Chapter Text
Will has known that he’s gay since he was 13. Will got so many boners in the changing room and at first, he had no clue why but soon he realized it was happening because he was looking at guys' dicks. So he kept his eyes on his locker and the floor for the rest of Junior high and high school as well. He’s now a senior in high school and he no longer has to worry about getting a hard-on in the locker room because he doesn’t have PE anymore.
Today is the first day of his senior year and Will feels excited about school for the first time in his life. He still has a huge crush on his best friend Mike Wheeler and he feels optimistic about his chances with him because Mike and his step-sister El broke up over the summer. Mike was dumped for the second time by the same girl.
Will told himself that this year he’d tell at least one person that he’s gay. He feels weird that he’s known about his sexuality for 5 years without having anyone to talk to about it. He doesn’t know who he’ll tell yet but it could very well end up being Mike. He wants to tell Johnathan. He wants to tell all of his family.
As he walks into the school for his last first day, Will is next to Eleven and he wants to tell her. But he can’t because this is not the right time or place.
“Why do we still have to go to school? I’m almost 18. 18-year-olds don’t need to go to school.” El states.
“18-year-olds do need to go to school El. We have to finish our last year to get a job. Or to go to college. That’s why we still go to school.” Will tells El.
“Well, I think it’s stupid. Oh look it’s Max!”
El waves but then stops abruptly when she remembers that Max is blind. “Max, Will, and I are in front of you.”
Max makes her way over to them and lets her guide dog pull her the right way. Ever since Max woke up from her coma, she has been blind and she was almost paralyzed. She got a guide dog because she hated using a cane.
“Hi El. Hi Will.” Max says when she gets to them.
El bends down to pet the dog. “Hi, Aubrey. You’re looking extra cute today.”
“El how many times do I have to tell you to not pet her while she’s working?” Max is annoyed by El doing this every time.
“Oh yeah. Sorry.”

In Will’s first class, he sits next to Dustin and he decides to test the waters with him. He asks him about how he feels about gay people.
“Will I don’t understand what gay people have to do with our AP bio class?” Dustin says looking up from his all about me worksheet.
“They don’t. I was just wondering how you felt about them.” Will writes his favorite color on the page.
“Well, I don’t care about who people have sex with so I guess I’m cool with them,” Dustin replies.
“Oh, nice. Me too.”
In his third period, he sits behind Lucas and asks him the same question.
“I don’t think I care about who people like. I’m pretty sure that my aunt is a lesbian because she’s been living with her roommate since before I was born and she’s never had a boyfriend in her life. So I’m good with people being gay.” Lucas says as he scribbles an answer on his worksheet about how much history he knows.
“Oh cool. Yeah, I am good with them too.” Will is glad that his friends have been reacting so well to this question.
“Why did you ask? Do you know someone who’s gay?” Lucas questions. Will was not expecting him to have a question of his own afterward.
“Uh yeah, you could say that,” Will responds without thinking about how that sounds.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean that I do know a gay person.”
“Oh okay,” Lucas says and that’s the end of the conversation
In Will's last class, he had math with both Max and Mike. He planned to ask them about their feelings about gay people then too but Mike asks him something before he has the chance to.
“Hey, Will. Can you meet me at the back of the school after school?” Mike asked. “I have something I want to tell you.”
“Uh yeah, I can do that.” Will thinks he’ll just ask Mike then. He’s pretty sure that Max would be cool with gay people.

After school, Will gets to the back of the school and sees that Mike’s already there. He quickly walks over to him and smiles brightly.
“Hey Mike!” Will waves.
“Hey, Will.” Mike looks nervous.
“So what did you want to tell me?” Will says getting right down to business. No small talk.
“Oh, so we’re getting right into it. Ok yeah, that’s fine.” Mike takes a deep breath before he speaks again. “El didn’t break up with me because I lied to her again. Repeatedly lied to her. That was our cover story.”
“Wait what? Why did she break up with you then?” Will is a little surprised at this revelation.
“I had cheated on her,” Mike states with regret in his voice.
“Oh wow, you are a douche. But I don’t understand why you had to cover that up. You could have just told us that you were with some other girl.” Will watches as Mike sighs then takes another deep breath.
“I had to cover it up because it wasn’t with a girl. El caught me making out with a guy who goes to a different school, that’s why he kissed me, and she dumped me. At first, she was confused as to why I’d kiss a guy. I explained to her that I’m bisexual and what that was as well. She still dumped me though.” Mike looks sad and disappointed in himself.
