Chapter Text

Chapter 1: Sister Moon Singer

Tavar had always walked the beaches of the Silver Sea on nights when her sisters fought. Unfortunately, she had made a habit of it since her sisters fought regularly. Tonight was particularly clear. She could see the faraway stars, and the Sister Moons seemed to smile at her with bright, happy faces. The waves lapped gently at her bare feet, and a warm breeze kissed her face and tossed her unbraided hair. This was Tavra’s only free time to relax, let her guard down, and, most importantly, let herself take a break. She was always busy running around keeping the paladins in check and listening to her family fight. But walking on the beach, she let the waves wash away her footprints in the sand and her troublesome life. She wanted to settle down and live a happy, easy life. She hated being busy and hated always keeping her family together. Tavra just wanted to be Tavra, not a Paladin, Princess Tavra, or even Katavra, just Tavra. She also wanted not to be so lonely. Her family seemed to only care about her when they needed to complain or needed her to do something, especially her mother. Tavra wanted someone who would see beyond her princess mask and see her for who she truly was. Sometimes, as she walked along the beach, she tried to imagine what such a Gelfling would look like. Would they be shorter than her? Taller? What color would their hair be? Their eyes? And would they be Vapra? Or some other clan? Her deep thoughts were interrupted by the strangest thing. Usually, all she heard at night was the waves and occasionally seabird calls, but tonight she heard a different sound, like singing. Tavra was coming up upon a rocky cliff that fed rocks into the ocean and realized the singing was coming from somewhere by the rocks. The singing was enchanting, ringing like a bell in the crisp summer sea air. She was drawn to it, almost against her will. She saw the most incredible thing as she reached where the cliff met the sea.
