Work Text:

If you were to mention Jungkook and Taehyung in front of their friends or even family, they’d all probably imitate to throw up.

Because they’re that couple. That disgustingly, annoyingly sweet couple who agrees on everything – but even if they don’t, they never argue or fight, they just sit down for a talk. They don’t care how long that talk takes. Sometimes they finish it up within a few minutes, sometimes it takes all night. However, their only priority is always to understand the other’s point and talk it out. Their communication is flawless. Always has been.

They’ve been together for almost six years, high school, then college sweethearts – now soon-to-be husbands.

They always dreamt about finishing college, then getting jobs which can provide them with a comfortable lifestyle, and getting married before adopting a kid or two.

Two of those are already ticked – graduating and finding well-paying jobs that they even love.

Now only a few steps are waiting ahead of them in life.

Everything is so perfect.

……………

„You’re late, again,” Taehyung sighs, crossing his arms in front of his chest. „Why?” he questions his boyfriend, who doesn’t even look into his eyes. „At least look at me, Jungkook!” he whisper-yells, not forgetting about their surroundings by sitting in the middle of a restaurant.

„I just had something to do real quick. I’m sorry, hyung,” he smiles softly but Taehyung knows his boy. He knows very well whether his smile is genuine or fake.

„What was so important to do that it couldn’t wait until our date was over, huh?” Taehyung can see a glimpse of regret flickering in Jungkook’s eyes before he collects himself again and looks at him with a grin on his face.

„You never liked surprises, did you?” he giggles, making Taehyung frown. Jungkook then pulls a red velvet box from his jacket’s pocket and hands it over. Taehyung quickly opened it, gasping at the sight of the golden necklace he was eyeing a few days ago when they went shopping.

„Baby…” he murmurs, but Jungkook shrugs his shoulders because he knows Taehyung would most probably just say something dumb like „You didn’t have to”.

But Jungkook had to. He knows he had to.

The only problem is, that Taehyung went back to the jewelry shop earlier that day to check the price of the necklace. He wanted to buy it for himself as an early birthday gift.

Nonetheless, the shop was closed due to restocking – Jungkook couldn’t buy this necklace right before their date if the shop was closed. And Taehyung hates it when someone lies to him. Especially if it’s his own boyfriend.

………………

„How was work today, baby?” Taehyung asks, giving Jungkook’s stiff shoulders a little pleasure by massaging them while the other still stares at his laptop.

„Good,” he answers. „Had a little disagreement with one of my colleagues but other than that, it was good,”

„What happened?” Taehyung worries, not liking the idea of his baby getting into an argument with someone else.

„He just wanted to snatch away my class” he rolls his eyes. „Stating that I’m too young to be a form master.”

„Well, he’s an idiot then. You’re the best, baby,” he pecks Jungkook’s forehead from behind, staying like that for a second before Jungkook's phone rings and he’s faster than light with picking it up and leaving the room.

Taehyung looks after him, confused. They never ever left the room or anything when calling. They even always put the phone on speaker mode because they can still cuddle or anything. Taehyung doesn’t understand the sudden change.

But that’s not the only thing stressing him out right now. He takes a good look at Jungkook’s posture, and how nervous he looks. They lock eyes for a mere second before Jungkook closes their bedroom door and the older can’t help but snort.

Jungkook comes out a few minutes later, drops of sweat shining on his forehead, fingers shaking slightly as he looks for something in a hurry.

„Who was that?” Taehyung asks in a calm tone trying to see if there’s a problem. Jungkook doesn’t answer, doesn’t even spare a glance at the other. „Hello! I’m talking to you!” he grabs the younger’s arm, stopping him.

Jungkook looked at him, wiping his eyes to get rid of the unshed tears quickly before Taehyung could notice – but it didn’t work.

„Baby, talk to me. What happened? Is it about one of your friends? Is it about your mother?” Taehyung talks softly, making sure to not scare the younger while caressing his wrist.

„Let go, Tae,” he mumbles. „Please,”

„Baby,” Taehyung breathes out, not believing his ears. „What the fuck is going on, seriously?”

„Please…” Jungkook whispers, looking down at his feet. Taehyung lets go of his wrist finally and Jungkook quickly picks up his car keys before turning around to get his shoes on.

„Are you seriously going to leave like this? Where are you even going?” the older still hasn’t raised his voice, however, he really tries his best to control his anger. His boyfriend doesn’t communicate with him and it drives him crazy. He’s not used to being pushed to the side.

„I’m sorry, I’ll explain everything later,” Jungkook says before moving away and leaving the house.

Taehyung stands there dumbfounded, unable to move for minutes before deciding to leave the house as well.

He didn’t expect to see Jungkook’s car parking at the end of their street though.

Taehyung doesn’t hesitate to start walking towards the car. He wants to know what’s going on. He knows people sometimes need private space, but no, their space is the same. They don’t need space without each other.

Taehyung stays still for a second when he notices Jungkook punching the steering wheel before quickly opening his door and pulling him out of the car.

Jungkook can’t even comprehend what is happening but he knows those arms wrapped around his waist very well. Jungkook breaks apart in his boyfriend’s hold who has no idea what to do or say to comfort his love.

„I have no idea what has been going on in the past few weeks, Jungkook. I… if you don’t want to, don’t tell me, but don’t run away in the middle of your breakdown. I’m here to hold you, okay? I’m here with you, in every good and every bad thing. Let me help you, please, baby. It hurts so much seeing how you keep something so painful to yourself,” Taehyung pleases. Jungkook cries in his arms, clutching his shirt for dear life but no words come out of his mouth.

They stay there, standing in the middle of their street next to their car, hugging, while Taehyung listens to his boyfriend’s crying – breaking his heart.

…………

„He’s been so distant lately, Jimin. I have no idea what is going on, honestly. He has never acted this way before,” Taehyung explains, taking a sip of his wine.

„Is everything okay with his family?” Jimin asks.

„Yes, we visited them last weekend. He went away for like an hour-long talk with his father but his mother assured me that everything’s fine with them,” Taehyung sighs. „I don’t know anymore, does he not love me the same?” he whines, running out of ideas but his question only makes Jimin giggle.

„Can’t even imagine that, you two are gross,” he grimaces, making his best friend kick his ankle under the table. „Auch,”

„Then what the hell is happening? Our anniversary is coming up, I wanted to propose this year, but how shall I do it now?”

„What even is that question, dummy? Couples can have ups and downs, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you two don’t want to be together forever… or whatever you always said back in high school,” Jimin mumbles the last part while rolling his eyes.

„Still, Jimin. You don’t see it because you’re not spending that much time with us nowadays, but he visibly became much more distant. Not to mention how he hides his phone always, doesn’t let me use his laptop, and comes home late from work. This is messing me up so bad,” his face falls more and more with each word, causing Jimin to slide closer to his friend and wrap his arm around his shoulder.

