Chapter Text
Wednesdays were always a little chaotic. It was the day that the cafeteria served dessert after classes ended. Silver wasn't really interested for such a thing. But he has tried it. The ghost's cooking was always good. The hallways were packed with students trying to go to the cafeteria to snatch a dessert before they ran out. Silver only wanted to get to the hall of mirrors. He had told Sebek he would train with him this evening. So he needed to go get his homework done. If he didn't he might end up falling asleep, and then he would get in trouble again for failing to do his work.
"Oh, Silver!" A feminine voice came from behind Silver. He jumped a little and turned around to see a girl with curly, black hair. How did she get there? He must have been distracted if he didn't notice someone behind him… or maybe it was due to the amount of people in the hallway. He should probably train his awareness later.
"Ah, Hello Amity." Silver greeted the girl. Amity Swevins, The only female in Night Raven College. It was a huge shock to the student body last year when the girl appeared at the entrance ceremony. But Crowley accepted her admission due to the fact that she indeed did have an admission letter from the college, sent to her by the dark mirror. She was sorted into Pomifore. It wasn't very surprising with her elegant, sweet nature. Floyd Leech always seemed to compare her blue eyes to the deep sea, dark and mysterious. But everyone else says that her eyes were more like a butterfly's wings, deep shape of blue, looking innocently at the world around her. "Can I help you?" Amity nodded in reply.
"Ah yes! You are good with animals right? I offten notice that they surround you." Amity gave a curious head tilt. Silver raised an Eyebrow.
"Well… sort of. They just seem to… approached me." Silver answered honestly. Amity gave a nod of understanding.
"Ah, well I see. I need to make a report on deer for my Animal Languages class. Do you happen to know anything useful about them?" Amity gave a head tilt. Silver gave a nod.
"Yes, I do have a good understanding of deer. Would you like me to help tutor you on the subject?" Silver offered. He wasn't one to turn down a fellow classmate in need. Even if they weren't in the same class, they were still both sophomores.
"Yes! That would be great! This is actually due tomorrow… do you think you can come and help me now?" Amity gave a sweet yet desperate look. "I understand if it is a little sudden. It's okay if you have other plans…" she looked hopeful. Geez, how can Silver say no when she looked to desperate and hopeful for help?
"No, I didn't have anything planned untill later. I have some spare time to assist you." Amity seemed to lit up at the confirmation.
"Oh my goodness! Thank you so much!" She gave a bright smile. She happily walked forwards. "Are there any popular places that deer like to hang out? I think it works best if we can watch the deer and you can help answer my questions."
Silver gave a nod. "Yes, that works. Deer like to hang around in the woods behind the school." Amity gave a nod.
"Alright! Let's head over there then. I'm sure we can find lots of deer with your help!" Amity looked away. Silver felt a chill momentarily. Was a window open? That was odd. The chill was gone almost as quickly as it came when Amity looked back at Silver with a smile, leading him towards the woods. Someone probably did leave a window open. Hopefully someone closes it soon.
–
Silver and Amity walk along a dirt path. The tall trees have the afternoon sunlight shining through them. Silver knew these woods well. He had spent quite a bit of time training. Silver was able to easily lead Amity towards the spot where he often find deer. The birds chirping lightly, showing that they were happy to see Silver. A bird landed on Silvers shoulder and he then lightly petted their head with his finger. After appreciating his affection for a moment the bird thew away. Amity let out a laugh at the interaction.
"Animals sure adore you huh…" Amity had a fond look on her face. Why? Did she like animals too?
"Yes. They always had. Ever since I was little." Silver said honestly. Silver turned to Amity. "My father had always thought of it as… a interesting phenom." Amity nodded.
"Yes, quite the beautiful thing…" Silver gave a confused look to Amity's comment.
"Beautiful…?" Amity momentarily froze.
"Well yes… I think animals are quite beautiful." Amity gave a innocent smile. Silver nodded in agreement.
"Yes. They are quite cute." Silver and Amity then soon arived at a meadow. A few deer were scattered around the field. Some eating grass, others were just enjoying the afternoon sun. Silver turned to Amity.
"Alright. We are here." Amity gave a bright smile.
"Oh wow! There are quite a few deer here!" Amity looked impressed at the amount of deer. Silver gave a smile and a nod.
"Yes, they like the sun in the afternoon." Silver moved forwards. A grip on his arm stopped Silver from walking to the deer. He turned around to see that Amity had stopped him.
"I have some water. It was a lot of walking. Do you want some?" Silver thought over it for a moment. It was quite a long walk. And his throat was dry from chatting with Amity the whole way there. Silver gave a nod.
"Yeah, water sounds good. Thank you." Silver take the water gratefully. He opened the bottle and took a sip. Amity gave a small smile.