Will doesn’t answer immediately after. He is so surprised at this that he can’t speak. He's also very disappointed that Mike’s already taken again. Will is also mad that Mike cheated on his sister.
“Can you please say something?” Mike says. “I just came out to you in one of the worst ways possible and I would like some kind of response to it. Hopefully a positive one.”
“Well, I’m really glad that you told me, Mike. But you shouldn’t have cheated on my sister. How dare you do that to my sister. How would you like it if I cheated on your sister?” Not that Will would ever date a girl let alone cheat on one. He especially wouldn’t date Nancy. She’s Jonathan’s girl. He also would never date Holly because she’s too young.
“You wouldn’t cheat on my sister. Mostly because you wouldn’t dare date either of my sisters. But I am sorry that I cheated on your sister. I apologized to El so many times. I just really wanted to kiss a guy and he offered so I took the opportunity.” Mike confessed.
Will very much wants to say that he should have kissed him then. But he’s not ready to come out just yet.
“Well, maybe you should have broken up with El first. Then gone out and made out with that guy.” Will tells Mike.
“I know that I should have broken up with her first. I just got caught up in the moment.” Mike confess.
“Well, I'm glad that you understand what you did was wrong. And that you apologized. To me and Eleven.” Will feels only a little better now.
“Thank you? I don't know what the correct response is to that. I'm glad that you accepted me though. So thank you for that.” Mike says.
Will walks closer to Mike and envelopes him in a hug.
“Thank you for telling me. You didn't have to.”
“I wanted to,” Mike says as he hugs back. “Do you want to come over to my house and hang out in my basement? Just us?”
They let go of each other. Will steps back a little so that they are a normal space apart again.
“Of course I do,” Will says, and the two of them walk to Mike’s new car and drive to the Wheelers.

It's a full week before Will finds the strength to ask Mike about his new boyfriend. The two of them are in Mike’s basement for the third time that week and Will’s getting bored of his homework so he tries to strike up a conversation with Mike.
“So, Mike, how is your boyfriend?” Will asks and Mike looks up from his history textbook in shock.
“My what?”
“Your boyfriend. The guy that El caught you with.” Will is confused as to why Mike is confused.
“Oh no. Jerold is not my boyfriend. He is not even my friend. He's just some guy I made out with once or twice. I'm very single. I can not believe that you just assumed that he was my boyfriend just cause we kissed.” Mike blabs. “Do you date every girl you kiss?”
“I've never kissed a girl.” Will confess.
“Oh, I'm sorry that you haven't had your first kiss yet.” Mike goes back to his history reading.
Will very desperately wants to tell Mike that he has had his first kiss, it just wasn’t with a girl. Will thinks he might be able to do it. He could probably do it in like another week.
“I never said that I haven’t had my first kiss. I have kissed someone.” Or Will could do it right now.
“Wait what? Who was it then? Was it even a girl?” Mike has finally given up on his reading and pushed the textbook aside.
“No, it was not a girl. I'm way too gay to kiss a girl. It was some guy in our grade. I think his name was Tom. I haven't talked to him since.”
“Oh my god. I'm so glad you told me. Now we can talk about boys with each other instead of always having to talk about girls with our friends.” Mike gets off of his spot on the floor and joins Will on the couch.
“Oh, I wasn't expecting that response.”
“What were you expecting?”
“I don't know just not that you’d wanna talk about boys.” Will was actually worried that Mike would figure out that he had a huge crush on him.
“Oh well, we don’t have to. If you don't want to we can just talk about something else or go back to our homework.” Mike sounds disappointed.
“No, I can talk about boys with you.”
“Okay, so who’s your celebrity crush? Mine has got to be either Charlie Sheen or Kate Bush even though we're supposed to be talking about boys. They are both hot.” As Mike says this Will realizes that he doesn't have any. He only likes Mike.
“I don't think I like any celebrities. I just have a real-life crush.” Will says that and realizes that he shouldn’t have because Mike’s going to ask who.
“Really who is it? Do I know him?” Mike questions.
“Oh yeah. You know him real well.” Will hope that that will be the end of it. He of course did not get what he wanted.
“Is it Lucas? I used to like Lucas.”
“Oh no. It's not Lucas. I can see why you liked him though.”
“Dustin?” Mike asks. “I’m running out of guys I know pretty well here.”
“It's not Dustin.”
“Then who the hell is it?” Mike’s face is all twisted in confusion.
“It’s you, you dumb-ass!” Will yells and covers his mouth as soon as he finishes saying it.
Mike doesn't respond right away. He just stares at Will in shock. Will gets up and starts to walk away but Mike grabs his wrist.
