Blaze was exhausted. No, to call her exhausted was an understatement. Her eyes were half open, she was barely conscious as she trudged through the halls of her own castle. Today was a busy day for the Princess of The Sol Dimension. She awoke groggy in the morning, hair and fur a mess. The plan was to get up at 6:00am as her first meeting was scheduled for 7:00am that morning. She stumbled out of bed, well… fell- she fell out of bed. Once she rose up on her own two feet she glanced at the alarm clock on her nightstand, and then it hit her; the royal overslept, it was 6:45am and she wasn’t even dressed! She was going to be late!

The cat quickly made her way to her wardrobe and changed from her pyjama shirt and shorts into her regular royal attire. She swiftly tamed her wild hair with a hair band into a ponytail. Her family heirloom golden necklace was the last article to be put on, at it’s centre shimmered a star gifted to her by her closest friend. And so she bolted out of her room to the conference room, almost knocking Gardon over with her hyper speed. She apologised in mid stride, and she was gone the next second. Only to come back a second later as she realised that she had forgotten the documents she needed for the meeting which were still on her vanity desk. The meeting began at 7:00 as scheduled, Blaze was the last person in the room.

She attempted to compose herself even under all the stairs. Her posture instantly stiffened. And the mask fell upon her once again. She sat down and so the discussions about tourist flow, landfill relocation, increasing educational funding, and setting up dates for negotiations between neighbouring Queendom's from nearby islands, began. She truly believed that she went brain dead halfway through. It did not help that all of those matters took place with different groups at different locations around the castle. So, she had to sprint from one side of the enormous palace to the other. All throughout the meetings she could only envy her friend who she knew was sleeping comfortably in his bed. She daydreamed of lying there by his side in his soft embrace. She was embarrassed by that thought.

The meetings ran for five hours without break. Her over sleeping meant no breakfast. And so, she was starving. 12:00 resulted in the first break, the next session beginning at 01:00. She grew more and more embarrassed with each audible tummy rumble, side eyes glancing at her. It was Gardon who came to her rescue, he had disappeared a few hours ago, and reappeared through the conference room doors. It was him who suggested for the governors, advisers, and investors to take a break. The old koala gave the Princess a wink, and she replied with a smile. And so she now lumbered forward through the marble corridors. “Thank you, Gardon.”

“No thanks necessary, little one. You deserve the rest, and far more.” Blaze was making her way to Silver’s room. Only for Gardon to reveal that the timetraveler was in the castle kitchen. Huh. How did he know that?

She had no plan in mind, she just wanted to be with her friend for now, for the limited time that she had. That goofy smile always managed to recharge her batteries. She slammed the doors to kitchen open, stumbled in, and slammed them shut. Just like the koala had said Silver was at the kitchen, washing some dishes with his telekinetic powers.

He turned to her and greeted her with a cheesy smile, “Hi, Blaze!” Showing his gap tooth. The time traveller was still wearing his pyjamas, his loose grey shirt, and black shorts, very similar to the ones Blaze wore. The purple cat buried her face in his chest fur, groaning against him. She snaked her arms around him and placed them on his hips. “Tired?” He asked.

Her head tilted down, and happened to have noticed Silver's footwear. She then looked up at Silver unamused with a stern look on her face, “Silver.”

“B- Blaze.”

“What are you wearing?”

“Pretty cute, right?” He smiled. Blaze was referring to the Princess Blaze-themed fluffy slippers that he was currently wearing. “I saw them at the market, and I just had to get them.” Blaze remained unamused. Blink. Blink. “D- Do you like it?”

She huffed, “... They fit you.” She turned away from him, combatting a smile that almost broke through on her face. But she wouldn't let him have that satisfaction. She walked over to the kitchen table, pulled out a chair and sat down. After a moment, her half-lidded eyes opened wide. She had just noticed a new scent. A collection of various scents actually. The cat couldn't help but sniff the air. Was it present the entire time? Was she really that tired as to not notice it when she entered the room? It smelled... It smelled delicious. “Silver, snowflake, what is that smell?” Her tail began to wave from side to side. Silver noticed; a dreamy expression came over his features.

“Well...” He smiled bashfully, his shoulders shrugged up and his face bowed down shyly attempting to bury his face in his chest fur. He raised his pointing finger and a dozen, or so silver platters covered with dome lids levitated out of seemingly nowhere. The platters landed on the dining table in front of Blaze. “I knew you were swamped with meetings today, rushing here and there and everywhere. So, I knew you'd be hungry. So, I made you your favourite meal;” he waved his pointing finger, teal energy surrounded the many dome covers and raised them in the air revealing piles of food underneath, “Everything.”

