Chan was a fearsome alpha – he could tear apart an opponent with his bare hands, was wary of strangers, was strict but fair with members of his pack, and seemed intimidating and unsociable due to his serious attitude and life style in general. He was not just any alpha, but the leader of the pack, so it was important for him to be respected, not loved, so he was always courteous and polite, but strict with his wolves. Everything was different when he was alone with his omega: he was always relaxed in his presence and just turned into the most gentle and loving man in the world.
Felix was crazy in love with his mate and waited for him patiently every day with open arms, showering him with kisses and covering him with the sweet scent of vanilla, when the man got home. He loved the tender care the elder had for him and always bathed in it with a pleasure, knowing that no one, even the closest friends of their family didn't know this side of his beloved wolf.
Chris always was affectionate and touchy with Lix, even liked to hold him on his lap during breakfast so as not to miss a minute before he had to leave for work for almost the whole day. However, since he found out that his omega was expecting a baby, alpha literally can't leave his side for a minute: followed him everywhere like a puppy and constantly tried to touch him. Felix thought that this is the result of the first week of his pregnancy (the elder instanly knew what's happening cause his mate's scent changed a bit and it got coffee notes in it that didn't belong to anyone in their pack), but the second week came and went, followed by a month and then a second one, and Chan was trying his best to return home eatlier and earlier to be there for his pregnant omega, until one day he dragged all of the important documents to work at the home office. Lix didn't mind seeing his lover and father of his pup more often than before, but he didn't like that someone always was hanging around near their house to get advice from the pack leader or just ask a question. And Chris excessive care and supervision has become annoying and tiresome when the omega got near third month of his pregnancy.
Felix went to the living room, sitting on the sofa and rubbing his eyes with his small hands. He'd woken up just a few minutes ago and only had time to wash his face and brush his teeth before he pulled on his favorite sweatshirt (that he stole from his alpha) and sat down in front of the TV. Omega promised himself that he would close his eyes for a second, and then he will get up and cook breakfast for him and his mate, but he couldn’t - the sofa was too soft and inviting to not fall asleep on it. Next time he opened his eyes because the elder was frankly shaking him with fear in his brown irises.
- Sunshine, sunshine, are you okay? – Lix met the worried gaze and nodded, yawning.
– Yes, I just fell asleep.
– I thought something bad had happened. I left the office to greet you and saw you lying here like that, – Chan squished his lover's small face in his palms. – I thought about the worst.
– Baby, you can't worry so much every time. Otherwise by the end of my pregnancy you will be in a hospital with a heart attack. And you better not, cause I don’t want to raise our pup alone.
– I’m just worried that something can happen to you while I'm not here for you, – Chris whispered, gently stroking his mate's cheeks with his fingers.
– My love, you literally moved your office here, how close to me do you want to be? – Felix smiled, Lix smiled, running his fingers through the elder’s hair and lightly massaging his scalp. Alpha relaxed, closing his eyes and slowly calming down.
- You're right. It's just that my dad lost his first pup, and I can't help, but worry about ours.
- My love, you know that I'm at home safe and sound with you here. Nothing's gonna happen to me, you will react to any shift in my scent and would know if something is wrong.
- Yes, yes, I know that.
Omega felt Chan's hand at his for now flat belly and smiled, pulling the elder closer. Alpha didn't even do this thing consciously - he just needed to make sure his mate and their future baby is here.
– Do you want us to do the sonogram tomorrow? It will probably help to ease your worries, – Lix asked, playing with curly hair on the top of the alpha's head. – We need to do it soon anyway.
– Yes, I really do, – Chris muttered with a pleading look in his eyes that the omega simply couldn't refuse.
The next day alpha scared away half of the doctors and nurses of the pack's hospital with his pheromones that were bursting with discontent and anger at the staff. In his opinion they were too slow serving his beloved prince, who deserves only the best. In the ultrasound room the younger had to grab his mate's hand and squeeze it tightly to get his attention.
– Chris, if you don't calm down right now, I'll kick you out of here. I'm sick of your anger. Literally sick.
The elder shook his head, gently squeezing the small palm in his hand.
– I'm sorry, sunshine, it just seems that they're not in a hurry, – Chan gritted through his teeth, looking at the doctor, who was sitting behind the screen and holding an examination device in his hands. The beta was hesitant to approach the pair because of the alpha's menacing aura and his suffocating smell of discontent.
