A lone figure stepped out of the shadows, draped in an embroidered cape. The whispers of life seemed to halt as this being passed by as if it was holding its breath. No fool would have gone within an acre of the slums carrying an ounce of gold. An unfortunate soul tried to snatch the creature's purse, instead falling down to his knees as the very essence of life was sucked out of him seeming to be absorbed by it.
It leisurely strolled along the street ignoring the stench of unwashed flesh until it stopped in front of a small boy. Barely five years of age and looking severely malnourished, he raised his head to look up at the being.
In a voice not from this world it asked "Boy, do you seek salvation?"