„I believe you, Tae. It’s not about that, but I know how much he loves you. Jungkook loves you endlessly and would never do something intentionally to hurt you. He may have something going on behind your back but I’m sure it wouldn’t cause any harm to your relationship. You two are perfect, a match made in heaven, so please stop being sad about this. He loves you, you love him. There was never a problem between you two that could make you question your relationship so don’t let this do it this time either. Have some faith in yourselves, and do not overthink.”

Taehyung doesn’t answer his friend, he lets the words sink in before letting a tear slip down on his face.

He knows he loves the younger, and he’s sure that it’s reciprocated. Maybe the stress about his proposal is messing with his head and that’s why he’s a little oversensitive. Maybe Jungkook has a decent explanation, he’s just not ready to share it with him yet.

Taehyung decides that it’ll be for the best if he lets go of his insecure thoughts before they get out of his control and has some faith in themselves.

However, it proved to be kind of difficult when Jungkook did everything badly for the following weeks.

He comes home late every night, exhausted, jumping into bed instantly to sleep.

He hides his phone, and doesn’t even let Taehyung close to it – neither to his laptop.

He sometimes skips work, which Taehyung found out accidentally by finding his boyfriend’s paycheck.

He’s late to their date nights, sometimes even missing them.

Yet Taehyung chose to endure it. He tries to talk. He tried so many times it’s getting ridiculous at this point.

Jungkook doesn’t budge, he doesn’t say anything and doesn’t explain anything to the older. And even though this happens, Taehyung still hugs him close at night when Jungkook cries himself to sleep.

Taehyung still does his laundry and cooks his favorite dish every Sunday, sometimes even on other days because he can see his Jungkook losing weight daily.

Jungkook smiles at him in the mornings, kissing him with so much love, only to disappear for the whole day following and Taehyung’s head is a mess by this contrast.

Still, he loves him. He waits. Waits for the explanation which he may never get.

……………

Taehyung is excited. Very nervous, but excited.

Today is their sixth year anniversary. Taehyung does not doubt that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Jungkook. He is the only person he can imagine his future with.

He already wanted to propose when they’ve only been together for three years but Jimin suggested that maybe a promise ring would be better first, to not scare the younger off who was always scared of commitment and often had insecure thoughts.

Then life got a little hectic, and last year they couldn’t even celebrate their anniversary properly since the younger had to go on a school trip and got back home the day after their special day. Taehyung understood it, didn’t cause a fuss about it, just placed the ring back in his drawer, waiting one more year patiently to do it.

The previous months weren’t flawless. Taehyung felt unsure about his plans but always wanted to propose on their special day. He loved anniversaries. He looks more forward to this day than to his own birthday.

He felt giddy on the inside, setting up everything perfectly, checking himself out one last time before leaving the house.

Jungkook had to leave a few hours ago, being oh so mysterious again but at least he didn’t forget about today and already wished Taehyung a happy anniversary.

The older was getting more and more anxious as he finally arrived at the reserved spot.

He reserved the whole balcony of the famous Silver Dreams restaurant, one of the most elite and famous restaurants in Seoul. He wanted to show off today, make it extra special, especially now that their relationship is struggling a little.

He arrives on the balcony, is welcomed by a nice waitress who will provide them everything through the night.

Taehyung takes a seat, looking at his watch to check the time. Almost six p.m. The date was set to six. Precisely, six.

6:10 p.m. – Taehyung stares at his watch, then down the street looking for his boyfriend’s car somewhere nearby but it’s nowhere to be seen. Maybe the traffic is bad.

6:35 p.m. – Taehyung starts fidgeting with his fingers as he bites on his lip. He can’t believe he’s being stood up. Stood up by his boyfriend, on their anniversary.

7:10 p.m. – Taehyung places the little box which has the ring inside of it on the table, in front of Jungkook’s seat, and stands up, ready to leave.

He had enough.

„Taehyung!” Jungkook suddenly comes through the door of the balcony, running towards him with red eyes and tear-stained face but Taehyung doesn’t seem to register that now. „Fuck, I’m so sorry, hyung. Please don’t leave, I’m here, we can have our dinner,” he grabs Taehyung’s hand, gripping it but Taehyung doesn’t move. His face is expressionless, you can’t tell how he feels right now.

„Let go, Jungkook,” he whispers, looking away from his boyfriend. He can’t do this now. He knows it won’t end well if he stays.

„No, hyung… I can explain, really. I didn’t want to be late, please, hyung!” Jungkook begs, but his words only make Taehyung snort.

„Explain? Don’t you think you’re a little late for that?” he asks mockingly, wresting his hands out of the other’s hold. „I’m so done with this whole bullshit, Jungkook. I endured it, I think I did pretty well dealing with you in the past few months although I have no idea what the hell is going on. You always talked to me so I have no fucking idea what went wrong, but something definitely did. I didn’t say shit when you hadn’t come home on time and when you had kept hiding your phone and laptop. I don’t know what kind of sneaky thing you have going on behind my back but I don’t care anymore. I tried to forget every one of those for tonight, I wanted to propose!” he yells, making the younger flinch.

„I’m so sorry, hyung,” he sniffs, knees wobbling. He didn’t want this.

„I didn’t expect you to do this. Not tonight, Jungkook. You know how much it means to me. Especially after these awful months behind our backs. We could’ve solved everything tonight… only if you cared enough to not show up more than an hour late.” he scoffs, looking around before letting out a deep sigh.

„You’ll be better off without me,” Jungkook murmurs suddenly, after a few seconds of silence. Taehyung freezes, and his jaw almost hits the floor, trying to comprehend what his boyfriend just said.

„You can’t be serious now, Jungkook,” he breathes out, pushing on the younger’s chest out of anger. Not too harsh, but enough to make him stumble back. Jungkook looks at him, tears rolling down his face without a break, lips wobbling uncontrollably.

„I’m so sorry, hyung,” he cries, wrapping his arms around himself. „I hope you can forgive me one day. Please, please be happy, hyung,” he says, moving a little closer to Taehyung who also has tears coming down his face at this point. „I’ll make sure you understand all of this one day, hyung. But for now, please just be happy without me,” he begs, wrapping his arms around Taehyung’s neck one last time.

„Jungkook…” Taehyung mumbles, cupping Jungkook’s face between his hands.

„Leave, Taehyung,” Jungkook states coldly, getting his head out of Taehyung’s hands. „Leave.”

„I don’t want to,” the older whispers and Jungkook almost whines loudly before stepping behind Taehyung and pushing him towards the door.

„Leave. Please. I… I don’t want to be with you anymore,” he mutters and Taehyung can feel his heart breaking hearing those words. He can’t even understand what those words mean. But he knows one thing, he doesn’t want to hear them, never again.

