“This is one persistent migraine isn’t it?” Phlox asked as he looked you over.
“Forty hours and counting..” You mumbled, talking felt hard, like you could throw up everytime you opened your mouth.
Phlox chuckled sympathetically “Sometimes the human body is just determined to defy all modern medicine.” He gripped one of your hands “You haven’t eaten in a good while. I know you may not be thrilled about ingesting anything at the moment, however an empty stomach could worsen your discomfort.”
The thought of eating anything was not at all appealing “What foods are good for upset stomachs..?”
Phlox hummed “Well, saltine crackers, tea, bread, allegedly dark chocolate can help.”
“I could probably stomach crackers.”
“Shame, I was hoping you’d say chocolate so I’d have an excuse to get some.” He pouted.
You managed a small smile “Why do you need an excuse?”
“I don’t, it’s more fun to have one.” He helped you up “Why don’t you go to your quarters and I’ll meet you there.”
You nodded and left the denobulan, shuffling out of sickbay.
It wasn’t long before Phlox entered your room with tea and crackers and dark chocolate for himself.
You managed to get a few crackers and a couple sips of tea down before you had to curl back into a ball, waiting for the nausea to pass.
Phlox frowned and got into bed behind you, he started massaging your scalp. “Is this helping?”
You sighed heavily but didn’t move away. “Do all of your patients get this treatment?”
“No, you’re a rather special patient.” You could hear the smile in his words. You still felt sick however Phlox’s soft warmness against you was comforting. As well as his fingers in your hair, trying to ease any pain he could. At least for now things didn’t suck so much.
