Work Text:
8th Victim: Cody Emmett Jameson Anderson
“Creeping Cody” - The Forest
“ Rule #8.: Watch your back. ”
Cody was a boy who cared for others, he might’ve struggled with taking hints, the type to struggle to make ties with others with his often brash approach. But he was somebody who would put himself out there for the sake of anybody he felt he loved, willing to give his heart to any person he set his eyes on, a shame to see that the person who’d taken it was the man that tore it out and not the one he lost his life looking for.
Can you say the same for yourself, Chris?
Would you be willing to put yourself in harm's way for the people you care for?
Or is there nobody you’re willing to give yourself for...
.
..
…
!
Did you hear that?
The crunch of leaves, a broken twig?
Look around, his game has begun.
He’s hiding.
There, in the dark. Look closer into the shadows between the trees and maybe you’ll see him faintly, staring right back at you.
You have something he desperately wants, but he isn’t selfish like you. He’ll play fair.
All you have to do is survive.
Staring won’t do you any good, it’ll only make you a cheater.
So turn your back and start walking, Chris.
Try to keep calm, walk, and let those careless sins hang in the air.
Look back, he’s not there anymore but that doesn’t mean he’s gone. You can still feel those eyes staring, right?
So look around again for his faint figure which feels closer now, and turn another way before he gets too close.
Your pace has quickened, those pauses to check the trees become infrequent.
You're being careless again, running aimlessly in a forest that doesn't belong to you.
Without even realizing, you’ve run right into him.
He's played this game fair, now to give him what you owe.
Don’t cry, don’t yell, don’t argue. There's no point, you lost fair and square.
With the kind of man you are, did you ever even need that heart?