So Taehyung leaves, he leaves without looking back. Leaves, without seeing how Jungkook fell on his knees, crying out in silence before collecting himself and leaving the balcony as well, only after he placed the ring on his finger.

……………

Taehyung never felt number in his life than he does right now, sitting on Jimin’s couch, staring blankly at the wall in front of him. It’s been two weeks since he’s been doing this. He even told his boss that he was sick – hell, he even paid his doctor to order him out of work for weeks.

He doesn’t want to leave the house, he doesn’t want to meet people, fearing he may bump into Jungkook. He wouldn’t be able to deal with seeing the younger once again.

He even asked Jimin to go to their house for his stuff. His friend protested, though, thinking that if Taehyung went back, they could talk again and maybe solve everything.

Even Jimin felt numb because of their break-up. Was it even a break-up?

„Do you need anything? A cup of tea maybe?” Jimin asks, gently stroking the other’s shoulder.

„A bottle of whiskey would be better,” he answers, his voice is monotone and Jimin feels his heart breaking. He never thought he would see his friend in such a state. He can’t bear seeing Taehyung so broken, so empty.

„That won’t solve anything, Tae,” he sighs before pulling Taehyung closer and making him place his head on his lap, caressing his hair carefully. Taehyung shuts his eyes tightly, trying not to remember how just a few weeks ago he rested his head on Jungkook’s lap the same way, enjoying his love’s soft and gentle touch.

„Did you get the remaining of my stuff?” Taehyung’s voice is quiet as if he himself didn’t want to hear this question at all.

„Yes,” Jimin whispers, his lips forming a thin line. „He was home this time,” he comments, making Taehyung’s eyes pop open suddenly.

„How is he?” he asks, thinking that Jungkook may live his best life now that he’s out of the picture.

„Do you want to hear the honest answer?” Taehyung only nods, mentally preparing himself already to hear what he has just imagined. „Like hell. I think he’s even worse than you, which is… interesting to say.”

„Why did he break up with me then?” Taehyung cries, letting the first tear fall off his face. „Why did he do this to me? To himself? To us?”

„I seriously have no idea, Taehyung. But he isn’t any better than you. I… don’t know what’s going on. I tried to confront him but he just started crying and locked himself in your room. I called Seokjin to look after him because something feels off with this whole situation,” he explains, sighing deeply. Jimin can’t get the image of the crying, broken Jungkook who’s clutching onto one of Taehyung’s leftover hoodies for dear life out of his head. Something doesn’t sit right with this break-up thing but he doesn’t have any idea how to figure all of this out on his own.

„I don’t want to see him again, Jimin. I… I have no idea what did I wrong but as far as I know, nothing. He was the one who decided to be fucking mysterious out of nowhere, hiding and keeping secrets from me. One moment, everything was perfect, then everything was falling apart in front of my eyes. If he wants to explain and get clean, I’ll listen to him. But I don’t think it’s my duty now to run after him this time… no matter how much I want to or how badly it hurts,” Taehyung explains, sitting up correctly. „Thank you for picking up my stuff. I’ll go to my room now,”

„Just call me if you need anything,” Jimin smiles, letting Taehyung go, respecting that he needs space and time on his own as well.

However, Jimin still can’t get Jungkook’s broken state out of his head. He picks up his phone, goes out to his balcony, and dials Seokjin’s number in no time after making sure that Taehyung is nowhere near.

„Hey, Jimin. How can I help you?” Seokjin asks, voice quiet and Jimin supposes he’s probably still at Jungkook’s place.

They aren’t really close, but Jimin would consider him a friend. All of them became a big friend group throughout the years Taehyung and Jungkook have been dating.

„Are you still with Jungkook?” he asks, and can hear Seokjin hum. „How is he?”

„He just fell asleep, finally. I think it’s only because he’s been crying so much but at least he sleeps,” Seokjin sighs and Jimin can hear some shuffling, most likely Jin leaving the room as well to be able to talk normally. „I don’t know what happened if you called me because of that, but I also want to figure it out. I talked with the others, and none of us can believe Jungkook’s stupid excuse. He loves Taehyung, he wouldn’t be a mess without him now if he didn’t love him.”

„I know. I just… I have no idea, seriously. What the fuck could make Jungkook act like this and then break up?” he scoffs.

„I don’t know, Jimin. I’ll try my best to find the answers and also send Jungkook back to Taehyung. They’ll die alone if they don’t reconcile,” he chuckles lightly, unable to picture any of them next to someone else. Impossible.

„I’ll also try to dig into this a little deeper but Taehyung isn’t really talkative these days. The good news is, he said he would hear out Jungkook anytime if he came.”

„He won’t. Not until one of us gets to know the truth and makes him go. I’ll try. I don’t want their relationship to end like this either,” Seokjin sighs. „I have to go now. I want to make some soup for him by the time he wakes up,” he says, hanging up after they said their goodbyes.

……………

Jimin actually tried his hardest to find out the truth. He did everything he could, but nothing. His only hope was for Jin to get it out of Jungkook several months later.

Jin always assured Jimin that they were on the same page – both of them wanted the two boys to talk and get back together after solving their problems.

Jimin believed him. He was on the phone with the older almost every night, creating silly theories so that he could tell them to Jungkook, waiting for some reaction that would lead them to the truth.

Until one night when Jin didn’t pick up his phone. He didn’t read Jimin’s texts either. He didn’t pick up the call the next day also.

He hasn’t answered Jimin in any way ever since then, for almost two months now.

Jimin was pissed. He thought their priority right then was to understand what the hell had happened to Jungkook and what made him act and think that way. What made him let go of Taehyung?

Jimin could swear on everything that Jin found out the truth and that’s why suddenly ghosted him…

„Where are you going?” he asks Taehyung, who’s getting dressed up. A weird sight to see since he hasn’t really been going out these days.

„I’m going to meet an old friend,” he sighs, picking up his shoes. „We’re going skating,” he says, only to earn a scoff back from his friend. „I know what you think. I’ll be fine, don’t worry,”

Jimin believed Taehyung he’d be fine, however, he knew very well that his friend wouldn’t be.

Jimin knows almost every little detail of their relationship – so he also knows how Taehyung asked Jungkook to be his boyfriend officially after they went skating one time back in high school.

And Jimin was right.

Taehyung comes back home not even two hours later, hair messy and unshed tears in his eyes, going straight to Jimin for a hug.

Taehyung thought, he really thought he could put Jungkook and their shared memories out of his mind for a few hours. Guess what? He couldn’t.

It was going fine, until Taehyung suddenly stumbled back and fell on his butt, his friend chuckling at him – which wouldn’t be a problem, only if it hasn’t reminded him of how Jungkook always caught him right in time before he could fall.