"Did you know that you change positions around 5 times in your sleep at night?" Amity gave a small giggle. Silver gave a confused look.
"What?" That… was unsettling. Was this some kind of scientific thing? "... how do you know that?"
"Oh, through the window. Surprisingly there is a good view of your room if you find the right spot outside." Silver's heart drops. Had she been… watching him through his window??? "Amity… that's…"
Silver didn't really know what to say to that. He didn't have time to come up with an answer. A wave of dizziness washes over him. A soft pounding in his head started to form. "Ugh…" he rubbed his temple as Amity gave a smirk.
"Oh, already? That potion works faster than I thought… or maybe it's because of you little sleeping spells…" Amity poked her cheek pretending to think. She gave a giggle. "Well, works for me! I might be able to get started on our dinner sooner!" Amity gave a pleased smile.
Silver felt confused. What was happening? A potion? What did Amity do…?
"What did-" "Shhh…"
Amity shushed Silver before he could ask anymore questions. Silver's headache was growing and spots start to fill his vision.
"Everything is fine. I'll take you home. And then everything will be how it should be…" Silver fell forward, unable to feel his limbs. Amity immediately catches him, as if she was expecting him to fall.
"I'll protect you. From all of the world dangers… you are simply too pure to face them." Amity gave a sweet smile. Crap… Silver felt like he was going to-
"Goodnight my love…"
Everything went black.
—
Lilia was in the kitchen. A rare moment he gets, mostly because whenever he offers to make dinner, everyone starts volunteering to cook! It was a sweet gesture. But Lilia enjoyed cooking! He may be old, but he was more than capable of cooking dinner. Lilia was currently making spaghetti. He added a little extra spice for extra flavor. Hopefully the kids will enjoy it! Speoof the youngins… Sebek walked into the kitchen in a sour mood. He froze on seeing Lilia Cooking. Of course as the kids mentor he should check on him.
"Sebek? Why are you so gloomy?" Lilia tilted his head in curiosity. Sebek gave a frustrated sigh.
"I haven't been able to find Silver! We were supposed to train hours ago! He disappeared after classes ended. I thought he would come to training on time but… ugh, he must have fallen asleep somewhere!" Lilia chuckles at Sebeks frustration.
"Ah, that silly habit of his… no matter. I'm sure he is around somewhere… I'll go see if Malleus have spotted him, and then go check common napping spots. Mind watching this for me?" Lilia stepped away from the stove and Sebek immediately took his spot. "The noodles is almost ready! Take them off of the stove in about… five minutes!" Lilia then left Sebek to go search for Malleus. Once Lilia was gone, Sebek tossed the culinary catastrophe.
It wasn't hard to find Malleus. He was working in his room. He was working on homework for his classes Thursday morning. Lilia knocked on the door with patience.
"Malleus, can I come in?" The door instantly opened. Malleus looked away from his work and at Lilia with a raised eyebrow.
"Lilia? Is something the matter?" Lilia gave a shrug.
"Sebek is looking for Silver. Have you seen him anywhere?" Malleus thought for a moment, he then shook his head.
"No, I haven't seen him since this morning." Lilia sighed. He assumed this would be the case. But it didn't hurt to try anyways.
"Alright, thanks Mal. I'll let you be. I'm sure he simply just fell asleep somewhere." Lilia closed the door behind him. Lilia looked outside at the late evening sky. The sun had gone down around thirty minutes ago. The stars shines brightly in their beauty. Odd, Silver never is out this late. He is always back by sunset. How odd of him. Lilia sighed. Best to start searching.
—
There might be a problem. Lilia had searched all of Silver common sleeping spots and found nothing. He had asked a few of Silver's classmates, but everyone said they haven't seen him since class had ended. This was starting to get concerning.
Lilia looked in places where Silver don't hang around often. In the classrooms, he even asked some of the teachers. No one had seen him in hours. This was starting to worry Lilia. Where did his son go? Was he safe? Did something happen to him? This was starting to give Lilia flashbacks of when Silver ran off after Lilia had inconsiderably told Silver the truth about the blood relation between him and Silver.
A bat flew back to him and made squeaky noises. Ah, this bat couldn't find Silver either. Lilia gave a frustrated sigh. He had a harden look in his eyes. He pulled out his phone to tell Malleus about Silvers disappearance. Oh dear, he definitely would be pissed. He opened his messages with Malleus, it was very few, Lilia only did this in urgent situations. He sent Malleus a plain message.
I can't find Silver anywhere on campus. He is missing.
He closed his phone, not wanting to check Malleus's reaction. The thundering was all the answer Lilia needed. Lilia then turned to go to the headmages office. Lilia is a stubborn man.
He will find his son, even if he has to burn the world down to do so.
