Chapter Text
Through the hallway, all around are sounds of friends talking, young lovers kissing, music from earbuds that are a bit too loud, and the complaining of random people about homework and recent tests
How is this different from high school? Ralsei thought to himself as he walked through the hall to his room. He wasn't exactly excited about college, but he needed a degree if he wanted to help people effectively.
He walked up to the door to his dorm and took a deep breath before opening the door.
Inside was a window that split the room into two halves; one half had a neat-looking bed with an empty nightstand next to it. There was an open dresser on the wall, and the walls were bare except for a small clock reading 3:40 on the wall.
The other side was another story: the bed was messy, the dresser had clothes sloppily placed inside it, only a few actually folded, there were posters of random celebrities on the walls, and the nightstand had two pictures, one of a deer girl on it, a smirk on her face wearing a baseball uniform, and the other of a boss monster hugging a strange looking monster with one arm and making a peace sign with his free hand.
He set his bag next to the clean bed and sat on it. "I guess this is mine…" he says awkwardly to himself. He pulls a paper out of his bag. It's his schedule; from 8:00 am to 11:00 am is class time, "probably a good idea to wake up at about seven."
"Seven thirty is better unless you have a class in another building," Ralsei heard a voice say
He looks up and sees a towering figure three, maybe four feet taller than Ralsei. He looked much older than Ralsei, who was barely 18. The figure standing over him looked 22
Ralsei gulped before saying, "Oh, hello, are you my roommate?" He asked nervously
The figure let out a small chuckle. "It would seem so," he offered a hand to Ralsei. "The name Asriel everybody calls me Azzy. What's yours?" Azzy says with a smile
Ralsei takes his hand. "Nice to meet you. My name is Ralsei…I don't have a nickname," he says a bit awkwardly.
"Eh, give it time; some cute guy will come along and give you one," he says, causing Ralsei to blush. Azzy plops himself onto the messy bed. "Welp Ralsei, welcome to hometown university, the most boringly named college on this side of the entry point," he says with a bored-sounding voice. "I've only got three rules for being my roommate: one, Wear deodorant; two, Take a shower at least once every two days; three, Clean your own stuff," he says with a slightly jovial voice. "You follow those rules. I'll follow them as well." he offers his hand out again. "Sound like a deal?"
Ralsei takes his hand. "Yeah, sounds like a Fair deal," he says with a polite smile.
"I can tell we'll get along just fine," Azzy says with a smile. "Now, I'll leave you be for a bit to get your side of the room situated." Azzy stands up and walks to the door. "If you need anything, just ask someone until you get an answer you like," he says about walking out.
"Oh, there is one thing. I looked on the school website but didn't see much information. Do you have a list of the school events? Or some extracurricular activities?" he said, pulling out a notebook from m his bag.
Ariel let out a giggle. "Yeah, this place isn't very tech savvy; you can put the notebook away, though you can still find them online." he pulled out his phone and opened an app called Firstborn "I'll invite you to the school server; it's unofficial, but some professors add to it a lot so it's got a comprehensive list of everything that you could do, including events and the like, what's your account name?" he asked opening the search bar on the app.
"…um I don't believe I have that…is it free?" he said, pulling out his ancient phone, which was too old even to install the app.
"Oh…uh," Asriel thought momentarily before pulling out a second phone and handing it to Ralsei. "Here, just take my backup. It's got the app installed, plus an account I am already friends with on my main."
Ralsei took the phone with a surprised look on his face. "A-are you sure? The phone is a very nice gift, and we just met each other," he said, delighted he got such a nice, generous roommate.
"Eh, it's fine. I barely use that phone anyway; it's a bit older than my main one. I've had it forever and never did anything with it," Asriel said, sitting next to Ralsei and pointing at an app. "That one firstborn, it's the one with the server on it." Ralsei clicks on it, and the app opens; while it's loading, a message pops up in the middle of the screen saying, 'Welcome, GoatPrince2015.'
"Goat prince?" Ralsei said with a slight giggle
"I was going through a phase," Asriel said, returning the giggle. "You can change it if you want; just don't use your real name. Doxxing yourself is a bad idea."
doxxing? He didn't know what it meant but felt it wasn't good to do. I'll keep the name for a bit. It's not bad if I can't use my own," he browsed through the app, figuring out how it worked.
"I never talked to anyone with it so I doubt anyone will confuse me for you on there," He said checking his own phone "anyways, I'll leave you to set up your room. I've got a date to attend," he said with a smile after his phone lights up, making a ding sound like he just got a text "like I said if you need me just ask around…that or message me on that app," He said as Ralsei checked out the friend's list, Asriels account was already on there.
"Alright, thank…you…your account name is The absolute god of hyper-death?" Ralsei said, holding back a laugh
"…you're just jealous," He said before leaving the room, leaving a giggling Ralsei to check out his new phone and set up his room.
Ralsei, while setting up his room, considered himself very lucky he got such a helpful roommate.
