Despite the fact that Tony and Steve have their differences, and that they will literally fight over it (Civil War), they are always there for each other. Like when Tony called Steve in for a mission that he needed Steve and his team’s abilities for, Steve was there to pull Tony out his funk because Pepper and him broke up. Steve was able to make Tony laugh. He succeeded where the others failed. Tony, being the caring friend he is, helped Steve out of his funk because his best friend, who he thought was dead, just came back and when Steve thought he finally had him back, Steve’s friend went back into cryo. Tony knew that Steve kept the arm that was shot off and would sometimes stare longingly at it. Tony would pull Steve out for Shawarma and movies till the super soldier was okay again. Even if it meant forgetting about the one man who made his childhood a little easier, Steve was willing to do that for the great friend he made in the 21st century.
