The History Of Us

Summary:

A small collection of fics for the rest of the members of hwajjong’s pack and how they all got together.

Chapter Text

Yunho and San were a package deal. Which was strange because, well, they weren't together. It came as a surprise to more people than San liked to admit. Who cares that they’re opposite subgenders? All Alpha’s were stinky, loud and annoying anyway (except Yunho and Seonghwa but they knew that already).

San had never been attracted to alphas in that way and it was so frustrating to explain. They were just… too much for him. They had too much energy at times, he’d seen it in Yunho a lot as they grew up. The alpha played two sports in highschool every year and it barely seemed to slow him down. They were assertive when they felt like it and as an omega he learned very quickly why his father made him learn Taekwondo.

Plus watching Yunho become so unnerving in pre-rut scared San even though he knew Yunho of all people wouldn’t do anything. They had talked about dating before, after they both had presented, and both agreed that would be way too weird. It only came up because both their parents were extremely traditional and once Yunho had presented as an alpha they immediately started mentioning mating to the both of them any moment they could.

Which led to the awkwardest conversation of his life at the time. It happened after school one day while they both were hanging out in San’s room reading manga, San on his bed and Yunho on a big bean bag chair. San had heard Yunho shuffling a few times before the alpha finally spoke up.

“Hey San… Do you like me?” The older had asked, causing San to put down his manga with his eyebrows raised.

“Of course I like you Yunho we’re best friends,” He responded, moving to start reading again until he heard Yunho sit up and felt his stare.

“No I meant like… do you want to date?” That made San choke on his spit, making him actually start to choke. Yunho immediately reacted, running over and pulling San into a seated position and hitting his back until the younger could breathe.

“What the fuck Yunho?!”

“What do you mean ‘what the fuck’? I just saved your life!”

“That's not what I meant dumbass! Why would I like you? You’re an alpha!” San regretted the last sentence the second it left his mouth. He watched as Yunho grimaced at his words and took a couple steps back, San reached out but stopped when Yunho looked away. “Yun… I didn’t mean it like that.”

Yunho hummed, a hollow sound, and grabbed his forgotten manga on the floor moving to sit back down and curled in on himself. San sighed, mentally piecing his words together in a more careful way before clearing his throat to try and get Yunho to look at him again.

“I meant like, you're my best friend and I love you with my whole heart but only as a best friend. I’m sorry to reject you like this. I just don't like any alpha in that way-” His speech was cut off by Yunho screeching in embarrassment.

“Okay no! I don’t have feelings for you either! God this is not how I thought this would go,” He whined, slumping and sliding down the beanbag and onto the floor. Only to pop his head back up with wide eyes after he registered the second half of Sans words, now it was the omega’s turn to flinch. “Okay wait, you don’t have a crush on Hansol? You don’t like alphas?”

San scrunched up his nose in disgust at Yunho's words, making the older snort.

“Absolutely not! Hansol is the perfect example of why I don’t like alphas! He so fucking annoying!” San raged, picturing the smug alpha in their shared class, mentally gagging. “Honestly though, alphas were never my type, their too much for me. Again I love you and when I said that it wasn’t about you just… the way they've treated me and other omegas, hell even other alphas like its gross. All they want to do is fight or fuck and their scents are so overpowering all the time it gives me headaches.”

Yunho hummed in thought at San’s words, the room falling into silence for a minute or so until the alpha clapped his hands together with an evil grin.

“So…. Do you like Minjoon?” San’s face lit up like a firetruck and you could hear Yunho’s cackle throughout the whole house.

San's first crush was in fact Minjoon, a pretty omega in his English class. It didn’t last very long as soon as he found out said omega had a boyfriend. After that, he stayed crushless until college.

Until this exact moment when he walked into his first class of the day and saw the prettiest person to ever exist sitting in the second row of the lecture hall. Now, what San did next he was not proud of. He sat in the third row, one seat over so he could get the perfect view of the omega (he smelled his rose scent as he sat down) during class.