Unfortunately this time, the younger wasn’t there to catch him when he was falling.

Taehyung once again cried himself to sleep that night. These nights stopped a few weeks ago since it’s almost been six months since their breakup. He’s passed the stage of sadness and denial, he just feels so incomplete and empty without Jungkook by his side now.

„I’ll start looking for an apartment tomorrow,” Taehyung suddenly says while having dinner, making Jimin almost drop his chopsticks.

„You can stay as long as you want, Tae. I’m happy you’re here,” he answers, reassuring his friend that he is no burden in this house.

„You already did so much for me, Jimin. I’m very thankful to you but maybe it’s time to actually move on and start a new life,” he sighs. „I’m doing better now, mentally, I just… I know I’ll need a lot of time to forget about him. I never thought I’d have to move on from him one day,” he frowns, chuckling sadly.

„I’m so sorry this happened to you, I wish I could help,” Jimin adds, but Taehyung only shakes his head.

„You helped enough,” he smiles softly, appreciating his friend’s help and support from the bottom of his heart. „I hope he’s fine, though. Gosh, I should hate him, but I can’t. I’m still a little mad but I can’t wish him anything but good things and happiness. Pathetic, isn’t it?”

„No, it’s called maturity. You have so many good memories together, spent years of your life with him, it’s okay to feel this way,” he smiles.

……………

It’s been exactly seven months and twelve days since Taehyung hasn’t seen Jungkook. Not like he’s counting or anything.

Taehyung is doing better now, he started searching for apartments, trying to move out of Jimin’s house, and trying to move on from Jungkook officially. He kind of just accepted what happened. The only thing bothering him is still that he didn’t get a proper explanation. He was just left hanging in the dark.

He tries to forget, though. He’s getting dressed right now, preparing for his night out with his friends. It’s only 5 p.m. but they decided to have dinner together somewhere before going to a club for the night.

„Are you sure you aren’t coming?” Taehyung asks Jimin, trying to make his friend come with him. It’s been a while since Jimin was out and he knows that.

„I’m not in the mood now. I may go after you later, okay?”

„You won’t,” he giggles, knowing damn well that Jimin will probably take a shower and then a long nap after he leaves the house. „Next time?”

„Sure,” he yawns, whining when he hears a few knocks on his door. „Did you invite your friends here?”

„No, I don’t know who that can be,” Taehyung shrugs and Jimin stands up from the couch, opening the door.

Jimin freezes, his eyes almost fall out as he stares at the two people standing in front of his door.

„Hello, Jimin. Is Taehyung here?” Seokjin asks, scratching the back of his head.

„What the fuck?” Jimin murmurs, still can’t believe his eyes. „What?”

„Please,” Jungkook talks, voice powerless breaking Jimin’s heart a little, because he has never seen Jungkook looking so… bad.

Taehyung hops off the stairs, unaware of what’s going on at the door.

„Hey, Jimin! Who was it?” he asks, stepping closer but his mouth runs dry when he realizes who is standing there. „What?” he breathes out, eyeing Jungkook up and down, noticing how slim and pale the younger is. „What are you doing here?”

„I’ll explain everything, just please, for the last time, can I take you out for dinner?” Jungkook asks, fidgeting nervously with his fingers. Both Jimin and Taehyung’s jaws drop open, trying to understand what the actual hell is going on right now.

„What? Why?” Taehyung questions confusedly, staring at the younger’s slim figure. „What if I say no?”

„You’ll regret it,” Seokjin interferes, earning an ugly look from Jimin. „We’ll talk later,” he points at Jimin with an apologetic look, who’s just standing there speechless. He doesn’t understand what’s going on. „Please, Taehyung,” he pleads, and Taehyung can notice his eyes are getting teary. Something feels off.

„Fine,” he sighs. „Jimin, can you please text Hyungwoo that I can’t go?” he turns to Jimin who finally snaps back to reality.

„Are you seriously going with them?” Taehyung only nods. „I… fine. It’s your decision, but please take care. I’ll text Hyungwoo but you also text me if you need anything, all right?” he hugs Taehyung and can feel him trembling a little. „Take care, please!” he whispers into Taehyung’s ear, letting go of him a few seconds later.

„Thank you,” Seokjin bows, a sad smile displayed on his face as he leaves Jimin’s yard towards his car, motioning Taehyung to take a seat inside.

Taehyung takes the front seat, while Jungkook slips in the back, Jin driving. The drive is silent, all of them feel a little awkward and also very tense.

Taehyung never expected that his night would end like this. This was the first night since their break up that he decided to go out, drink and just have some fun with his friends, forgetting about Jungkook.

Well, he almost made it, except he has to spend his night with Jungkook now.

He can’t even imagine what made the younger suddenly show up in front of Jimin’s house, looking for him and also inviting him out for dinner. This is just way too unbelievable. He feels like he’s being played and he doesn’t like this feeling at all.

He spent months crying over the boy sitting in the back right now. He spent many sleepless nights, only crying into his pillows until no more tears came out, passing out from the tiredness.

He feels like an idiot sitting in the car now, regretting his decision in an instant.

„Where are we even going?” he asks suddenly. „Are you coming as well or just being our personal driver for the night?” he mocks a little, not realizing his words can be pretty hurtful – but honestly, even if he noticed, he has the right.

„I’m coming, too. Jungkook will explain everything once we arrive,” Seokjin answers, however, Taehyung would rather have heard the younger’s voice. He can’t deny the fact of how much he has missed him, no matter how much he tried to hate and erase him from his mind.

„Is this some kind of sick joke?” Taehyung snorts as he notices which restaurant they’re parking in front of now. Silver Dreams. „Are you having fun back there?” he turns around to face Jungkook when Jin finally parks the car, letting out a big sigh. Jungkook doesn’t look at him though, only staring down at his feet, avoiding Taehyung’s gaze at all costs. „Wonderful.”

„I understand your anger, Taehyung, but please,” Seokjin begs, voice unstable as he gets out of the car, leaving a very confused Taehyung behind after Jungkook also got out.

They enter the restaurant and Taehyung has to physically stop himself from grunting when a waitress comes for them and leads them to the balcony.

He can’t believe this whole situation. He doesn’t know what kind of sick game Jungkook is playing but it’s getting out of control. Taehyung feels suffocated, he feels like drowning.

They all sit down around the circled table, trying to get comfortable – which proved quickly that it’s impossible.

They spend a few – very long – minutes in silence, the youngest probably collecting his thoughts while Taehyung is staring at him with intense eyes, almost burning a hole in his forehead with his gaze.

„Does anybody want to tell me why was I dragged here tonight?” Taehyung asks, impatient. He always wondered how meeting Jungkook would feel like but he feels like an idiot right now.

