Acts of Service

Summary:

Sometimes Jamil doubts his boyfriend's common sense, but sometimes Floyd is just helping in his own way.

Notes:

Happy birthday to the most gorgeous most talented man ever!

Work Text:

“Wait! Floyd! Seriously, I need to get back!”

It was futile to try and get out of the taller one’s grasp, Jamil knew that, but still he had to try. For the sake of his own dorm and maybe the sake of his taste buds.

After all, Kalim had not exactly been successful at hiding that he was planning a surprise party for his vice housewarden together with the whole dorm, and while Jamil sort of appreciated the sentiment he couldn’t exactly say that the words ‘Kalim’ and ‘prepare a party’ in the same sentence didn’t cause him severe anxiety and stress. In the end one could never be too sure what exactly was going on in that spoiled brat’s head and if there was one thing that Kalim was even more known for than being intrusive then it was his severe lack of common sense.

So unless Jamil actually joined the preparations and made sure that things were going according to plan, he couldn’t actually be sure that there would be a dorm to return to in the afternoon.

Maybe it wasn’t quite that bad, but better safe than sorry.

There was just one thing standing in his way right now and it was this terribly stubborn, childish mess of a boyfriend who had been clinging to him for the past twenty minutes as if he was never going to let him go ever again.

In some sense it was probably Jamil’s own fault for believing he could just pay the Octavinelle dorm a small visit, spend an hour or two with Floyd and then leave again when past times had proved that the other could get unbelievably clingy at times. And that he was either not all that much interested in spending time with each other or he was insatiable, no in-between. It was kind of cute, Jamil wouldn’t deny that, especially because he knew that in moments where it was really important that he left Floyd wouldn’t hold him back.

Somehow the dooming destruction of Scarabia didn’t seem important enough.

Actually, when Jamil had explained why he was in a hurry, Floyd had even had the audacity to offer that he could just move into his room. “Think Jade wouldn’t mind”, he had said and first of all, Jamil wasn’t all that sure about that himself and secondly that wasn’t even the issue.

The issue was that all kinds of dangerous things could happen if there was no one to keep Kalim’s delusions under control!

“They’ll be fine without you.”

Floyd either didn’t care or he didn’t know better because he took his time running his fingers through the strands of Jamil’s hair that were loosely falling down his shoulders, arranging them neatly as if there was no reason to rush at all.

Jamil frowned.

“You can’t know that, you haven’t seen the disaster when…”

Floyd interrupted him, his voice surprisingly calm, as if he was just explaining a math question to him.

“I know because Jade and Azul are there to help.”

Jade and Azul…? That didn’t add up at all! There was no reason for the two of them to be there if there wasn’t any benefit they would gain from helping!

“What…? Why would they…?”

Floyd didn’t answer, just gave him a smirk before he leaned closer to peck his lips.

“Happy birthday, Sea Snake~”

He didn’t give the other time to grasp the full meaning of what he had just said before he entwined his fingers with Jamil’s and pulled him back towards the bed.

“You can take it easy for today.”

Jamil’s anxiety didn’t entirely ease up, but still, he could feel the corners of his lips tug up in a smile.

This was certainly one of the better birthday presents he had ever gotten.
