A kiss in the night

Summary:

Himeko isn't sure what she considers Welt, until one night Welt takes her by the hand and gives her a push.

Work Text:

Himeko watched the space around her from the parlor car, she reached down and gently hooked her finger against the mug handle and lifted it up to take a sip of the strong coffee in her hand.

Pom-Pom was listening to music as usual. Strange, usually he would be upset that someone measured his height wrong or too tired he would be sleeping standing up.

A door slid open to the red head's right, she didn't need to look at them to tell who it was, especially this late at night, when the other three had went to bed after an exhausting trip down to the xianzhou luofu.

Gentle footsteps and the body stood beside her as she took another sip, "So, how is Dan heng?" She asks, knowing he had been struggling to sleep at night, the red head had noticed this after him asking a few times for her coffee.

Welt smiles, "Sleeping like a baby" He whispers, smiling as he looks over at himeko.

Himeko smiles, "That's good, he must've been so stressed lately, thankfully he's okay..." Himeko was worried infact, she could hear Dan heng occasionally wake up in the middle of the night.

While she was worried about March and Cealus, of course she was slightly more concerned about Dan heng and his...nightmares.

Himeko set the mug down after warming her hands up with it, turning her head to Welt who was looking out to the stars, "Are you okay? I heard from March someone called...Tingyun, was it? Passed away..." She whispered, too afraid to speak up in case Pom-pom overheard and got upset.

Welt nods, he looks over at her and sighs, turning his whole body towards her, reaching over subtly to grab her hand, guiding her gently to the cabin hallway.

The door closed and all the two could hear is the clock on the wall as they walked down the hallway to the final window, the stars brighter than ever before as they both looked out into the galactic surroundings.

The two kept their hands together, and at some point, Welt had locked their hands together. Himeko blushed slightly before her body was turned gently, a hand wrapping around her waist as they slowly moved around, Himeko's shoulders dropping in relaxation as she set her head on her friend's chest.

Friend? She wasn't sure. They occasionally shared moments like these alone, holding hands and just being in each other's arms until they felt happy with how much time they've spent together. That didn't sound like friends.

The two swayed back and fourth until at some point Welt probably noticed how her shoulders tensed slightly, they suddenly stopped, but the hold on her waist didn't leave.

Himeko looked up, "Welt..." She sighs, looking at their locked hands, "I don't know what to call us anymore..." She whispers, knowing if she spoke any louder it may wake the three younger ones.

Welt hums, "together? Well...I'm not exactly sure either." He starts, he leans in a little closer, "But I'm sure we're not just friends anymore..." He adds.

Himeko sighs, "I'm not sure how I feel..." She whispers, choking up. Himeko was sensitive to this, especially around Welt. Around the others, she's a strong, independent woman, but yet, around Welt, she let's her guard down, Welt breaking the wall bit by bit until her heart opens up to him.

Welt unlocks their hands and brings the hand to her soft cheek, cupping her face as he smiles gently, wiping away the tear that looked like a crystal gem against the stars in the night, "Whatever you want" He whispers, "I'll give it to you..." He adds.

Himeko was glad that the lights were off, or else Welt would see the blush on her face.

The red head hated how confusing this all was, especially now that Welt was so sweet underneath his mono looking expressions.

Himeko was desperate for those lips on hers, to finally feel them, especially now that they're this close to kissing already. The red head loved Welt, she can't deny it anymore. "Welt...I want you to kiss me" She whispers.

Welt nods and leans in a little more, "No going back..." He reminds, looking into her eyes to ensure she was in in the right state to do this. From his observations, Welt noticed she didn't look scared, or any type of hesitation that may make her suddenly regret the decision.

So, Welt leaned in and kissed her gently. The two finally kissed after pulling and pushing with each other ever since they had met.

A few seconds pass by and they pull away, "That took a while, didn't it?" Welt whispers, trying to lighten the mood and did just that. Himeko giggles, nodding as she sets her head on his chest, listening to his rapid heart beat.

"Thank you, Welt...for everything" She whispers, finally feeling relief from the kiss they just shared, her shoulders are relaxed, her eye brows aren't furrowed in confusion anymore.

It's clear what they have now and...Himeko loves it.
