The Nurse's Assistant

Summary:

Considering the amount of times Sirius has visited the nurse, it's incredible he never noticed the assistant. For Remus, let's just say he chose the right job.

Notes:

English isn't my first language sorry for any mistake.

Chapter 1: I - Meeting

Chapter Text

I can't believe this. I hit one kid, once, and I was called to see the supervisors, like, yes, maybe beating up a sixteen year old boy because he insulted James was an overreaction, but I can't let people think they can shit talk to my friends and get away with it. Especially not the trainees, they gotta understand how things work here: you can say whatever you want, but there are consequences.

So I walk through the halls of what was once a castle, now taken over by an organisation of assassins, and get to the main office, the supervisor's. After waiting for a bit outside, the boy's friend walks out the door and leaves, avoiding eye contact with me. I might get into trouble, but at least they got the message. Entering the room, I see them, McGonagall looking like she hadn't slept in weeks and Dumbledore looking like a time bomb ready to tell me every mistake I made.

  -You hit him?

-Of course! He offended James, and then me, after I tried to get him to apologise, also, he hit me back!- That came out more childish then I expected.

-Potter can handle being called a "son of a bitch" Black, he's an adult, maybe it is time for you to act like-

-Sirius-Minnie cut him off, probably making him angrier- You are one of the best we got, we can't afford you beating up the newbies-Minnie explained, way calmer than the old dude- You have a reputation to maintain

-I am maintaining my reputation, the reputation of someone who won't accept any disrespect. Not to mention, I only do that to the bratty ones. If anything, I'm doing you a favor. We don't need any rebels here.

-Well, we cannot let people believe that just because they are older, or better at the job, that they can go around getting into fights. This place is filled with trained assassins with anger issues, thinking their actions will go unpunished? That would definitely incentivate said rebels.- They can't punish me, I got into a fight, it's literally any other tuesday. She looks at Dumbledore, looks at me- So we decided that you shouldn't go out in the field for a month.

-No?

Dumbdoor has a way of pushing my buttons I just can't explain. He thinks he owns this shit and treats everyone, even some instructors, like they are bellow him, not to mention he is constantly manipulating new people, pretending they are special and out of the curve, giving them special tratment, just so they won't question when he sends them to suicide missions. After years in the Black house the urge to question authorities came naturally to me, but with him, it was even stronger.

-Yes! You have broken too many rules without receiving any- I get up-Hey, where do you think you're going?

I wasn't going to stay there listening to that jackass projecting his traumas onto me, so I left McGonagall just sighed and told me to go get my ass to the nurse, maybe not in those words, but as I left I heard him talking some shit about her "spoiling me to much", and how James Peter and I never get into trouble for what we do, wich is true, but we are good at our job, and leaving me out of the field is straight up stupid, and they know that. That man's just bitter 'cause no one has ever loved him and he has to take his pain out in innoce- Who's that dude??

  -I'm Madam Ponfrey's assistant.

_Shit, I said that out loud?- I knew there was a new dude, didn't know he was hot, tall, scars in his face and hands, empty eyes with a touch of sweetness in them. Holy fuck what am I saying?

-Yeah, I've been here the last two months, but just took care of the files and organised everything. Now that Pomfrey is out of town, I'll do her job. Anyway, why are you here?

-The old man wanted me to get my stab checked- I said as I took my shirt off-Pomfrey said it wasn't infected, but its taking a lot longer to heal than normally.

-So this has nothing to do with the black eye, the cut in your forehead, or the fight you got into earlier?-I raise my hand to my head. Fuck, I'm bleeding. That kid made more of damage than I would like to admit.

-News travel fast huh?- Turns out the kid had also come to get checked, something about a broken arm, nothing he didn't deserve.- But no, he barely made a scratch, the wound is kinda worrying me though, its been almost a week and still open.- I jumped back a little when he touched the area aroud the wond, wich made him a little worried- It doesn't hurt, your hands are just cold.

-Sirius, right? Do you smoke? Drink?-He asked while checking the wound, didn't look at me.

-Why you wanna know? Asking me on a date?-He just laughs, but I was being quite serious, what I wouldn't give to take that sweater off of him... What can I say? I have a soft spot for nerds-Dude, I assassin people for a living, of fucking course I smoke and drink.

-Well, it narrows your veins, stiffens the tissue, therefore, it slowers the healing process. Normally, I would tell you to lay off the booze and smoke less, but how I know that it won't be happening I can put one of those stickers that help closing a wound, what do you think?

  -Yeah, sure.

As I waited for him to go get the things in another room, poor guy looked kinda lost, Prongs walked in, said he had been looking for me, worried after I never went back after leaving the supervisors' office.

James has been my best friend since we were eleven, after a group of assassins invaded my home, they got rid of my parents and found me and my brother in our bedrooms, asleep, covered in bruises. They brought us to the organisation, I had heard of them before, my parents had told me to be careful, not that they cared about my safety, they were worried about how much information I could give away. I  was very scared at first but then I slowly realised they had saved me, and started training. I met Jamie and Pete in my first class. We've been best friends ever since.

-Don't worry, I just came to get my stab checked. The new bloke said I've been doing too many drugs, causing difficulties for my body.

-I though that only happend to old people. I guess you do drink a lot.

-You're saying that as if I had a drinking problem, you know damn well I only drink when I'm nervous.

-Of course, only the days that end in ''y''.

Like he could say anything, he drank more than I did! Not to mention most of the time I really drank, he was involved. James is my best friend, but I can't exactly say he's a good influence. Also he has this insane luck to everything, he can spend the whole night getting drunk and the next day he just hides from de instructors, technicaly we aren't supposed do drink inside the castle, something about avoiding drunken fights. It is really not that hard to find Jamie and Lily drunk or high at the most random times of day, but that motherfucker ALWAYS gets away with it.

The new guy comes back, a lot more boxes in his hand than he would need to take care of me.

-Hey, sorry to make you wait. Had to get these from the- He stops, looks at James up and down- you weren't here before.

-And I won't be here for long.-Prongs gets a little scared when he shows up out of nowhere and goes for the door -Come to my dorm when you're done, pads.

The dude just brushes it off and starts cleaning the wound, to then put the stickers and I put on my shirt. When I'm about to get up and thank him I realised I don't know his name. Guess I was too busy checking him out.

-Sorry, but I don't think I caught your name. You have access to my entire medical history and I don't know what you are called, seems a bit unfair.

  -Uh, Remus.

-Well Remus, thank you for your help- He was probably going to say something like ''just doing my job'' but I cut him, speaking faster than I think-Would you like to go out tomorrow? A pub in the city perhaps?

-I mean, I don't think your boyfried would like that-He says, after thinking for a bit, almost like he had an epiphany.

  -Then it's a good thing I don't have a boyfriend.

-What about the bloke that was just here?

-Who? James?-I cand hold my laughter-Oh no, no, no, he's just a friend. So, tomorrow?

-Yeah, sure.- Yes!-But I have to work here untill 21.

-No worries, the good places don't open until 22. Can you meet me in the quad at 21:30?

  -Yep.

  -Okay then, good night.

  -Good night, Sirius.

I leave, can't help but smile. I've been with a fair amount of people, but there is something about Remus. The way he seems so sure of everything he does, like he has it all a planned in his head, the way he seems so aprochable, yet so guarded. He's not just hot, he makes me curious.

Notes:

I just kinda wrote as it came to mind, but I loved writing it.
I tought of putting Remus to work in the library, but medical assistant just made sense.
P.S.: 21=9pm and 22=10pm
