Chapter Text
Her head was resting on his chest, her arms were wrapped around his torso, and her legs were tangled with his beneath the sheets. She was fast asleep, her breathing was regular, and she didn’t react to his hand gently stroking through her hair. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling, taking in every unevenness and every crack, knowing it was the last time he’d ever see them. He had known the day was coming, even though he had pretended it wasn’t, had chosen to ignore the reality of it. But it was time, and he had to tell her.
