*The Summer of 1971*
Remus Lupin
Remus sits at the breakfast table eating toast when he hears a flapping at the window and he gets up quickly to open it. A large important looking tawny owl flies in and onto the table, almost landing in his toast, Remus calls his mother through to collect the post. Hope comes through to collect the post and when she sees who it's from she smiles.
"It's for you Remus" Hope says as she hands him the letter.
Remus eagerly opens the letter his hands tracing over the wax seal and the yellowish parchment paper. He looked curiously at the spindly green writing before unfolding it and reading.
Dear Mr. Lupin,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.
Professor McGonagall.
First year students will require:
1. Three sets of plain work robes.
2. One plain pointed hat for day wear.
3. One pair of dragon-hide gloves.
And the following set books:
1. The standard book of spells by Miranda Goshawk.
2. One thousand magical herbs and fungi by Phyllida Spore.
3. A history of magic by Bathilda Bagshot.
4. Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling.
5. A beginners guide to transfiguration by Emeric Switch
6. Magical drafts and potions by Arsenius Jigger
7. Fantastic beasts and where to find them by Newt Scammander
8.The dark forces: a guide to self protection by Quentin Trimble
All students must be equipped with:
1. One wand
2. One standard "size 2" pewter caldron
3. One set of glass or crystal phials.
4. One telescope.
5. One set of brass scales.
Students may also bring an Owl, a Cat or a Toad.
Remus' eyes lit up in excitement as he finished reading the letter. Remus thought back to when his father had told him about his days at Hogwarts, it had sounded amazing and he had always wanted to go.