Her eyes lit up. And a smile finally broke through. The cat’s eyes drifted over to Silver, the smile turned to a smirked, “Silvy, you know me too well.” Silver placed his palm against his mouth and cheek, attempting to cover his blush. Blaze gazed upon the field of food set before her. A fork and knife coated in telekinetic energy flew up next to her. She gratefully accepted them. Well, she couldn't let all this go to waste, she supposed. And she was starving. So, she just dug in. Silver simply pulled up a chair and observed the Princess madly shovelling food in her mouth with her accelerated speed. He watched the field of food slowly disappear; The garlic potatoes, mayo salad, smoked cod, mac ’n’ cheese, lasagna, croissants, cinnamon cruffins, egg fried rice bowl with honey chilli chicken strips, buttered bread rolls, tuna mayo sweet corn sandwiches, garlic parmesan chicken wings, noodle veggie stir fry, and for dessert pistachio chocolate cannoli, cheesecake, toffee pudding, waffle ice cream sandwich, and chocolate banana crepe.

The purple feline had completely forgotten about her typical Princess manners now that she was away from prying, judgemental eyes. Now that she was just with her friend, she felt like she didn’t have to live up to impossible standards that weighed heavily on her every day. Almost as if she suddenly became aware of her surroundings, she froze. Her eyes moved up to Silver, off to her side, just watching her with a smile. She was hunched over the table. She straightened up and cleared her throat. She took a serviette to her face and wiped her mouth. “Sorry, I- uh- w- would you like some?”

He giggled to himself, “No, I’m alright, thanks. You eat up, you need it. I know that you burn through calories like crazy due to your hyper-metabolism… Oh! Pun.” He pointed out realising he made a joke.

“Yes.” Blaze simply replied smirking.

“I’m getting better at this humour stuff.”

“Eh.” Blaze replied tilting her head and seesawing her hand up and down. “Regardless. I do hope you have eaten something. I would hate for you to just stare on on an empty stomach. I know you forgot to eat sometimes.”

Silver looked away bashfully and sheepishly, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, I ate. I’m full. I’m okay, you just enjoy.” She returned her gaze to the food and returned to eating her gifts, “Did you make all of this on your own?”

“Well, Gardon helped. I was surprised he even allowed me into the kitchen. He supervised, really. He knows I always make a mess. But I guess seeing you go off without having breakfast made him reconsider, and he allowed me to make you all this fancy stuff.”

“All this for me?”

“It's the least I could do for you. You work so hard. And you let me live here. I feel like I'm never doing enough for you. Consider this as a small part of a big never-ending thank you for all that you have done for me.”

“Oh, Silver, you don't have to do anything for me. You're my guest, my friend. I want nothing more from you other than to be by my side and to be yourself with me. Just your presence is wonderful enough.”

“Wow, Blaze, thank you, that's lovely, but it won't stop me from doing things for you like this more often.”

She popped another garlic potato into her mouth, “Heh, I'll allow it.” She stabbed a honey chilli chicken strip onto her fork and presented it to Silver, “But only if we share.”

He put his hands up, “No, I- I'm alright, really.”

“You haven't eaten anything today either, have you?” She could always see right through him. “You're really bad at lying.”

“...Yyyyeah…”

“Silver.”

“It's not a big deal, Jalapeno, I...” Her stare burned a hole through him, he sighed.

“This is not acceptable.” She extended the chicken strip in front of his lips.

He smiled and accepted the gift. While his mouth was still full he spoke, “Hey, this really does taste good! Thank you Amy’s cooking class.”

A knock on the door drew both their focus, “Your majesty?” It was the voice of a familiar koala.

Blaze beckoned the elder koala inside, “Yes, Gardon, I’m in here. You may enter.”

The humble servant entered, clearing his throat, “Your majesty, the meeting about increasing the pension fund is coming up, should we revise over the notes?”

She huffed, “Yes, yes, I... I suppose that is the right-“

“Or-“ he interrupted, “We could reschedule the meeting for later.”

“What?” She looked confused. Realisation crossed her face as he winked. Silver was smiling as well. “Oh... I see, yes, that would be... nice.” She wasn't sure what to sound like.

He replied, “Right then, I shall inform our business advisors about the delay.”

He began to turn away, but Blaze spoke up once more, “Gardon,” he turned back to her, “Thank you.” He simply smiled and nodded.

She felt a nudge against her arm. Blaze turn her gaze to Silver, still smiling. “How are you feeling?”

“Better. Though the inevitable dread of having to return to those conference rooms is always present.” Her expression soured.

“I know that look. You want to punch something.”

Blaze breathed in and out, “Yeah... I do.”

“Well, I think Gardon and I can handle the castle for a little while, while you're gone.” A teal doorway opened up behind him, “There is a horde of time pirates that are rating a treasure pocket dimension for Precious Seconds.”

“I don't know what any of that meant.” Blaze matter-of-factly admitted.

“Just punch them a little.”

“Oh, Silver, you know me too well.” She smirked.

“Enjoy yourself.” He remarked as he began to pick up the empty plates readying to wash them. But Blaze took hold of his wrist and stopped him.

“Only if we share.”
