Chapter 1: A Weird Defense

Chapter Text

You entered the school building. Computer science, and you well know Sans teaches it by now. Will he ease up now that Mr. Mountoni suggested he be a tad nicer? Maybe you could go a day without earning detention from him alone.

You sat at your usual seat, separated from other students, but so close to Sans that you could hear him snore. Not that that meant he didn't catch people doing what they shouldn't. One kid got kicked out of class for going to a site that wasn't allowed.

"Turn to page 101." Sans flipped all the pages where they should be. "Anyway, we're going to make a security system. Three per group. Guess that leaves one extra." He looked at you, "One group of four is allowed for that reason."

The students grouped together. The student you knew as Mr. Patterson came up to you, "You know no one else will group with you." "Nope." That was not happening. "And what if I make you?" He shoved you, and you had to grab the table behind you to prevent losing balance. Sans was looking at you two, "You two are not working together." You smiled as the student whined, "But-"

"ENOUGH!" The class became so silent you could hear a pen drop. Sans never yelled. You could see fear come across the target of his wrath's face. Sans went back to a smile rather quickly, though it wasn't quite as genuine, "Go to the principal." If the class wasn't silent before, they would be now. Sans sent someone to the principal, that hasn't happened before. "But, sir. It's Y/N." "So?" "Everyone knows you pick on her."

The students looked at each other. No one wanted to say anything, but everyone saw how Sans ignored minor stuff they did, but you couldn't get away with it. "I do not get on Y/N without reason." Without reason were the keywords here. "Everyone knows you can come up with whatever bullshit reason you want!" "'Scuse me." "A pen drops, oh it's suddenly torn apart. Tray in hands, and flew across the room, what student can throw that far? I seen Y/N throw, and they honestly would be better at getting an A in science, even with you as a teacher." "They have an A in science." Sans mumbled. "You mean you grade fairly? At least that's something you can manage." "Didn't I tell you to go to the office?" "Fine, but don't think we don't see it." The boy slammed his door on the way out.

Sans blinked, "Anyways three per a group." You just let the other students group first before joining the group with two. The two girls looked at each other, "Just stay quiet." One whispered, "Don't need him coming for us." The other nodded. You stayed quiet.

"Take a seat." Sans commanded your class, "Stay with your groups, grab your textbook." You all were given the basics of your assignment, and Sans went to his desk to sleep. At least his snoring wasn't practically in your ear now. You had an idea, "Want to make a security system even Sans can't crack?" You knew these two students didn't like Sans, you didn't really know each other, but you all had one thing in common, a shared hatred of Sans.

The girls smiled. "After his running punishment a week ago." And the other continued, "And his paddlings for fighting. Should have finished the job." They both started speaking, "Of course." "Moha." The blond shook your hand. The other stuck out hers, "Saffi. Of course we know yours." You nodded, "Be hard not to as much as Sans says it."

You all looked at your page. "We'll need a failsafe." You state, "Especially if I'm in the group." Moha looked at her textbook, "Good to have too. Sans shouldn't be able to get into this." You all started working on the project. "How long do we have to do this?" Saffi asked and Sans automatically answered, "A month." The class was used to that by now, so no one was bothered Sans answered in his sleep.

It was getting close to the end of class as you all had the first part of your security system, and a plan to say it was to stop people from getting credit card information. After all, those have to be strict. The first part just requires a password. That part would be easy to break into, you knew, same for the usual email verification. You all communicated with looks that you wanted Sans to think yours was easy to break into at first.

You all packed your things. "Want to meet up at lunch?" You ask, too many stares. Moha frowned, "I would but I have lunch detention." Moha whispered in your ear, "Sans caught me cheating on his science test. I think a 0 drove the point home, but now he has to add detention to it." Saffi nodded, "Yeah, he is nice until you piss him off. Then he's a dick." Sans teleported in front of you, "Let's see here, he looked at your system. Easy." Saffi frowned, "You said we have a month." "Yep. Wouldn't want to be a lying dick." "Yeah be a shame." "At least I'm not a dirty cheater." Sans shortcutted back to his desk. Saffi complained, "I hate it when he does that." You nodded, that was an absolute pain to manage.

The bell rang and you all gathered your stuff, and walked towards the door, only for it to shut in front of you. "You want a system I can't break into?" You three nodded. "Heh. That'll be impressive. So who's cheating to cause that?" Moha glared at him, "I learned my lesson okay?" "I hope. A month is plenty of time." "Why can't you make it after school like a normal person?" Sans opened the door and pushed you and Saffi out, before shutting the door.

Saffi led you away from the door. "We aren't the only ones to pick up on Sans tendencies. She tried cheating because she figured it'd go ignored. You have your test tomorrow, don't cheat." "I didn't plan to." You didn't want to give Sans the satisfaction, and one of your detentions combined with Sans' complaints about your science grades, was two hours of explaining what he taught that week, and being told to start over if you made a mistake. It actually helped you get your C up to an A.

"I should get to class." "Yeah me too." You both went your separate ways. You were now in English with Mr. Telope. He did let you sit where you wanted, and wasn't harsh as the other teachers. He closed the door. "Okay, last class I assigned you two pages." Yes, writing about what you loved or hated about the first day of school. "Get that out." You went to get yours out, but didn't have it. What the- "Where's yours?" Your teacher asked you. "I don't have it, sir." But you knew who may. "I'll just add a lunch detention then. Only because I saw you writing yours." He frowned while looking at your binder, "You are usually organized. I'll have to mark it down a letter grade for lateness." "Yes, sir."

After class you had third period, which was an elective. Today was mostly electives. You were taking astronomy. You liked learning about the stars. You were working on a poster of your favorite constellation. You had been all week.

You went to your now given lunch detention, and Sans was holding two pages. That better not be! "Kiddo, you dropped something." You snatched the papers back, and looked at them, yep, it was your English assignment. "And how did you just happen to be the one to have that?" A voice behind you spoke. "Strange, especially with the class after yours."

"You know my schedule?" You turned around asking Mr. Mountoni who was escorting Moha. "I do thanks to my check." "I'm just giving the kid what they dropped." "Get into the classroom now." Mr. Mountoni said in no uncertain terms, so you two ran into the room. The door shut.
