Tanjiro was successful in making Giyu take part in hashira training, and was currently having a soba eating contest and was losing….horribly. During which the two were stuck in conversation. Tanjiro had asked Giyu how close he was with the other hashira.
“I’m friends with Kocho, Kanroji, and Himejima san. They talk to me often, but I don’t talk with the others much.”
“I’ve talked with Ms. Kocho and Kanroji san too, but I haven’t talked with Himejima san yet though, what’s he like Giyu san?”
“He’s a nice respectful man, he talks with me often, he’s very friendly” Giyu said as he was finishing a bowl of soba
Tanjiro would then to go on about his friends, Inosuke, Zenitsu, Kanao, Genya, Muichiro, Senjuro, Aoi, the butterfly girls, and many many more.
“I don’t speak with Tokito much, I didn’t know he could be friendly….perhaps I should get him some food he likes, so that we can talk to each other more”
“You should Tokito san is very nice!”
“I had no idea that Shinazugawa had a younger brother….he never mentioned it”
“Genya told me about how he’s trying to apologize to Sanemi because of something that happened to them when they were young”
“Oh….”
There was a long silence, so long that they finished eating, Giyu paid and they left. As they were leaving tanjiro thought of a weird question.
“Hey Giyu, is there anyone that you’re in love with?”
This caused the water pillar to stand in shocked and give Tanjiro and confused face. All Tanjiro did in return was giving Giyu a derpy smile.
After a few seconds of them staring at each other, Giyu sighed
“I suppose….I love….Kocho”
“Really!? That’s amazing!”
“I also think I like Sanemi as well, but I’m not sure if he’ll accept me”
“Don’t worry Giyu I’m sure that if you choose to be with Sanemi he’ll accept you”
“......Thank you”
“Why do you like Ms. Shinobu and Sanemi if you don’t mind me asking”
Giyu stood still for a few seconds thinking as to why he loves these two, then the answer came to him
“They’re both really strong, skilled, and hardworking. And I’m not sure why but their anger also makes me love them more. Shinobu is pretty too, she and kind out of everyone else she’s talked with me the most, and I enjoy our talks.”
“That’s adorable!” Tanjiro thought before Giyu turned to him, catching Tanjiro’s attention
“What about you Tanjiro? Is there anyone that you’re in love with?”
Even though Tanjiro was kinda expecting Giyu to ask him that question as well he wasn’t ready for it, he blushed a little bit feeling embarrassed about who he was in love with
“Umm Inosuke and….Kanao”
Giyu was shocked, Kanao he was expecting but Inosuke? The weird boar kid? That was a shocker
“The…..boar mask kid?”
Tanjiro now sensing and smelling Giyu’s confusion only got more embarrassed
“Y-yeah, both him and Kanao have pretty attractive and both treat me well. Inosuke loves giving me little acorns it’s so sweet, he also keeps checking up on me, though he eats my food while doing it most of the time. He also helps me and Zenitsu whenever we’re feeling down and he-”
Tanjiro went on and on and on while Giyu just stared, understanding why Tanjiro could like Inosuke and Kanao…..though it seemed that Tanjiro loved Inosuke way more since he was still talking about him…..how strange
"I see" he said though he really didn't
"Hey Giyu…" Tanjiro said catching the water pillars attention
"We're getting prepared to defeat Muzan and other demons, but there's no guarantee that we'll survive to see the end of it."
Giyu said nothing he waited for what else Tanjiro would say
"So do you that maybe we should maybe try to tell them, so that we can get that off our chests and not die regret not telling them how we feel"
Normally Giyu would have dismissed the idea claiming that he isn't the one that should be with Kocho he wasn’t worthy of being with her, but thanks to Tanjiro reminding the water pillar, of his friend Sabitos words and his sister he had a change of heart
".....I believe we should there's no turning back now."
With that they both agreed to confess their feelings to their crushes as soon as they can and tell the other about it
With that the 2 went their separate ways
They still had training to do
