Chapter Text
Yuichiro’s arms feel like twigs as his arms struggle to keep up with the speed his body wants him to move. Yuichiro doesn’t bother to clean up the sweat on his body, his left arm protests in varying shades of pain. Yuichiro’s sweat mixes with rain as he trains hard. His blade is long, an odachi, 115 centimeters from the cloud-shaped guard to the tip. The sword is heavy, and Yuichiro’s arms protest with each swing, both of his hands are on the hilt and he swings with his body weight. Yuichiro swears that he will train until this sword feels like nothing in his arms. Amane Ubuyashika leans on the balcony. She is worried for the teenager, he had only woken up about thirty days ago, she muses to herself. Yuichiro coughs and the steady flow of blood drips down his chin as he overexerts his body once again, The bandages on his left arm loosen, Amane closes her eyes and stands there under the roof, looking at Yuichiro. Yuichiro’s blade swings and it cuts through the training dummy, it’s a small victory for his body, he’s exhausted, struggling to breathe from the effort. He breathes in deeply and his bandaged fingers tighten around the hilt. After a few more swings, he wiped the blade with a clean cloth before using the leather sleeve to cover it, It was a hassle sheathing the long blade and Yuichiro didn’t need a kakushi rushing around to draw and sheath the sword with him. Amane wants to believe that Yuichiro has finally stopped for the day, but she can only hear the shallow breathing as Yuichiro prepares to run laps around the mansion. Amane watched with slight worry, Kanata and Kuina frowned. It was like watching another copy of Muichiro.
Yuichiro wakes up tired today, at the butterfly mansion. His blade is by his side, he gets up, cleaning up the futon and picking up any mess he could have possibly left behind. He slides the door open and enters the hallway. He scowls at the sound of the other demon slayer’s loudness, couldn’t they see that it was already loud enough? He never knew how Aoi, Sumi, Kiyo, Naho, and Shinobu dealt with the noise that plagued the mansion. He was here today and yesterday for a check-up on his arm, the scar was still ugly. His sleeves covered it anyway. Yuichiro’s outfit was nothing close to ’flashy’. His mentor was always trying to get him to look a bit more ’flamboyant’, which is why Yuichiro has earrings on his ear, silver ones, as well as decorated gloves on his hands. Aside from the black uniform he wears, nothing is worth mentioning. Yuichiro walks past the maze of doors, turning to the cafeteria part of the mansion, he picks up a few onigiri filled with salmon and wraps them up, keeping the seaweed apart from the rest, he pockets the bundle and goes to say his goodbyes to the butterfly girls. He walks to find them and finds Sumi, Naho, Kiyo, Kanao, and Aoi in rehabilitation training with a group of slayers. Yuichiro scowls at the group of demon slayers complaining. Yuichiro makes sure to spew his insults loudly as he speaks to Aoi, “I think this batch needs a few more years of bedrest.”
Aoi looks at him with her hands on her hips, “Hey Yui.”
Yuichiro asks, “Need a hand?”
Yuichiro feels a lot calmer around the butterfly girls, even if they were wasting their time training what seemed to be not-so-promising slayers. Aoi shook her head, “You should get back to Sound Hashira’s estate before you arrive late.”
Yuichiro nods and with a quick wave and a dirty look at the slayers he leaves. “Bye!”
The moment Yuichiro leaves the grounds, he yawns slightly, then he leans back and breaks into a steady run, leaving the dust flying in the air. His stamina is quite good, he hardly heaves as his legs push against the ground, arms lifelessly slightly behind him. Yuichiro isn’t exactly excited to be back in the company of the loud Sound Hashira and his three wives, which Yuichiro personally thought was a few too many. Yuichiro gets there in a few hours, which wasn’t too tiring for the demon slayer. He slides the door open and calls out to the Sound Hashira, “Hey old man?”
Tengen slides one of the doors open, he’s annoyed because Yuichiro called him an old man when he was only twenty-three. Tengen starts speaking, “Listen here you little shit, I’m not old.”
Yuichiro rolls his eyes, “Whatever old man.”
Yuichiro goes outside and sits there, waiting for his mentor to get outside. Tengen eventually comes outside, ready to make the teen suffer the worst training, “The muscle mice have your orders, I’m going on a mission to check out that small island to the south.”
Yuichiro groans but he leans down to listen to what the mice have to say, there’s a little sheet of paper with the words, ‘ one hundred laps, nonstop around the estate. you’re allowed one rice ball and one small bottle of water, you bastard!’
Yuichiro groans, he goes into the house to put on some knee-length shorts. He steps back outside and proceeds to run his laps, not without cursing Uzui though. After Yuichiro finishes his one hundred laps, it’s dark outside and Yuichiro has lost a whole bunch of daylight, meaning he’s going to be sent on missions soon. He eats his last meal of the day with Uzui’s wives, Hinatsuru is the one who cooks, and her food is good, he’s silent as he eats the cold soba noodles, it’s a hot night and Yuichiro is not excited to work missions in this heat. He yawns and stands up, he feels a little awkward as he turns around. Yuichiro mumbles, “Bye Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru.”
Suma lets out a little, “ Aw! Yui! ”
Makio mumbles, “Goodbye, come back alive, okay?”
Hinatsuru ruffles his hair with a smile, “Alright, come back when you’re finished!.”
Yuichiro complains about his hair but he leaves, closing the door. Yuichiro probably had the smallest smile in mankind, but he smiled before he went on his missions.