– Chris, I'm sure, that the doctor is doing everything he can. Please, calm down before I really kick you out of this room, – Felix was getting angry himself, and the alpha decided that he shouldn’t irritate the pregnant omega (otherwise the leader would probably spend the night outside of his own house), so he silently nodded and stepped aside a little to allow the doctor to adjust the equipment.
Beta looked at his patient with gratitude, smiling softly at him before spreading the gel on the omega's belly and placing the examination device on his stomach. The room was suddenly filled with the sound of a beating heart, and Chris glanced at the screen, seeing the small outlines of his and Lix's baby against a black background.
– Is this our pup? – Alpha asked mesmerized, not taking his eyes off the screen and squeezing his lover’s small fingers in his own. His pheromones instantly changed to happy ones, allowing the doctor to breathe freely and the omega to finally relax, listening to the sound of their baby's heartbeat.
– Yes, this is your pup, it's developing well and looking perfectly healthy, – beta said, pressing some buttons on the keyboard to zoom the picture and turning the computer to the happy omega, so he can see his baby too. – I'll write down some recommendations to maintain yours and baby's health and to reduce nausea, please follow them. Although, I think that your alpha will make sure that you do follow them.
– Yes, of course, – the leader answered, looking at the screen in fascination. - I will.
Felix rolled his eyes at Chan's words. As if constant supervision wasn't enough for him.
– You can have sex, but try not to be too extreme, we don't want to harm your mate or your child.
Lix flushed, pretending with all his might that he didn't notice the doctor's gaze. The whole pack was well aware every time the leader's rut started, because the cries of pleasure of the pack omega could be heard even outside of their house. Chris was teased for this by his close friends, and the younger one was teased by his own friends, while their family doctor tried to leave the Bang's family house as quickly as possible after examining the prince of the pack, because every time Felix's condition, alpha's anxiety and the strong scent of mixed pheromones and sex threw him off balance and literally suffocated him.
– Of cause, doc, I'll try, – Chan answered with a nod, while wiping his lover’s stomach with the napkin the beta handed him. – When should we come for the ultrasound the next time?
– I would advise you to come here every month so we can check the pup’s development and your omega's health.
– Okay, – the leader helped his mate get up and adjusted his clothes for him, causing the younger to roll his eyes, sighing heavily.
Beta smiled, looking at the couple. Their relationship dynamics were so admirable: Chris, relaxed and ready to walk on eggshells around his omega, and Lix, controlling his alpha with words and gazes, stood out so much from the image that pack usually saw them in – a serious and irreconcilable leader and a gentle and merciful prince – but nevertheless they were in crazy harmony with each other, which was amazing. They gonna be great parents to their pup.
After saying goodbyes to the doctor the pair left the hospital, taking the envelope with a sonogram of their little pup, growing under omega's heart.
– Are you hungry? Do you want to eat? – Chan asked, taking Lix's hand in his and heading down the road to their house. – Or drink? Do you want me to carry you? Or I can make a call and someone would fetch us a car.
– Chris, I want you to calm down, please, – Felix sighed, stopping and looking into the brown eyes he loves so much. – If I would need something, I’ll ask you, okay? – He said softly, gently taking the elder’s face into his hands. – Stop fussing around me like that, I’m not a fragile flower that will break. It's just that sometimes I'm nauseous and irritated by certain scents, but otherwise everything is the same as before.
– But our pup is growing inside you, – alpha whispered, hugging the omega with one hand around the waist and placing the other one on his belly.
– Yes, and I worry about him, just like you, so I’m very careful, even if my pregnancy just started. Please, baby, I beg you, treat me the same as before.
– I just care about you, – Chan pouted, looking at his lover with an expression of a kicked puppy .
– And we appreciate it, we really do, but don’t be so extra, please, – Felix pressed his forehead against Chan's. – There is no need to panic if I go outside to get some fresh air or carry boxes. These were cereal, for god's sake, they were not heavy.
– I can’t, it’s an instinct, I feel the need to care and protect.
Lix sighed heavily, pulling away.
– Then you will have to raise our pup alone, because I'm gonna go crazy. Chris, you're suffocating me with pheromones, they're making me dizzy. I love you so freacking much, but I’m going to lose my mind soon. You don't let me cook something complex for us, don't let me go on a walk, clean, what should I do? All I ever do is sleep, eat and have sex with you, I feel worthless, – tears welled up in the omega’s eyes. The hormones made themselves known, changing Felix’s mood instatly. – It’s better to put me to the hospital right now to protect me from everything.
