Chapter Text
Not much was known about her origins. All Elwyn and Taylor know is that she appeared one rainy night covered in dirt and all sorts of other debris. She wandered the streets for what seemed like hours according to them. Shane decided that he would help out the poor girl and get her back on track, as he believed that she was suffering a mental break and unknowingly lost a portion of her memories.
Sonus couldn’t trust them at first. She remained silent and cooperative, silently taking advantage of their hospitality and going out during the night to seek out the mysterious force that harmed her in the past. Overtime (no pun intended), she began growing close to her two roommates.
Elwyn, a patient and kind man who took to teaching her skills and other things about the modern world was someone who she knew held his secrets, as she sensed an otherworldly energy about him.
Taylor, a relaxed yet boisterous person who gave Sonus a sense of familiarity and friendship, was someone who she began opening up to much more easily than before. Their shared struggles and emotions reigned true one night during a particularly intense session, but that will be saved for later.
Shane was the most difficult to crack, according to Sonus. He was stoic and never seemed to have an interest in anything other than books, a busybody during the day at work and out during the night. He respectively never crossed her boundaries, and she with him. When Taylor talked about how Shane had helped them out during their years as a teenager Sonus wondered if they were talking about the same Shane Polin she met.
Nonetheless their relationship neither improved nor decreased as time went on. Well, until one night while Sonus was making her rounds in the neighborhood, she caught Shane getting bloody and bruised up in a dark alleyway with a bunch of other people. She rushed to his aid immediately and casted magic to drive off the others and dragged Shane out of there.
Once they were done running, Shane was the first to speak. Apprehensive, understandably, but Sonus couldn’t bear to tolerate a lecture from the man she had saved. There in that night, she finally unloaded everything she had held back about. Her tears ran down her cheeks as she silently yelled about her frustrations and desperation to him. ‘You couldn’t understand’, she said as she clutched her face like it was falling apart. She repeated those words like echoes and with a swift motion Shane stepped forward to give her an embrace. One that she desperately deserved.
After that, they grew closer. Now finally understanding her position, Shane vowed to help her in ways he could. Whether it was as an ally against the force or as a family member, whatever she needed he would do.
Her secret was eventually revealed to the two others, but they took it well more than Shane. Elwyn would eventually come to wonder is Sonus could help him with his little ‘Fairy’ problem.
With some circumstances, Sonus managed to locate an odd source of energy at the place they worked at. Ossoteq. With some connections and illegal tampering, Sonus managed to snag a place in IT work despite being shit in that field.
When she arrived to the building she met a nervous and timid woman who helped her check in. There she met up with Taylor and Elwyn, they all chattered amongst themselves like friends meeting up again despite living with each other. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a strange lanky man, he wore a distasteful hat and was mopping the floor. Another man, she assumed who was a higher up began scolding him. As the lanky man looked up he took a glance at the worker then to her.
Sonus saw it with her eyes. A void of nurseries filled with temptation and murderous intent. He looked away; Her resolve was already created on day one, to find out why that man held strange power in this mundane world, and to kill him as swiftly as possible.
