Tony’s Instagram Stories

Summary:

Sometimes Tony loved to share a little too much, especially when he was excited about something. Telling him that he was going to be a father is going to stir up a lot excitement. Steve just hopes Tony keeps it to himself this time and not to his million of Instagram followers.

Notes:

This was gonna be a one shot but I decided to make it a short story with small to medium length chapters. Pretty much each chapter will be Tony documenting everything 😆

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Steve doesn’t know why he’s so nervous to tell his husband the exciting and good news. He knows for a fact that Tony wasn’t going to react negatively when he tells them they were going to have a baby. They’ve discussed the idea of having kids and Tony had promised he was on board, which led them to months of trying. It finally paid off and they were finally going to add a little one to their family.

To be honest Steve is nervous about what Tony is going to do once he finds out why Steve suddenly can’t stand the smell of his cologne and morning coffee. Sometimes Tony loved to share a little too much, especially when he was excited about something. Their wedding, for example, was meant to be a private affair with just their close friends and family. Tony decided to post a video to his Instagram account, showing his millions of followers and the world the moment he said ‘I do’.

Steve had not been pleased, especially after the video was leaked to major media outlets and they were talked about for weeks. Everyone knew they were married and the world went insane, constantly talking about them and creating opinions. Some of the reactions had been pleasant, while there were a few that had Steve wishing he never got involved with social media at all. He didn’t have to worry about that back in the forties.

Eventually the hype died down and everyone moved on with their lives, allowing them to breathe again and focus on being a happy married couple. And for the most part everything was good. Perfect even. Tony occasionally shared a video or a photo of them, which in turn created more comments and attention.

Steve was worried that now he was going to have to deal with that all over again. It’s bad enough the media decided to speculate when he and Tony would have children, as if that was any of their business. That lead to more unwanted opinions and even a few concerns complete strangers had. Some believed Tony was too old to be having children, while others thought a couple of superheroes shouldn’t be procreating because of the risks and dangers they’d be putting innocent children in.

Steve once again tried to ignore all of it. It didn’t matter what other people thought about them. All he cared about was the man he loved and the bright future ahead of them. Tony wanted children and assured Steve that he didn’t care what anyone thought.

So Steve musters up the courage to face his husband and tell him the exciting news.

Tony is down in his workshop, blasting music and drinking what Steve can only assume is his seventh cup of coffee. It’s four in the afternoon but clearly Tony doesn’t care. He’d be down here all night if it wasn’t for Steve.

Tony notices him and has JARVIS lower the volume. Steve can still hear the familiar guitar solo from the AC/DC song, but it’s low enough that he can talk to Tony without the rock song blaring and disrupting their conversation.

“Hi, honey,” Tony greets, lifting his head to shoot Steve a smile before turning back to his work.

“Hi,” Steve says and comes over, not surprised to find Tony working on another suit upgrade for him. It’s the third Cap suit this month. “Do I really need another one?”

“I knew you were gonna say that. Yes, you do. The last one didn't hold up as well as I liked.”

Steve nods. “That last one did tear pretty easily.”

“This fabric is much better I promise.”

“Make sure it stretches. Especially in the middle.” Steve smiles and places a hand over his belly. He won’t be showing for a while and he sure as hell won’t be wearing the suit while pregnant, but he wants to see if Tony would get the hint.

Tony frowns. “Odd request but okay. Are you expecting to gain weight or something? I mean this is you we’re talking about here. I’ve seen you eat three cheeseburgers in one sitting and nothing ever happens to you.”

“Maybe I am.” Steve chuckles and wraps his arms around Tony’s neck, then he leans in and says softly in Tony’s ear, “Because I’m pregnant.”

Tony’s jaw drops and he quickly turns his body to properly face his husband. “Did you say just you’re pregnant!”

Steve smiles and nods.

Tony jumps out of his seat and pulls Steve into his arms. “Oh my God! We’re having a baby!”

Tony brings Steve in for a gentle kiss. His hand travels between them and lands on Steve’s belly. It’s still flat and hard as a rock, but in just a few months time it would swell and reveal the life they created.

“I can’t believe we’re having a baby.” Tony grins, his hand still resting over Steve’s stomach. “This is so exciting. You and me are having a baby. A tiny little person!”

Steve chuckles and lovingly wraps his arms around Tony’s neck. “So you’re not internally freaking out right now?”

“Oh, I’m definitely freaking out right now. But I’m so happy and I can’t wait to do this with you. First marriage and now this? It can’t get any better.”

Steve smiles. “I’m happy you’re happy. But can you do something for me?”

“Cravings already?” Tony smirks.

“No.” Steve rolls his eyes. “Can you please not—God, how do I say this? Blab this to everyone?”

“Blab? When have I blabbed?”

“Our first date, our engagement, our wedding…”

“Oh. Sorry. I just get so excited.”

“I don’t mind a few posts but nothing too extreme okay?”

“Okay.”

Satisfied with that answer, Steve smiles and leans in to capture Tony’s lips in a kiss. “Thank you,” he says after they’ve pulled apart.

“So just a few posts?” Tony asks.

Steve nods. “That’s it. I’m going to talk with Nick about a statement. But I want to wait until I’m a little further along before we say anything.”

“Okay, that works. I promise I’ll be super tame.”

Steve doesn’t know why he’s slightly hesitant to believe him. Maybe because he’s heard something similar to this before. But he wants to give his husband the benefit of the doubt. He just prays he doesn’t wake up and find his name trending again.
