Chapter Text

Charles knocks on the door of Bernard's little old hut.

Bernard is just standing inside, unmoving, staring at the wall vacently with his underbite prominent. His eyes come alive and he goes to answer the door.

A few more situations that are like this: Bernard interacting with a vendor until his script is over while Charles is elsewhere, then just stopping and waiting in stand-by animation, staring into the middle distance until Charles returns to join him.

One time Bernard is just facing the wall until Charles comes in the room, and he animates again.

Another Bernard just marches past Greg expressionless and without his usual swagger until he's close enough to Charles, and his personality kicks in.

Finally, we see Bernard go into t-pose once Charles has gone off into the distance enough.

"I still don't understand this exercise routine you have Bernard." Charles says as he returns, not noticing how unresponsive Bernard is when he isn't around.

Charles brings Bernard to life. Bernard's purpose is to mug, and he can't mug alone.

It's two against one. It has to be two against one.