– Sunshine, no, don’t cry, please, don’t cry, – Chan said tenderly, reaching out to take Lix's hands, but he pulled away, not allowing Chris to touch him, and the elder froze with his hands in the air. – Lixie...
– I want to go home, – omega didn't wait for an answer and headed forward along the road, forcing the alpha to follow him with a heavy heart.
Chris didn’t even thought that his actions would upset Lix so much, but he realized that he hadn't taken into consideration the caring nature of the omega, who always runned their household and surrounded his alpha with love, sweet gestures, gentle touches and delicious food.
Felix got home first and immediately locked himself in the bedroom, leaving helpless and restless Chan on the other side of the door. Alpha felt guilty for taking away what his mate loved doing from him in a selfish desire to not worry about the health of his beloved and their baby anymore than needed. Lix was right - he was too extra in everything he was doing trying to help even now, in the early stages of this lover's pregnancy, and he can see the younger going crazy by the end of it because of him.
– Sunshine, I’m sorry, I wanted to make your life easier and didn’t even give it a thought that I was taking everything you love away from you, – Chris said, pressing his forehead against the closed door. - Do you want me to move out and live at work so I won't bother you anymore?
There was no answer, and the alpha was ready to accept it as a consent to leave, when the bedroom door opened, revealing Lix, who was silently crying.
– Please don't leave me, – he sobbed, looking at his mate. – I'm sorry, I'm stupid, you just care for us a lot, and I'm acting like an idiot.
– No, no, baby, you're right, I shouldn't have control you as I do with my subordinates. I'm sorry, sunshine, I'm an egoist and a dictator.
Omega sniffled, hugging alpha's neck and nuzzling him, and the leader immediately grabbed him around the waist, trying to calm him with his pheromones.
– Stupid hormones. I didn't want us to argue, I promise, – Felix said, wiping his tears with his palm.
– Everything is okay, my little one, I understand. I was really overbearing, I'm sorry, – Chan pressed his mate closer, inhaling his scent and finally calming down himself. – You can do whatever you want, I won't freak out, I promise.
– I would let you know, if I want to leave the house, – omega muttered. – And you can take care of us, I won't be mad, I promise.
– I’ll think of something that will be okay for both of us, sunshine. Do you want to order pizza and watch your favorite movie? – alpha asked, pulling away a little, watching as his beloved nodded happily, smiling brightly.
- I'll get everything ready! - Lix said, sound pleased, before smooching Chris on the lips and running off to the kitchen to call their favorite cafe.
Chan changed his clothes and left his favorite hoodie on their bed for Felix to wear later. When the younger was done, he came into the living room a few minutes later, looking incredibly small and cute in a big black sweatshirt that swallowed him up.
– Come here, sunshine, – alpha called, and Felix immediately came closer to lay down on the couch near him, hugging his waist and comfortably settling his head on his mate's chest. – Would you like to take a nap while we wait?
– No, I just want to be with you.
- May I touch you? - Chris asked hesitantly, and Lix lifted his head, looking at him tenderly.
- Of course you may. You don't have to ask, my love.
Alpha immediately pull omega closer, hugging him with one hand, pushing the other one under his hoodie to put it to the younger stomach.
- Soon your tummy will start to grow, and I can't wait for everyone to know that you're carrying our pup.
– You didn't tell anyone yet?
– I told our friends only, but some of them guessed by your scent as I did. I warned them to be quiet. I want to announce it myself.
– Big bad alpha, – Felix giggled, covering Chan's hand with his own. – Our baby is lucky that he has such a serious father.
– He is even more lucky that he has such a smart and caring dad, – alpha said with love in his voice, leaning to gently kiss his mate.
– I love you, Chris, – Lix said, when the kiss was over.
– And I love you, my prince, – whispered the leader.
They no longer needed to fight - the leader, as promised, solved the problem in a way that suited both of them - cameras and baby monitors were installed throughout the house so that Chan could easily see where Felix was from his office and wouldn't have to worry about his health, and Lix liked everything as it was - sometimes he picks up one of the walkie-talkies and calls for his alpha, starting to undress right in front of the camera and forcing the elder to drop everything in order to get to him as soon as possible.
Harmony in their relationship has always won over everything else.
