Chapter Text
(A Kemono Friends Story? Yes! I’ve recently got myself into the world of Kemono Friends, and I decided to make a self-insert story while my creative juices are flowing in my brain. Without further ado, here is: The Human Friend that loved Japari Park!)
A human would be lying unconscious in the plains of Japari Park. The sunlight bounced off his pale skin and light green shirt. His sunhat was barely hanging off of his head, his dirty brown hair could be seen under it. He also wore khaki shorts and hiking shoes. He had a bag next to him as well.
He would lay there until someone, or something, had found him. He would find out later he was very lucky they had found him. She had gray hair and hazel eyes, with 2 elephant ears and a trunk as a scarf. Hanging from her hair were 2 white tusks. She wore a short blue denim crop top and short gray jean shorts. She had a gray tail, gray thigh-highs and gray sneakers. She found the human in the grass laying down.
Strange…The Friend thought. He doesn’t look like an ordinary Friend to me…
She walked closer towards the human, observing him.
Is that what I think it is…? She thought.
She leaned over towards him.
I gotta wake this person up…She thought.
“Hey…wake up…” The Friend shook the human slightly.
The human’s eyes flickered. “Wh…
The Friend sighed in relief. “Thank goodness, you’re alive…who knew what would happen if anyone else found you?
The human’s eyes widened at the sight of them. He saw the tusks and the trunk. “Woah…”
The Friend tilted her head in confusion. “What’s wrong?”
The human slightly smiled. “The tusks…and the trunk…what are you?”
“I’m African Bush Elephant, King of the Savannah.” The Elephant girl nodded at him. “I found you lying here in the grass…”
“I see…” The human understood. “It’s an honor to meet you then!” The human stood up and bowed.
African Elephant Giggled. “No need to be so fancy about it!”
The human sheepishly looked away, a little embarrassed with himself. It was then he realized how short he was compared to her. African Bush Elephant was the tallest of all land mammals, she was at least 2 feet taller than him. However despite the height difference, he felt at ease.
“May I ask your name?” African Elephant asked.
The human looked at her as if he had a question mark floating above his head. “My name? Oh! Uh…my name is…is…” Huh? Why can’t I remember my name…?
“What’s wrong?” She asked him.
“I…I…can’t remember…” The human looked at her in despair. “I can’t remember my name…”
African Elephant frowned. “Surely you must have a name…” It was at that moment she saw the bag. “What’s that?”
The human looked behind him. “A bag?” He looked just as confused as her. He went over and grabbed it.
She went over to look with him.
The human opened the bag and saw a notebook. The word “Gage'' was printed in bold text on the front.
“Gage…” They both said.
“That must be your name!” The African Elephant smiled at him.
The human nodded. “I guess so. My name…is Gage.”
“I wonder if there’s anything inside the notebook.” She turned to the first page.
Gage looked at the text on the front. “Welcome to Japari Park! This is a notebook where you can keep a record of all the different Friends you find here! It’ll come in handy!”
“So it’s a logbook…” Gage nodded.
“Maybe…if you put some Friends in the notebook…” The African Elephant spoke. “Maybe you’ll regain some of your memories back?”
The human looked up at her. “I hope so.” He chuckled. He found a pen attached to the front and grabbed it and looked at the blank page. “Would you mind if I put you in it?”
She giggled. “I don’t mind at all! Even if I don’t trigger something, it’ll be useful in case you mistake someone else for me, or me for someone else!”
Gage swung his bag over his shoulder. “Well, if it’s okay, for the first few animals, you come with me? I don’t know everything yet, so I’d feel safer.”
The Elephant girl nodded. “Yes! That sounds like a great idea! There are some dangerous Friends around here, so safety is in numbers. However, understand that I can’t watch over you forever, alright?”
The human nodded. “Alright, I understand.”
“Great! The day is still bright, so we have plenty of time to meet some new Friends! Come on!” African Elephant held out her hand and Gage took it.
This was the beginning of Gage’s quest to find his memory in Japari Park.