„Don’t you want to have dinner first?” the younger asks, only to earn a scoff from Taehyung. „Guess not, then.”

„No, Jungkook, I don’t really have my appetite right now. This is the first time I see you after… after that night. I want to know why I’m here tonight, but if you don’t tell me, I’ll take my leave now.” he says and when the younger doesn’t respond he stands up.

„Sit down,” Jin’s strict voice can be heard, not even looking at Taehyung. „And you,” he looks at Jungkook. „Start talking, Kook.”

„Can you listen to me before you say anything, please?” he asks after Taehyung sat back down.

„Yeah,” he answers, suddenly feeling nervous as hell. He’s about the find out the truth. The truth and the actual reason why his relationship of six years went off.

„Do you remember when my stomach hurt so much I couldn’t sleep for the whole night?” he asks, Taehyung nods although it’s been more than a year. „I went to the doctor the next day. He told me it was nothing serious, just some kind of inflammation. I believed it. However, the pain hadn’t stopped and you know it. A few weeks later I went again to check if it was really just something small. The doctor sent me to the hospital to see a hematologist, who even before saying anything, sent me to an oncologist. I hadn’t got the results then, I had to go back that night when I gave you the necklace,” he starts explaining, his eyes shifting to Taehyung’s fingers which hold the necklace now on his neck. Jungkook smiles softly, he’s glad Taehyung still has it.

„And?” Taehyung questions, his heart almost jumping out of his chest. He never even thought about Jungkook having some serious health issues or anything like that at all.

„I just needed to take a few more tests that night. Do you remember when I ran off and you came after me? When I was in my car at the end of our street,” Taehyung, once again, nods. He remembers even the smallest details of their time spent together. „That was the oncologist calling me that afternoon. She told me she had my results and I should go to see her soon. I wanted to know, though, so I asked her to tell me through the phone. She told me I had a benign tumor in my stomach,” Jungkook mumbles the last sentence, looking up at Taehyung. „And although it’s benign, my system wasn’t prepared to handle this kind of disease and it had to be treated as a malignant one.”

Taehyung just stares at him, speechless. He feels like someone pulled the land out under his feet and he’s just falling. He doesn’t understand what Jungkook is talking about.

His healthy, gym-addicted boy had a benign tumor? His young, hard-working, handsome boy had a tumor and he didn’t know about it?

„When I went home late or skipped work, it was because I was in the hospital, receiving my treatments. I always hid my phone and laptop so you wouldn’t get to know about it. I just knew how much it would’ve hurt you and I didn’t want to. I thought it’d be over in a few weeks and everything could go back to normal. I didn’t tell about it to anyone,” he explains, Seokjin glaring at him with a sad look, lips pressed into a thin line.

„It’s over now, right? You’re fine, aren’t you? You called me here to explain it all so that I can understand and forgive, right?” Taehyung asks in a worry but when he notices Seokjin looking away and Jungkook hanging his head down, he knows he’s not right.

„I’m really sorry for everything I’ve put you through, Taehyung. You… I wasn’t the one to deserve you. I loved you so much and I still hurt you. You deserved so much better, and I’ll never forgive myself for treating you like that. I know I should’ve told you, I know now. But I just couldn’t. I wanted to make it alone and once it was over, I would’ve told you… it was just becoming way too much. I’m so sorry, hyung,” the youngest sniffs.

„So it’s over now, right? That’s why we’re here, to celebrate?” Taehyung asks, voice kind of hopeful and desperate that Jungkook is healthy again, only to see him shaking his head.

„I have surgery tomorrow. It has a 50-50 chance of survival. I wanted to spend my possible last night with the two most important people in my life, my best friend and my love,”

„Can you please stop referring to it as your last night?” Seokjin mutters through his teeth, a little upset because he’s been listening to Jungkook saying that bullshit quite a few times already.

„It can be, though,” Jungkook whispers. „You can be mad at me, you have every right to do so. It’s probably not fair for me to ask, but can you spend this night with me, please?” he turns to Taehyung, who can’t find the words to say. His mind is a mess, he can only hear Jungkook’s voice saying those few words – his last night.

„This won’t be your last night, baby,” Taehyung talks softly, not even noticing how the nickname has slipped out. Jungkook had to bite on his lip to not start crying immediately, only to be engulfed in a hug not so long after when Taehyung scooted closer and took the seat next to him.

„I’m so sorry for everything, hyung,” Jungkook cries, wrapping his arms tightly around Taehyung’s neck, inhaling his favorite scent again. „I know you think I was really dumb for not telling you this, I just… I just thought it’d be over soon,” he sniffs, tears soaking Taehyung’s shirt.

„It’s fine. We can talk about it later, baby,” Taehyung whispers.

„But what if I don’t-” he starts but Taehyung is quick to push him away a little, cupping his face between his hands.

„Don’t ever say it again, I’m begging you, Jungkook. You will. You’ll be fine. The surgery will be successful and you’ll be fine and healthy again, and when that happens we can talk and solve our problems,” Taehyung interferes, his gaze shifting to Jungkook’s hand which he’s using to wipe off his tears now. „Is that…?”

„Yes,” the younger murmurs, hiding his hand in a hurry but Taehyung is faster, catching his wrist.

„Gosh, Jungkook. Why did you push me away?” he whispers, staring at the ringer that circles around his finger proudly. „I could’ve been there for you, baby. I could’ve helped you through this,” he shakes his head, placing a soft peck on Jungkook’s ring finger before wiping off his own tears.

„I’m sorry, for everything.”

„We’ll talk later, okay?” Taehyung smiles and Jungkook only nods before nuzzling his face back into the crock of Taehyung’s neck.

„Thank you for staying and hearing him out,” Seokjin suddenly talks, breaking their own little bubble. However, Taehyung doesn’t let Jungkook pull away, he keeps him close, arm wrapped around his waist tightly.

„Since when do you know about this, though?” Taehyung asks, his tone is a little annoyed. He would have expected Seokjin to tell him.

„For like two months now,” he answers calmly, not trying to piss off Taehyung more. „I found out accidentally, though. Heard him on the phone with his mom, talking about some medicines and I just didn’t leave him alone until he spits out the truth.”

„I asked him not to tell you. I felt ashamed by then,” Jungkook mumbles.

„Gosh… I… Fuck,” Taehyung tries to form a correct sentence but it’s almost impossible now. His whole head is a mess, he doesn’t know what to do or say. He feels broken, empty, worried.

He looks at Jungkook and caresses his face with his fingers carefully. A picture of a life without Jungkook flashes before his eyes. He can’t. He doesn’t even want to think about that. The surgery will be successful.

„We’ll talk later, won’t we?” Jungkook smiles, but it’s not really genuine. However, Seokjin needs to hold back a gasp because he hasn’t heard Jungkook talking about anything that could happen after his surgery for weeks now.

