Miko loved Ei, she knew that much. She wasn't as sure about if Ei loved her back, or at least those were her thoughts back before she saw the sky of the Plane of Euthymia light up.
Even after all that time Ei was still the same as she was before she left. Well… there was something different… Miko wasn't as naive and Ei was completely lost with all the changes that happened.
She had her weekly meeting with Lumine away from her usual companion. Although the traveler had come out to Paimon, they were still adapting to their new situation.
So Miko was waiting like usual at her room's entrance, staring at the moon with her tails swaying slowly behind her "I don't get why you don't show them outside" Lumine questioned.
Miko giggled guiding Lumine inside with one of her tails "It's only for close friends to see"
Lumine smirked at her "Are we close friends now?"
Miko slapped her back with her tail "Be careful little one. You could end up shocked" Her eyes sparkled with Electro.
Lumine rolled her eyes "Whatever you say. So what is the plan?"
Miko closed the door behind her "Some booze and a draft we are about to publish" It was a short story commissioned by Ei after her recommendations. She didn't even know what it was about.
Lumine stretched her hand her way "Give me"
Miko rolled her eyes "Ever the patient, aren't you?" She grabbed the draft from the table beside the door and slapped Lumine's nose with it.
Lumine grabbed the draft and chuckled "Are you trying to flirt with me or what?"
Miko sat abruptly and pulled the bottle "Read it, masochist" She heard Lumine sit and open the envelope and then silence. She turned to the smaller girl, she usually had some snarky comment just with the summary. But she was frowning "What's wrong?"
"Did you commission this one? I see it's the same author from that extra story of the festival last year" Lumine's voice felt painful to hear.
Miko frowned "I didn't, Ei did. Why?" She crawled to her friend's side and read the tittle "My friends can't be flirting with me, right?" She squinted her eyes "I don't see the pro-" She started reading the summary to herself and understood what was wrong.
Lumine's shoulders shivered and she started to laugh loudly "I love her! She's so…"
Miko's laughter was more contained "I know"
The summary of the story went as follows " A warrioress meets an adventurer after years of shying away from the world. Thanks to her old miko friend, and the adventurer, the warrioress might understand the meaning of love, eventually "
Miko drank "I'll have to talk to that writer of mine. I did tell Ei to use her thoughts for a commission but I didn't expect it to turn out like this" She chuckled and offered a cup to her friend.
Lumine gracefully accepted and drank too "Did I tell you that time that Paimon explained one of your harem light novels to Ei?" She giggled "She's so cute"
"That she is" Miko sighed and started reading the draft to herself "Did you ever think what will happen if Ei ever confesses?"
Lumine nodded "If she asks me out, I'll come tease you and tell you how damn cute she is"
"And if she asks me?" Miko teased, brushing her friend's back with one of her tails.
Lumine chuckled weakly and stared down at her cup "I'll come to congratulate you and hear all about your cute dates and troubles"
Miko slowly dropped her cup on the table and leaned on Lumine's shoulder "I hope you do because I'm not going to shut up about it"
"How is the draft looking?"
As usual that girl had a great way of leaving subtle undertones. She thought her writer should get laid soon "Exactly as I expected from this girl, I'll have to ask her to tone it down a bit. She was an erotica writer before I found her" Miko explained.
Lumine poured some more booze in her cup "You haven't explained that one"
Miko chuckled "Well… We do a writing contest every once in a while. This girl was fifteen I believe and her story arrived to my hands" She thanked Lumine with a nod for filling her drink "It wasn't the first time someone sent smut to the contest but it usually is very crude and unimaginative. But this damn girl ended up making me of all people cry" She drank.
"It wasn't because it was bad I'm guessing" Lumine guessed with her cheeks flushing as the drink got to her.
"Far from it. The sex scenes were good don't get me wrong, but the way I can still remember the characters and their little quirks is surprising" She sighed "I couldn't give her the prize but she's my most trusted writer to this day"
"I mean she is working under you. I believe that is prize enough, unless you end up as a miko that is" Lumine stated with that little jab on what happened with little Shinobu.
"You say that, but I'm sure you enjoyed your pay very much" Miko teased.
Lumine looked away and dropped said payment on the table "Drop the act, kitsune guuji. We are all alone" A moment later after her words she dropped her head on the table "Aren't you tired of that mask?"
Miko sighed "Are you?"
Lumine nodded with her head laying down "Masks are tiring. At least I don't have to with Paimon and you"
Miko brushed away a hair from her friend's face "What is the little one doing anyway?"
Lumine stared back at her "Well… I left her with Tubby and… Nahida"
Miko laughed "You left her with an Archon. You could have left her with the old man or that bard since you were at it"
Lumine chuckled "It's for Nahida too. She's been through a lot" She bit her lip "Sorry. This is about our love troubles not" She sighed deeply "Traveler related problems"
Miko rubbed her back "It's fine. You've heard me complain about my work too" It was how it worked for them too.
"Do you remember who you gave the gnosis to?" Lumine asked.
It felt like a really weird question to ask. Both of them were there "The doctor, why?"
Lumine huffed and kept quiet for long as she seemed to have an internal fight "Would you consider the Shogun puppet Ei's kid?"
Miko stopped "I don't see how those two things are related"
"Three" She muttered under her breath "Mind reading me the draft?"
Miko nodded, not wanting to push farther than she was meant to "I can do voices for Ei and you if you want" She said with a smirk.
Lumine smiled back "Thank you"
