It had been 4 years since that near-tragedy, 4 years since Ash was found barely alive in the library. Eiji couldn't believe that they were fine now living in Japan, there were many ups and downs ,(things were worse in the first few years), despite his love for the blonde, sometimes he realized that he didn't know what to do to help him understand that a new beginning was possible, but they were fine, they really were.
4 years and it never got easier. Ash had left for work, he was teaching elementary school kids, and Eiji was home alone, well, not just since Buddy was there too. It was the eldest's day off, he was supposed to be relaxing, but thousands of thoughts ran through his head. He decided to find something to distract himself and started to organize things in the house and to start making lunch. Without any expectations, he receives a message from the blonde.

Eiji fixed his hair and chose a warmer outfit, as it was very cold outside. After 15 minutes Ash arrives.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see when we get there" Eiji was a bit anxious and started looking down "Hey Birdie, how was your day?" Ash says now worried.
"Well, I just cleaned the house and took care of Buddy. How was your day?"
"The kids were going to go on an outing with the PE teachers so they let me go early. I was happy to be able to be with you today. I know how sad you are on this specific date."
"You are not sad?"
"Eiji, I consider today the start of the rest of my life"
"You almost died. I amolst lost you"
"I was reborn"
"Say whatever you want, I hate remembering today. Four years ago you almost left us, you almost left me"
The eldest was almost crying. Some things didn't get any easier.
"I would never forgive myself if I did that. The library did let me sleep more but I wouldn't trade this for nothing in the hole world. You're my evertything"
Eiji was quiet, he decided to only look over the trees and try to fall into the comfort of the silence.
Well, it was a awkard silence. After a while they arrived. They were standing in the restaurant that they kissed for the first second time.
"You're not mad at me, right?"
"I'm not, Ash." Eiji sighed "Sorry for being an asshole earlier, it's just- it's just today"
They talked and laughed. After eating and saying goodbye to the bad feelings, the couple decided to go to a park that it's been years since they been there. Ash and Eiji sat under a tree.
"Eiji" Ash said on a serious tone
"Yes, love?"
"Okay, hm, let's go" Ash stops before talking again "Eiji, we've been togheter for a whle now and I've never felt so alive. You made me realize that I just don't want to die for ypu, but I want to live for you, live with you.
Eiji just watched, listening everything carefully.
"Four years ago I almost died, but your love saved me. For much time I asked if I deserved you, if I could continue, but fuck all of this. Now I know what I want to do"
Ash takes a box out
"Eiji, you promised me forever and the least I can do is promise the same. Okumura Eiji, will you marry me?"