„Yes, baby, we will,” Taehyung sighs, pecking Jungkook’s forehead as he lets him rest his head on his shoulder.

They decide to not talk about Jungkook’s illness or their messed up break-up for the rest of the night. They just act like how they would’ve acted like a year ago – when everything was perfect.

………………

„Taehyung!” Jungkook’s mother gasps as he notices the boy standing next to her son, tears forming in her eyes instantly. „I’m so happy you’re here,” she mumbles as she hurries over to them to engulf Taehyung in a hug.

Jungkook doesn’t even utter a single word as he holds onto Taehyung’s hand for dear life. He hasn’t let go of his hand ever since probably last night.

Jungkook still feels an ounce of shame for not informing Taehyung earlier but as days passed by after their break up, he felt more and more embarrassed and ashamed to do so.

That was until his doctor told him about this surgery. The surgery can either save or end his life. Jungkook never felt more scared in his whole life than he does now.

Before he decided to meet up with Taehyung he accepted that maybe this was going to be the end. His last day, his last dinner, his last talk with his loved ones.

However, the moment he looked into Taehyung’s eyes he knew – he didn’t want this to be the end. They still have so many things to achieve, together. He can’t lose this. He once again started to feel the need and want to live.

Jungkook wants to live, wants to survive for Taehyung.

„Hey,” Seokjin welcomes the others as he arrives with their other friends not so long after. „How are you?”

„Nervous,” Jungkook lets out a shaky breath and Taehyung pulls him a little closer. „I… I wanted to thank you for everything, hyung. You were there for me even when you didn’t know about it, supporting me without any knowledge about what was happening. Thank you so much,” Jungkook lets go of Taehyung’s hand for a second, just to hug Jin.

Seokjin bites his lower lip, trying very hard to hold back his tears – not wanting to break down in front of Jungkook who needs the most support now.

„You can take me out for dinner after you recover from the surgery,” he smiles and can feel Jungkook’s whole body tense so he only hugs him tighter. „Everything will be fine, little one. Okay? Don’t worry.”

„Okay,” the youngest murmurs, pulling away and then turning to face the others. „I’m really sorry for not saying anything about my state. I really thought I could handle this on my own, only with my parents,” he sighs, looking at his parents for a mere second – noticing his mother crying. „I know you don’t like hearing this, but if anything goes wrong and I don’t come out of that room, please know that I love you all endlessly, and please remember me with good memories.”

„We could never forget you,” Yoongi smiles at him. „But there’s no need to forget when I know for sure you’re going to come out. You have your whole life waiting for you. So Jungkook, stop talking bullshit. We love you too, we’re here for you and going to wait here until you come out of that room, okay?” he asks, voice a little desperate but he tries to hide how worried he is.

Jungkook only nods, stepping closer to his friends and hugging them one by one. Jungkook then goes to his parents, talking to them for a few minutes before moving back to Taehyung who has already opened his arms for him.

The younger scoots closer, hugging his love maybe for the last time ever.

Jungkook’s doctor comes out not so long after, letting him know that they need to run a few tests before heading to the surgery room. Jungkook asks Taehyung to accompany him while they take the tests, had enough of not having anyone’s hand to hold while they examine him.

Taehyung goes with him and stays close to him through the whole process, wondering why Jungkook chose to handle this all alone. He could’ve been here with him all the time, holding him and caressing his hair to ease his nerves. Still, it’s not the right time to think about it. Taehyung knows they still have plenty to talk about but they have time. Jungkook is going to be fine and they can solve all their problems after he’s healthy again.

About an hour later Jungkook is ready to go, once again bidding goodbye to everyone, leaving Taehyung to the last one. He hugs the older close and tight, not even wanting to let go. Taehyung pulled away a little, not even noticing how he had tears streaming down his face until the younger wipes them off and Taehyung can’t help but chuckle.

„You’ll be fine, okay?” he whispers, Jungkook nods. „Come back to me, okay?” the younger nods again. „I love you, baby.”

„I love you, hyung,” Jungkook answers, pecking Taehyung’s lips and blushing in an instant.

„Come here,” Taehyung mumbles before pulling Jungkook back into his embrace. The younger takes in Taehyung’s scent, knowing it can help his mind to be put at ease.

Taehyung kisses Jungkook one last time before he lets go of him and watches him disappear behind the closed door with his doctor before he lets all his tears out finally and breaks down.

Time never went this slow as it does now. Everyone in the waiting room is worried badly, waiting for any of the nurses or doctors to come out of the room and tell them that Jungkook is fine.

After an hour passed, Taehyung decided that he needed to distract himself so he went to talk with Jungkook’s parents. The only reason he hasn’t started a conversation earlier is that he was upset with them. They knew about it from the start but they let Jungkook make his silly decisions – for example, leaving Taehyung.

On the other hand, Jungkook’s parents never got the chance to know about how Jungkook left Taehyung. They simply didn’t know – heck, they never even considered that their son would leave the love of his life, especially when he needed him the most.

So when Taehyung confronts them, quite annoyed, Jungkook’s mom tells him that they realized only a month ago that Taehyung is not in the picture and Taehyung suddenly wants to smash Jungkook’s head into the wall.

He can’t believe he kept so much pain, so many secrets to himself.

Jungkook rarely cried, he was never the type to overshare or sometimes even share his thoughts, his insecurities, his pain, and his happiness. He just couldn’t express his emotions well.

But Taehyung helped him a lot. He taught him how to show love and care. How to share the pain but also the good things. Yet some things never change and Jungkook’s bad habit – of masking his emotions – never faded away completely, no matter how hard Taehyung helped him.

After catching up on the past few months with his baby’s parents Taehyung considers going out for some fresh air. It’s been a little more than two hours since the surgery had started and he gets more and more nervous with each minute passing by.

He can’t leave though. He knows that the moment he steps out of the building a doctor will come out of the room and inform them about Jungkook’s state. He doesn’t want to miss that moment.

So he stays. He drinks a coffee Jimin brought him not so long ago while listening to Yoongi talking about some annoying idols since he started working at a music-producing agency.

Almost one more hour passes when Taehyung decides that he really needs to go out for some fresh air.

He can’t handle this anymore. He needs to get out of here.

He steps out of the building, standing close to the entrance so that he can rush back inside if anything happens.

He lets out a shaky breath before sliding down beside the wall and sitting down on the cold floor. He takes his head into his hands, letting himself get out of his act for a few minutes. He can’t pretend that he’s fine anymore. He’s not fine.

He feels unwell, thinking about how the love of his life is going through his life-saving surgery right now which may go wrong.

Taehyung thinks about the worst scenario – Jungkook not surviving it. He imagines the scene quite a few times in his head – the doctor coming out, tired face, teary eyes, and a shaky voice telling them that the boy inside didn’t survive.