“Wait don't go. Sit back down.” Mike says and Will does.
“Mike just let me go and be embarrassed in private.”
“But you don’t need to be embarrassed. Cause I like you too.” Mike who was still holding Will’s wrist, moves to hold his hand.
“Oh wow. I was not expecting that.” Will admits happily.
“Would you maybe, I don't know, wanna go out with me sometime? We could go see a movie or get burgers or both.” Mike asks and rubs his thumb over Will’s hand.
“Of course, I would.”
*
Tonight is Wil and Mike’s first date and Will can’t find his favorite sweater. He’s dug through his whole closet and dresser twice. So he walks into El’s room knowing that she has it and he sees her wearing it.
“Oh my god. El why do you keep taking my clothes without asking?! I need that sweater! I was going to wear it to the movies tonight.” Will yells.
“Oh, I don’t think you need this. I'll just keep it. Wait, why are you going to the movies? Do you have a date?” El looks up from her Math homework which for any other person would be weird they were doing homework on a Saturday but El is failing most of her classes because all she was taught as a child was how to use her superpowers.
“No, no date. I'm going with a friend. I do need that sweater though. It's cold out.”
“Well if it's not a date then I don't see why you need it. So just go wear something else. I'm sure you can find something even gooder.”
“You know I can't. And for the millionth time El, gooder is not a word!” Will yells as he walks to his room. He ends up wearing a green sweatshirt.
Once Mike pulls up to the house he honks instead of walking up to the door because if he did then whoever opened the door would know that they were hanging out and since El already thought Will was going on a date the others might suspect too.
“Oh, my ride’s here! See you all later.” Will says as he excuses himself from the dinner table.
“OK bye. Have fun on your date!” El yells after Will.
“Wait you're going on a date?!” Joyce questions loudly at Will and he walks out the door without answering.
When Will gets into Mike’s car he sighs.
“What's wrong?” Mike asks in concern.
“My mom and Hop have now figured out that I am in fact on a date. No thanks to El. She is so annoying sometimes.” Will complains.
“Oh yeah. Sisters can be like that. What did she say?” Mike starts the car and begins the drive to the movie theater.
“Well first she took my favorite sweater, so I had to wear this. Then she told me to have fun on my date in front of my mom and Hopper at dinner.” Will complained some more.
“Oh well, that's just great,” Mike says sarcastically. “So just make sure not to let it slip that you were with me.”
“But if I do say I was with you then wouldn’t they just assume that it wasn't a date?” Will questions.
“Well, Joyce and Hopper would but El might suspect something since she knows about me.”
“Oh yeah. You're right. I'll just make up some girl that goes to a different school.” Will says and they soon arrive at the theater.
They get two tickets for Pet Sematary. They hold hands under Mike’s jacket so no one sees. It comforts Will at the scariest parts.
After the movie they make out in the back of Mike’s car. Then Mike drives Will home.
“How was the date?” El asks him as soon as he gets through the door.
“Jesus El! You scared the shit out of me. I just saw a horror movie for gods sake.” Will says as he walks upstairs to his room. The Byers-Hopper house has two stories, unlike Will’s old house.
“Well I didn’t know that!” El says. She follows Will up the stairs and into his room. “So how was it?”
“It was fun. Really fun. We got to first base.” Will smiles at the memory.
“What is first base? I thought you saw a movie not played baseball.” El asked. Will forgot again that El grew up under a rock.
“It’s kissing. We made out in the back of hi-her car.” Will almost said the wrong pronoun for the cover up.
“Oh that is fun. Who was it?” El is now sitting on Will’s bed. He hates it when she dose that because she doesn’t take her shoes off first. Thankfully she’s not wearing shoes right now.
“Her name is uh Michaela. She goes to a different school.” Will lies.
“Oh I was hoping I’d know her. Not that I know that many girls at school.”
“Ok you got details. Now get out of my room!” Will yells and shoves El off his bed.
“Okay okay! I’m leaving.” El finally leaves his room and lies down and thinks back to what happened in Mike’s car.
Will is great full that he didn’t get hard when it was happening. If he had got hard while making out and Mike didn’t he would have been very embarrassed.
Now as he lies in his bed, with is door locked, he pulls his pants down. He takes off his underwear and begins to stroke his hardening cock. Will opens his nightstand drawer and takes out his lotion and tissues. He puts a generous amount on his fingers and rubs them around his asshole. He inserts one and strokes his dick simultaneously. Will moans when adds a second finger. He strokes his cock faster and adds a third. He soon comes all over himself. He cleans it with the tissues then changes his clothes and falls fast asleep.
