Work Text:

Kaminari worked on a ranch, finding himself mostly working with taming wild horses. A dangerous job, but one that he lived for. He has done it for years, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Every Friday night, with a couple of guys that he worked with, he would go to the nearby bar to just have a couple of drinks.

It was a rather popular one, well popular in the slightly small town he lived in. This bar was one that would occasionally have singers there. Usually just small, not very well-known singers.

Tonight was one of those nights. He sat at the bar, turned in his chair to be able to see the stage.

Though he has had a couple of drinks, he was sober enough to see just how breath-taking the woman performing was. Kyoka Jirou, he had figured out her name since it was announced before she had started singing.

She had fair skin and short, dark purple hair and deep blue, almost purple eyes, which were accompanied by black winged eyeliner. She dressed slightly alternative and she was a little skinny. But, god, she had a gorgeous smile. And a beautiful voice.

He was weirdly attracted to her and seemingly couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

Denki stuck around long enough to the point where she had ended her performance. A few of his work friends encouraged him to go and talk to her. So that was what he did.

He stood up, noticing that she was now walking towards the bar, probably to get a drink. Wiping his sweaty palms on his worn-out jeans, he made his way over as quick as possible.

“Hey, darling. Can I buy you a drink?” The way he spoke, made it clear that he was slightly tipsy, but he still meant every word. Even the way he called her darling was more endearing than pushy. Maybe taking a few shots before talking to her was a bad idea.

“Excuse me?” The girl spoke, seemingly a little taken aback. Which was understandable. A tipsy man had just approached her and called her a pet name.

“Sorry.” Despite his apology, he still walked alongside her. “Do you, like, not drink?”

“I do.” She returned.

“So,” He paused for a moment, then continued talking, “Can I buy you a drink?”

“I suppose.” Jirou shrugged her shoulders.

Those two words made his face practically light up with excitement. He took her to a part of the bar counter with two empty seats. He told the bartender to just put her drinks on his tab.

After they got their drinks, she prompted him with a question, “Do you just call every girl darling?”

“Ah, no.”

“It’s weird, you know.”

“Sorry. I just think you’re pretty, that’s all.” Being tipsy also made him more honest. Usually, he would just drop hints that he thought she was pretty. But, alcohol made him oddly honest.

“Mhm.” She seemed to brush that comment off, almost as if she didn’t believe it.

“You don’t think you’re pretty?” He asked. One thing he was good at, was catching onto little things like that. He may be horrible at flirting, but he was good at reading people.

“No, no, it’s not that. People just don’t tell me that often, I guess.” The woman shrugged her shoulders.

“They should. It’s true.” He watched as a little smile pulled at the corners of her mouth. One incredibly stunning smile. “You have a pretty smile too.”

“Now I know you’re just making this shit up.” Even if it was a bit of a harsh statement, it was said with a chuckle.

“Honest truth, I swear!” Kaminari couldn’t help but smile too. “This is going to sound like a random question-“

“Nothing was more random than you calling me darling, but go on.”

“Do you want to go get dinner sometime?” He asked, expecting a hard no or a questionable maybe. So, he was surprised when she nodded her head.

“You don’t seem half bad, so why not? I’m only in town a few days, so I’ll give you my number and we can work something out.” She took out a pen and wrote her number down on a napkin she pulled from the napkin dispenser. Then, handed it over to the smiling blonde.

“Thanks, darling!” He was met with the roll of her eyes.
