Chapter Text
POV: [????]
The city never rests, so neither can I. Luckily, I just had my daily insulin shots, so I don’t have to think about that right now.
Ever since I found out the rest of my class was playing superheroes, I knew I had to jump on the trend, but it’s more than a game to me. It’s a lifestyle. Keeping the town safe takes a lot of work, but I feel like I’m up to the task.
Meow! Meow!
Noises of distress in the distance. I walked further up the path until I saw it. A tiny tuxedo kitten, dangling helplessly from a tree branch. I took a minute to assess the scene. The branch was way too high for me to reach on my own, but how else could I save the poor creature? I knew I had to think of something, and fast. But what? I turned my focus to a construction site not too far away from where I was standing. Tools.. no. Paper sheets.. no. Lunchbox? Tempting, but now’s not the time to think about food. I started to run out of ideas, when my perfect solution presented itself. One of the suited workers set down a ladder in the dirt below, and that’s when I finally knew what I had to do.
“Excuse me sir, can I borrow this for a second?” I swiftly picked up the ladder and began to carry it back to the tree.
“Hey! You bring that back right now, young lady!” He shouted in response, his voice growing distant as I returned to my location.
“I’ll be fast, don’t you worry!”
I set the ladder down and quickly ascended as the kitten held on for dear life. Luckily, just as it was about to fall, I cupped my hands around it, cautiously bringing it to the ground.
“You’re safe now, little guy.” I smiled as the little kitten laid down in the grass. Yet another successful rescue mission. But of course, it’s all in a day’s work for Sweet Relief. After returning the ladder to its rightful place, I set off in search of more…
“Sophie! It’s time for dinner, sweetie!”
..Nevermind. I guess that can wait.
“Coming, mom!”
The city never rests, but I guess I deserve the chance to every so often.
“You were playing for a while today, did you save anybody?”
“Actually, I did. There was a kitten stuck in a tree, but I saved it!”
“Did you? Well, that’s very sweet of you.”
I grinned happily as I sat down at the table, still wearing my hero costume. Pretty simple, but comfortable and not too over-the-top. Just then, my dinner was placed onto the table. A grilled shrimp quinoa bowl, one of my all-time favorite meals. I quickly began to scarf down the food.
“This food is so delicious, momma!” I exclaimed with my mouth completely full.
“Sweetie, don’t talk with your mouth full, you could choke.”
I nodded and continued to eat until every last piece of shrimp and rice was gone. Readjusting my costume as I stood up, I thanked my mom for dinner and raced back outside.
I looked down at my watch. 6:00 PM. The sun was already beginning to set, but I didn’t care. Sweet Relief doesn’t rest.. until her blood sugar gets too low and she has to go back home.
In the meantime, I thought I should start a Coonstagram account, since all the coolest heroes have one.

Perfect! After setting up my account, I decided to post a selfie. That way the other heroes in town would know who I am. I held my phone up and flashed a smile for the camera. Once my photo was taken, I started to type a caption.

Just like that, my first post was made. I looked at the photo with slight dissatisfaction. From the slight glare, to the awkward strands of hair attached to my lip, it wasn’t perfect. The least I could do was hope it’d be enough to attract some followers.
I slipped my phone into one of my pockets, continuing down the street in search of citizens to save. This is when I heard something that would make my heart drop.
Footsteps coming from behind me.
I turned to look in the direction of the noise, worried that a creep was following me, but there was nobody there. I shrugged and continued walking, but the noise began to follow me again. I tried to run, but I was quickly grabbed. Everything faded to black almost immediately.

Oh, goody! A new hero! I’ve never seen her around here before, but I’m sure Boss will be mighty pleased when I bring her to the lair! Oh, this is almost as satisfying as bread and butter!