Although his plan backfired mid-lecture when the omega leaned back in his seat and proceeded to look straight into San’s soul - also catching him in the act of staring. The omega just ducked his head in a bow as San dropped his pencil in shock. Holy fuck he so cute, he’s so cute!

San couldn’t focus the entire lecture, even messing up his self introduction when he caught the omega looking at him again (the whole class was staring but San elected to ignore that fact). But thankfully his little brain soaked in the pretty omegas introduction. Yeosang, Kang Yeosang who’s majoring in mechanical engineering (oh he's hot and smart).

After the lecture ended. San was gathering his things when he accidentally knocked the pen he had dropped earlier because of the omega-Yeosang- onto the floor of the second row. He watched as someone grabbed it and reached their hand out toward him.

“Thank yo- holy shit.” San short circuited because the hand belonged to Kang Yeosang, the omega who stole all his attention.

Yeosang blinked, San internally screamed.

“I-I meant thank you, uh, yeah.” San stuttered out, finally moving to grab the pen. Yeosang smiled and San’s legs buckled under the table. He blushed as he fell back into his seat causing Yeosang to raise his eyebrows in concern.

“Are you okay?” Oh god San forgot how deep and sexy his voice was.

“Y-Yeah I’m fine! Uh, thanks… again,” San laughed, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment as he stood back up again, pen still tightly gripped in his hand.

“You sure you’re okay? You look like you're about to pass out.” Yeosang voiced his concern, a small pout forming as he leaned closer into Sans space looking to make sure he was stable. San could barely breathe.

“Yup! Just uh, having a panic moment is all.” San responded, stuffing the pen into his bag and throwing it over his shoulder before smiling down at the other omega. “Thanks for grabbing my pen and uh, you’re really pretty.” His eyes widened as he slapped a hand over his mouth, the last part wasn’t supposed to come out.

Yeosang blushed, looking away and coughing in surprise.

“Sorry!” San apologized from behind his hand. “Sorry, I wasn’t supposed to say that outloud uh, have a good day!” He bowed slightly before speed walking out of the classroom and hitting his forehead with his palm.

“Hey! Hey you forgot your notebook!” A hand touched his shoulder and he jumped slightly before turning to look upon the man of his dreams for the hundredth time in the last hour. Yeosang gave a shy smile as he brought the notebook up into San’s view.

As San reached for it, Yeosang moved his hand backwards slightly before awkwardly clearing his throat.

“Do you, uhm, do you want to study with me later? I kinda forgot what Mr. Min assigned to us already.” San didn’t even let Yeosangs words process before he was vigorously nodding. Anything for you , his brain supplied.

“Totally, I’m free now actually.” No he wasn’t. He had a math lecture in twenty minutes. But who cares it was all introductions and syllabus bullshit anyway, he’d just ask Yunho what he needed to do before their next class.

Yeosang visibly brightened, actually letting San take back his notebook before he motioned his head towards the doors leading to the courtyard.

“Do you mind studying outside?” The taller omega asked, San shook his head.

When they reached a bench to sit, that's when it hit him, the entire time he was looking at Yeosang, not one part of him soaked in any information about their class or their assignment.

“If I’m being honest, I don't remember anything either… But we can look through the emails and try and guess..?” San mumbled, scratching the back of his head again making Yeosang let out a small smile.

“That’s fine. Your name is San right? I’m Yeosang, and I think you’re pretty too.” Yup, San was a goner. There was no saving him now.

And that’s how San was for most of their semester class, following Yeosang around, helping with assignments and just enjoying the other omega’s presence. He learned that Yeosang was pretty shy and reserved but blunt with his words.

He was becoming a mechanical engineer because he loved drones and wanted to make his own one day. He had a childhood best friend named Wooyoung who San met by watching the beta run up behind Yeosang and bite his shoulder making the omega screech in protest.

Wooyoung was outspoken and bold, the complete opposite to Yeosang but San thought it was adorable. The only drawback was that the moment he realized San’s raging crush on his best friend, he wouldn’t stop pestering him about it anytime he could. Which was a lot because San always followed Yeosang when his schedule allowed and so did Wooyoung.

