I just want a boyfriend

Summary:

As the title says.

Work Text:

“I… just want a boyfriend,” Gen sighed, taking a long sip from his soy-caramel frappuccino. He and Ukyo sat at the Starbucks closest to his house for their monthly meetup, because frankly, they were too busy to meet more often than that.

Ukyo clapped his hands together loudly, and cried, “It’s about time bitch!”

Gen scrunched his nose at the few people who turned in their direction at the noise, but got over it quickly. “Alright, what are my options?”

“Alright so this one has a lot of money and he would treat you good, and you'd be set for life,” Ukyo pulled up a picture of Ryusui on his newest yacht, wearing his signature blinding smile and obnoxious hat. Gen threw the pic a glance, and huffed. Ukyo got the message.

“Uh, this one would be really really nice to you, AND he treats his mom well,” Tsukasa did look nice and not threatening with that soft grin of his, despite his massive build. Still though… Ukyo took a couple of seconds to type away on his Instagram to pull up the next picture. “This one is like totally obsessed with you in love with you-”

“Pass.”

“But-”

“Pass.” That was Gen’s ex. Did he never tell Ukyo about him? Oops.

“So these are all some really good ones…” The quest continued, with Gen pushing up against Ukyo to watch his every swipe on that small phone screen. There were some mutual acquaintances and familiar faces, but Ukyo was quick to scroll past them. A guy with distracting green hair popped up on the screen for a second, but he too was swiped away just as fast. “Actually this one this one doesn't want you at all so ignore that one and uh this–”

“Wait,” Gen actually grabbed onto his friend’s arm, the cocky smirk already fading from his memory. He needed a repeat of that. “Why doesn't that one want me?”

Ukyo clicked his tongue but pulled up the account anyway. “It doesn't matter. He would treat you like shit anyway, and he's five-seven so just ignore it.”

“But- but what's his name?” Gen snatched the phone out of Ukyo’s hands, to check the username. Taiju Ooki. Wait, this was not– ohhh, he must have appeared on a friend’s account or something. Did he not have his own? Ukyo looked wildly unimpressed.

“Are you serious? You have all these options…”

“Yeah I want that one!” Gen shot Ukyo a wide grin, and buried his face in the phone again to stare at the contours of this mysterious guy’s face. His eyebrows were nice, so were his red eyes. “The one who doesn't want me? That's–that's the one I want!”

Ukyo looked incredulously at his oddly smitten bestie, mumbling some curses in his disbelief, “Dumb, dumb as hell.”

“You never told me his name,” Gen frowned, finally handing Ukyo his phone back.

“I forgot. I just heard about him from Chrome.”

“Great! Help me set us up. Pleaaaase Ukyo-chan?”

“…I’ll see what I can do.”