Taehyung quickly shakes his head, trying to get rid of these thoughts but it’s nearly impossible. He doesn’t want to imagine his life without Jungkook, though.

Now that he had to experience life without him by his side, he knows he doesn’t want it. He can’t have a life without Jungkook. The younger is his everything. His first love, and also his last one.

No matter what happens, Taehyung knows he’ll never be able to love someone else as much as he loves Jungkook.

He doesn’t just simply love the younger. He’s in love with him. With his soul, his body, his… everything.

Taehyung takes the necklace between his fingers, taking a good look at it before lifting it to his lips and pressing a kiss on the medal.

Everything is going to be fine.

Taehyung stands up a few minutes later, dusting his pants off before heading back inside. He goes straight to his best friend, hugging him and looking for some comfort and peace, but no matter how much everybody tries to act strong, as time goes by it’s getting harder.

Another hour passes when the door opens finally. Taehyung watches the scene in slow motion – the doctor approaches Jungkook’s parents, telling them something before his mother breaks down in tears, and his father hugs her tightly.

„What’s happening?” Taehyung asks when he sees the doctor stepping closer to them. „Is… is Jungkook okay?”

„Yes, he’s fine,” the doctor smiles happily and this is the moment when Taehyung actually breaks down. He lets out a shaky laugh, followed by some tears streaming down his face as he impulsively hugs the doctor. „We had some complications, that’s why it took so long but nothing major, so don’t worry. Jungkook is fine, going to be as healthy as he was before this whole thing.”

„Thank you so much,” Taehyung sobs, letting go of the doctor and turning to their friends with the biggest grin on his face. „When is he going to wake up?”

„Approximately in an hour, but he’ll be overwhelmed and confused probably so be careful,” he smiles. „His room number is 613, you can go inside if you want to. I have to leave now to see another patient.”

„Thank you so much again,” Taehyung sniffles but the smile doesn’t leave his face anymore. „Gosh, I feel so relieved now.”

„It’s over,” Seokjin mumbles, eyes teary. „Shall we go now to see him?” he asks.

Taehyung nods immediately, but the youngest’s parents still need to get some things done with the doctor and also the hospital before heading to their son.

The others leave, looking for Jungkook’s room and stopping in front of the door before opening it and stepping in once they find it.

Jungkook sleeps peacefully, some medicines are already placed on the nightstand beside his bed. A deep breath leaves Taehyung’s lips as he steps closer to his love, sitting next to him on the bed carefully and taking his hand into his own.

Taehyung smiles at him, eyes soft as he takes in Jungkook’s features. He couldn’t focus on his beauty in the past one day, shocked by the sudden bad news, but gosh. It’s been a while since he has seen him.

It’s been more than seven months, he missed his face like crazy.

He doesn’t even care about their friends' presence as he leans in, placing a soft peck on Jungkook’s forehead, nose, and also on his cheeks. He smiles to himself, not letting any more tears come out.

He’s happy. His love is finally safe and going to be healthy again.

………………

Jungkook wakes up an hour later, and as the doctor said, he feels slightly dizzy and overwhelmed. He immediately looks for Taehyung, which makes the older’s heart melt a little, but Jungkook doesn’t have to search for him for a long time since Taehyung hasn’t even moved since he stepped into the room.

Jungkook’s face lit up when he noticed Taehyung next to him, trying to scoot a little closer but his abdomen hurt like hell, making him whine in pain.

Taehyung’s there, scolding him a little before moving closer, careful not to get even close to Jungkook’s scar.

„How are you feeling?” Seokjin asks when Jungkook finally starts getting back to his senses.

„A little sleepy, must be the sedative still. Other than that, I’m fine,” he smiles as he enjoys all his loved ones' presence all together in this small room now. „Thank you for everything, really. I’m so grateful to every one of you.”

„I didn’t do anything, though,” Taehyung mumbles, but both of Jungkook's parents, Seokjin and Jungkook himself scoffed at that. „What?”

„Tell him,” Seokjin demands, but the younger only whines. „Jungkook!”

„It doesn’t matter anymore,” he rolls his eyes but the way Taehyung looks at him with such a curious stare, he can’t help but give in. „A few weeks ago, after Seokjin got to know about it, I wanted to stop taking my medicines because it made me feel so drained and y’know… I just wanted to give up. Seokjin gave me a whole lecture then and he included you in it, of course. So, basically, I didn’t give up because of you. I still wanted to be with you. I wanted to live for you because I just knew that we were made for each other and I didn’t want to let go of that, let go of you,” he explains, voice breaking in the middle of his speech as he lets Taehyung have his words sink in.

Taehyung lets out a breathless giggle in disbelief. He can’t believe Jungkook, seriously. He made him leave and then he tells him he was the reason he didn’t give up. He never met anyone this dumb as his own boyfriend before.

„You’re such an idiot, Jungkookie. Seriously,” he sighs but when he sees Jungkook pout, he can’t help but literally coo at him. „Okay, okay,” he sighs, once again, and leans closer to him. „We’ll talk about us later, but you’re right. We’re made for each other. I can’t even imagine myself with anyone else, baby. You’re my everything, my destiny. I’m happy you didn’t give up.”

„I love you, hyung,” Jungkook sobs, but Taehyung is quick to be there, wiping off that single tear even before it could fall off. The younger smiles before scooting a little closer, pressing his lips onto Taehyung’s for a short kiss.

Jungkook’s parents leave a while later since they still don’t live in the city and they need to get back home. Taehyung offers them to stay at his place, he even offers to pay for a hotel for them but they kindly refuse since they have work tomorrow. If Taehyung wasn’t here, they would’ve stayed probably, but since he’s here, they’re sure their son is in safe hands now.

The others stay for a few more hours before they leave as well, Jimin offering Taehyung to get him some clothes because he knows very well his best friend isn’t leaving this room tonight. Taehyung gladly accepts it and lays down carefully next to Jungkook once everyone has left the room.

………………

„It’s like I’ve never even left,” Taehyung chuckles quietly as he steps into the house.

After everyone had left the room a few days ago, only the two of them had stayed, the first thing they talked about was what was going to happen with them from here.

Taehyung knew that talking about what had happened would be such a deep topic to handle for then so he decided they should just talk about their future before the past for now. However, they quickly established one thing – they don’t want to let go of the other one ever again.

Taehyung brought up the idea of him moving back to their house – referring to it like that, causing Jungkook’s eyes to get slightly teary. The younger nodded in an instant, agreeing. As if he wouldn’t have started begging on his knees for Taehyung to move back if he hadn’t proposed the idea.