Which is how San ended up confessing to Yeosang in the first place, and looking back San could kiss Wooyoung because of it. San was always too scared to voice his feelings even after how he and Yeosang even started talking in the first place.

Yeosang was just so perfect, so pretty, nice, smart, and always gave his entire attention to San when he spoke. The way he hid behind his hand when he laughed and looked down when he was being shy. San spent every waking moment thinking about Yeosang and it seemed to be driving both Yunho and Wooyoung up the wall. Wooyoung actually acted on it of course because well, he’s Wooyoung.

“Oh for fucks sake San just ask him out already!” Wooyoung hissed one day while they were studying in the library. Yeosang had gone to search for a book for his history essay and Wooyoung had sprung on him the moment the omega was out of sight.

“No! I can’t handle rejection Woo, and he’s the only person I talk to in our class. If I mess this up, who am I supposed to talk to? Professor Min is damn confusing. I need Sangies math skills,” San pouted, fiddling with his textbook. Wooyoung smacked his hands making the omega yelp quietly and glare at the beta.

“If you don't do it I will. I’m tired of watching this pining every time you’re around him! You do it tonight or I’m outing you. Don’t test me Choi San.” Wooyoung threatened, pointing at him as San stuck out his tongue in retaliation.

The rest of their study group San was piecing together his confession. He was nervous, sure, but the fear of Wooyoung confession for him was even scarier. God knows what the beta would have said to Yeosang on their way home (they lived together off campus, lucky bastards).

So once they left the library, Wooyoung motioned his head towards Yeosang and pushed San to walk next to the other omega instead of him. Yeosang raised his eyebrows at the change in formation, usually San walked just behind Yeosang and Wooyoung, arms on both their backpacks as they all talked while walking towards San’s dorms.

San shrugged with a smile, too nervous to speak at the moment. Wooyoung scoffed, obviously catching the moment, but he didn’t say anything either. They walked in silence for a minute before Wooyoung let out a dramatic gasp and stopped walking, making San and Yeosang turn and stop too.

The beta slapped his forehead and sighed. “I left my phone on the table! You guys wait here, I'll be right back.” He didn’t even let the duo say anything before he turned and started jogging back towards the library. San internally rolled his eyes at the betas excuse to leave them alone, but just shrugged and smiled at Yeosang, pointing to a bench a few yards away.

Once they were seated, they fell into a silence again until San felt Yeosang poke his arm. Looking up from where he had zoned out staring at the sidewalk, his eyes landed on a curious Yeosang.

“You okay?” He whispered, San’s heart squeezed at the cuteness. He nodded, letting out a shaky sigh and his nerves settled, humming just under his skin.

“Yeah,” he breathed out, hiding his shaky hands as he tried to smile at Yeosang, but it didn’t seem to look right judging from the look Yeosang gave him. “Just… there’s something I have to tell you.”

Yeosang blinked expectantly at him, Yeo-speech for ‘go on’.

“Just uh, it's just that I’ve liked you since I saw you in class on our first day, and Wooyoung said if I didn’t confess he would do it for me and that's actually terrifying… So I just had to tell you because you’re literally so perfect in my eyes and I hope this doesnt ruin anything, like if you don’t like me back it's fine! I mean it's not I have a raging crush on you but I don’t want to lose you as a friend cause you're really cool and smart and you’re also the only person who makes math make sense to me and-” San was cut off by Yeosangs laugh, and his heart sank.

Oh god, that was not a good confession at all, maybe Wooyoung should have done it actually.

He didn’t have time to apologize, because Yeosang placed a hand on his knee and San short-circuited again.

“I like you too.” Yeosang said with a grin, one not hidden behind his hand and San just blinked at him for a few moments while he processed.

“I think you broke him, Sangie.” Wooyoung’s voice broke them out of their bubble, making San stiffen.

“That’s fine I’ll fix him,” Yeosang responded and before San could ask what that meant, Yeosang kissed him on the cheek. San felt like he was on fire, but in the best possible way. Had he ascended? Was this heaven?

“Yeosang! That is the opposite of fixing! Look, he's a tomato now!”
