Work Text:
“Oh my clematis, hope bloomed from the abyss.”
Ivans god, his universe, Till.
“Oh my clematis, never leave my side”
He loved Till. He loved him more than anything. He loved his stupid smile, the way his eyes lit up whenever something good happened. He loved Tills music, his head banging even if the other kids found it weird. He loved Tills silver hair, and teal eyes. He loved how he felt when he hugged Till. How safe he felt around the loud mouthed boy, despite his outwardly hostile persona.
“You bloomed from the huge black wall”
Maybe that was why, standing on this stage he felt safe in a paradoxical sort of way. Even though the stage was bound to be covered in many more human blood to come- he felt safe. With Till, singing a duet of all things.
“The galactic starlight in your eyes spreads out to the endless darkness. I find your scent”
The song they picked was softer and out of line with both of their usual styles. “My Clematis” it was called. The decision was made on a warm day in the rolling fields of Anakt Garden. Ivan was surprised at the time by Tills unwillingness to let him die, even when Ivan had offered to throw so Till could win a move on.
“Even if I sleep in infinity, don’t leave my universe.”
Till seemed mortified by the idea and declared that Ivan would have to go down with a fight. It wouldn’t be fair to Till. But Ivan didn’t like the idea of fighting Till at all- in the event that somehow Ivan would rank on top he wouldn’t know what to do. So they came to a compromise. They would try to cheat the system, die together or live together. A duet. Logically it would work if you couldn’t just a single singers skill from a duet like you couldn’t judge a single person's work on a group project.
“Oh my clematis, hope bloomed from the abyss.”
Maybe if it didn’t work and Ivan died, he could hardly complain. He was staring at the most beautiful man in the world, singing his heart out along side him. It was all some sort of sweet dream.
“Oh my clematis, always be by my side”
But it would work. It had to. It must.

“Do you beleive in god?”
He asked the question suddenly, it was a spur of the moment decision. Something he had been thinking of and only now resurfaced.
“No stop talking!”
Ivan pointedly ignored Till and continued, as if he hadn’t heard him.
“Once upon a time mankind believed in god and had religion.”
Till sighed. But Ivan knew he was still listening. Till may seem like he didn’t care, but Ivan knew he cares. He cares so much.
“They believed that things that cannot be solved by human strength are the will of god. Believed that the entire universe revolved around the earth.”
Ivan reached a hand out to the sky as if attempting to grab the sun itself, however fruitless the attempt may be. The sun was the brightest star, the most powerful and full of passion. Till was the sun.
“Thought that the place connected to the sky, which that they could not dare to reach, was the place were gods lived.”
Till scoffed.
“That’s just ridiculous”
Ivan lowered his arm slowly.
“From the moment humanity left the universe, we all forgot god… but if belief in god is human”
Ivan turned to stare at Till. The silver haired mans pale skin was glowing against the suns rays. His hair likewise was highlighted which made it appear almost pure white.
“If all I can do as a human is to believe,”
A pare of pitch black eyes with a singular red pupil met a pair of bright teal eyes that glistened in the sunlight.
“Why are you staring at me like that ? ”
Tills words conveyed his confusion and surprise by his friends sudden monologue, but Ivan only continued on.
“My god,”
Ivans hands reached out to cup Tills now reddening face.
“Hey hey wait!”
A smile reached Ivans face, he took one last look at his loves beautiful eyes then he pulled Till in for a hug. His voice now low and barely above a whisper at this point.
“My universe.”
The hug at first was awkward but Ivan settled into it quickly. Resting his head on TIlls shoulder and taking in the familiar scent. Yes, he was safe.
“Ahh go away!!”
Till struggled momentarily before he quickly gave in to the hug. Ivan smiled to himself, enjoying Tills' close company. He enjoyed every sense he could take in- Tills touch, Tills scent, Tills silver hair, Tills steady heartbeat.
(He just wanted the moment to last forever.)

If Ivan could describe Till in this moment, he would describe him as divine. He had a smile that rivaled the sun, his hair was shining in the light of the stage, and his eyes- they were just beautiful.
“Oh my clematis-”
His voice was tender, unlike that he had heard before. If someone where to ask Ivan what an angel sounded like, he would say it sounded like Till. His voice drowned out the sound of the points tallying behind them.
“Hope withered withered in the abyss”
But Tills voice couldn’t drown out the gunshot. It couldn’t stop the blood splattering on Ivans face. It couldn’t stop Ivan from falling down onto his knees to catch Tills lifeless body as it fell.
“Oh my clematis, always be by my side”
The lyric came out as more than a simple line but a plea. His clematis- his god- his universe- his Till- couldn’t leave him. He couldn’t. No.
No.
Ivan could only stare, the stadium was filled with the Aliens cheers so much so it was almost deafening and yet Ivan felt like his world had never been more silent. Without Tills smile, without Tills laugh, Without Tills singing. The world had never been so silent before.
“My clematis”
Ivans voice was drenched with sorrow. Sorrow that was red and black. He continue to just stare. Even when the guards locked a collar on his kneck and dragged him to his pod, he could still see Till lying on the ground. Blood spilling from his head.
Dead.
And Ivan could only cry.