Taehyung also mentioned the ring. The ring Jungkook has been wearing proudly, although every time he looked at it throughout the past few months his heart ached. Jungkook told him that the night he sent Taehyung off, he stayed there to collect himself off the ground and when he wanted to leave as well, he noticed the jewelry on the table and whispered a small, powerless yes to himself before sliding it on his finger.

They still have plenty to talk about and discuss.

Jungkook knows that the way he acted wasn't the right way to do so. He knows he did wrong, he threw away years of his life, of their lives just because he thought he could handle his disease on his own.

Despite Taehyung knowing this type of attitude came from the younger’s insecurities, he can’t help but feel a little like he failed as a boyfriend. He knows that they have to work on it, it’ll take time. Yet he doesn’t care. He’s willing to do anything to make their relationship work again and make it even better than it was before this.

„I couldn’t change anything. Always waited for the moment I’m completely healed and you’ll be back,” Jungkook explains, helping Taehyung with his bags, however, the older doesn’t really appreciate it.

„Have I not told you to go there and sit down? Gosh, you just got home and you dare to wander around?”

„I’m fine, hyung. They put the numbing cream on it before we left so I can’t even feel it now,” Jungkook shrughs but sits down on the couch nonetheless. „Can you come here?”

„I’m here, baby,” Taehyung smiles, sitting next to Jungkook and wrapping his arm around his waist, careful of the wound on his abdomen. „What is it?”

„I’m so happy you’re here,” Jungkook smiles fondly, looking into Taehyung’s eyes and the latter can’t help but lean in and kiss his soft lips.

„Me too, baby. I missed you like crazy.”

„When do you want to talk about… what happened?” the younger asks, fidgeting with his finger as he waits for the other’s response nervously.

„I don’t know what else to say, Jungkookie. I wasn’t really mad, I was just disappointed and it all felt so surreal. I don’t even know what happened in the past few months, it was like life has stopped for me. I couldn’t function without you properly, so I’m just asking one thing, okay? Don’t do this ever again, please. If anything happens, bad or good, share it with me. I don’t care how painful or vulnerable it makes you or me feel, I want to know, okay? I promise you the same thing. We’re in this together, baby, right?”

„I apologize again. I know what I did was wrong, just please be patient with me. However, I’ll never do anything like this ever again. I mean… I hope I won’t even have to, but y’know what I mean,” the younger mumbles the last part, finally looking up at Taehyung who holds his gaze softly and decides it’s the right time to pull him closer, making Jungkook rest his head on his shoulder while he caresses his hair.

„Apology accepted, baby. I think we both need some time to let it all sink in. I’m not mad at you anymore, okay? I’m here and I’m not going anywhere even if you want me to,” he laughs slightly, Jungkook whining beside him as he does.

„Thank you, love,” Jungkook whispers, placing a soft kiss on the older’s neck. „I love you.”

„I love you too, baby.”

………………

Weeks and months pass by quickly as they settle back into their old life. They’re slowly starting to get to the point where they’re almost like their old selves as well. To be that disgustingly sweet, and annoying couple once again. Nevertheless, their friends can’t get enough of the sight of them anymore. Even they missed their relationship.

Slowly everything falls back into its own place. Jungkook started working again a few weeks ago just because he has been missing his students like crazy. All of them welcomed him back with gifts, pampering him with soft and comforting words as Jungkook shared his disease with them before he left.

Taehyung packed back all of his stuff to their house, officially moving back with his love – glad that he never looked for another apartment and just stayed down at Jimin’s safe place until things got figured out.

Taehyung smiles as he watches Jungkook move around in the kitchen, preparing their dinner before they head out to a party that some artists organized. They got the invitation through Yoongi who was actually the producer of the said artist’s new song and he got invited with two more plus passes.

Taehyung steps closer, sliding behind Jungkook and wrapping his arms around his waist, still trying to be very careful around his abdomen – no matter that it’s been months and there’s barely even a scar now.

„It smells delicious,” he says, sniffing into the air – more likely to Jungkook’s hair.

„Yeah? It’s gonna be done in a few minutes so go and set the table please,” he answers, trying to move around although it proves to be quite hard with a Taehyung pressing onto you from behind.

„Wasn’t talking about the food, but fine,” he mutters, making Jungkook blush a little. „You still wanna go to that party?”

„Yeah, it sounds fun, so why not?” he questions. Taehyung just shrugs before starting to eat the food deliciously.

After they’re done with their dinner, they quickly get dressed and are ready to go to support their friend.

They arrive a little late, but just in time when Yoongi gets on the podium and starts introducing the songs with the artist standing next to him. They listen to him, trying to understand because honestly, neither of them is a big music enthusiast. But they’re here to support Yoongi and that’s the only thing that matters.

Yoongi gets off the podium when he’s done talking, hurrying back into the crowd looking for his friends. He lets out a relieved breath once he stands next to them.

„You did well, hyung,” Taehyung whispers into his ear.

„Thanks,” he smiles back, looking quickly at him but noticed in an instant how Taehyung only eyes some random stylist on the other side of the room. „Why are you staring at her?”

„Because he was eyeing Jungkookie up and down just a second ago,” he rolls his eyes, pulling Jungkook a little closer by his arm which is wrapped around the younger’s waist protectively now. „Annoying,” he snorts, but Yoongi can only chuckle. Oh, how he has missed them together.

„And now… please, enjoy my newest album!” the artist suddenly says, making everyone in the room start clapping for him as the first song starts playing.

Jungkook turns to Taehyung, to face him and starts to hum along the song when the chorus starts for the second time.

Maybe we, Could be, Slow dancing, Until the morning

We could be romancing, The night away

Taehyung steps in front of him, wrapping both of his arms around the younger now, taking little steps as they move around to the outro of the song. The older smiles at him, eyes literally glowing in the dark room as he watches his love burst out chuckling when he accidentally steps on his foot. Taehyung giggles as well, pulling him even closer and kissing his lips.

The kiss is slow, fingers caressing the other’s waist and neck lazily as they get so lost in each other, that they don’t even notice the next song has started to play. They pull away, resting their foreheads against the other’s.

„I’m happy you never gave up on me,” Jungkook suddenly whispers, breaking their silence. „Everyone always says how destined we are. That we are made for each other. I kind of doubted it a little when you left, but at the depth of my soul, I always knew you would let me come back to you.”

„You’re right, baby. No matter what happens, we stay together. Even if we spend some time apart, we’ll come back. Maybe it’s really destined, that we need to be together,” he giggles.

Jungkook doesn’t answer this time, just leans in once again, pressing their lips together for a kiss which is filled with love and love only. Taehyung sighs into the kiss, not trying to hurry with it at all, enjoying his love’s soft breath hitting his lips when they drew away for a few seconds. Jungkook then turns around in his arms, facing the podium, back pressing onto Taehyung’s chest as he stands there, hugging him close from behind.
