Chapter 1: Rodimus - Mark

Chapter Text

Compared to you, Rodimus was like a blazing tornado of fire, lighting up the darkness. He was everything you were not: charming, likeable, outgoing, brilliant.

It was hard not to admire him, and his easygoing nature. He made it so easy to like him, to want to be friends with him, yet you were always too afraid.

Compared to him, you were a nobody. You were quiet, boring, and barely anyone even knew of your existence on the Lost Light, save for the couple friends you had.

Rubbing your neck, tracing the flames of your soulmark there, you wonder how you even managed to end up with one. You were sure you were undeserving of a soulmate. After all, who would want to be with you for eternity?

A small part of you hopes that you never meet them. That way, you wouldn’t have to see the disappointment on their face.

Sighing, you get up off your berth and leave your habsuite, heading to Swerve’s to meet your friends. They hated when you got self-deprecating, so you try to settle your emotions.

As you walk down the hall, you hear a commotion up ahead. You ignore it, as the Lost Light is always noisy at this time.

Unfortunately, you picked the wrong day to stop paying attention. When the noise suddenly gets louder, loud enough for you to register it as footsteps, it’s too late.

A bright orange figure barrels into you, and you end up a dazed heap on the ground with Rodimus lying on top of you, groaning in pain.

“I told you running in the halls was a bad idea.”

Rodimus lifts his head, turning it to glare back at his companion.

“Shut up, Drift,” he says, before turning back to you, blue optics bright with concern.

“Sorry about that. You okay ther…”

He abruptly trails off, and you know the reason why.

Your neck stings, as your once dull soulmark comes to life in what must’ve been a dazzling sight. From your own point of view, you watch as a beautiful pattern of shapes awakens bright with colour on Rodimus’ own shoulder.

“It’s you…” Rodimus breathes. A smile bursts onto his face, warm and radiant and perfect. “It’s you! You're my soulmate! I finally found you!”

You don’t know what to do. Rodimus looks like he wants to kiss you, so you do the only thing you can think of.

You push him off of yourself, and run.
