat down next to Vee, “are you guys excited for your first day of school?” She asked, “Duh.” Hunter said almost immediately, Vee took a little longer, “It’s going to be… a little weird,” She sighed. Luz tilted her head, confused. “I mean, remember Masha?” Luz nodded, guessing where this was going. “They go to Gravesfield high as well, and I made friends with them as you” Hunter thanked Camilla as she handed him his food. “Why not just tell them?” He asked, Luz and Vee turned to stare at him. “From what I’ve heard, they’re really into myths and magic and such, even if they don't know it’s actually real.” Vee rested her chin on her hand and thought for a moment, “Huh, I never thought of that. It could work, and even if they tried to expose us no one would believe them, probably.” Luz nodded slowly, then got up. “I’ll text the others real quick and ask them if they think it’s okay,” she paused, “it would be nice to have another human friend who knows about the demon realm.” “Ahem” Camilla coughed playfully “ friend mom. Not my mother, though I’m glad you know.” her mom smiled, “Be back quickly hija, your food is getting cold.” About five minutes later, Luz bounded back into the room. “They’re cool with it!” she announced, “That’s great!” Hunter grinned. “We’d better go wait for the bus” Vee said, looking at her phone. All three of them got up from the table, “go on ahead,” Hunter said “I’ll catch up.” He started picking up their plates and put them in the sink, making a mental note to wash them later. He was just leaving the kitchen when Camilla turned back to him, “Oh, Hunter?” He turned, tilting his head “yea?” “You can bring Waffles.” He blinked, “what?” Camilla smiled, “I let the school know that one of my kids had been troubled and that his bird was for support.” “O-oh, thanks!” He smiled back at her before patting Waffle on the head, who’d never left his shoulder, and turned back to exit the kitchen, going to meet the others outside.
